Lies,lies,n more lies.it seems like a big fraud da whole 75$ to open a directp deposit account.then everybody is on vacation.they give u da same fone# that gives you rude people and the end result is lies to cover more lies.worst banking ever.there is no 75$ for opening new acounts,funded by alqueda or foreign goverments,stay away FRAUD,FRAUD,BETTER BUISSNESS WILL HEAR FROM ME HORRIBLE LIARS CANT EVEN LIE ALL BULL FONE NUMBERS
I am writing to complain about your branch in Mercerville, NJ 08619. Sometime last year of 2011 we went into the bank looking to obtain a loan for our business. To make a long story short, the loan officer who was helping us, Joseph Antico, took about 5-6 months to get back to us. He encouraged us to open 2 accounts with your bank in the process, to help to improve our chances of getting a loan, everytime we called or came in he would tell us "don't worry you will get the loan," giving us false hopes, then after 3 months he wouldn't be available to talk to us on the phone or even when we would come down to his office, and ask how much longer the managers at the branch would make excuses for him. Meanwhile we are paying rent on our business property in hopes of hearing good news, which he tells us 6 months after we applied that we are denied. On top of that when we requested our file to go to another bank, he didn't give us our full file with our paper work. Fast forward to June 2012. We come in to the branch to withdraw our $200 deposit from back in 2011, and come to find out that we only have 19 dollars left in our Checking and 84.25 in our Savings. We were surprised, because no one notified us through phone or mail that this was happening. We never got statements in the mail. We spoke with one of the managers there, Mr. Scott Rosenthal, and he said he couldn't do anything about it, and would refer us back to Mr. Antico or Daniel (another bank manager). And he told us they would get back to us on the 25th of June. We called back on Tuesday June 26th, since we didn't hear from anyone. Spoke with Mr. Antico and said he would send an email the head office and see what they said. We have since been receiving emails from I think the head office, saying that they are waiting for the manager to get back on vacation, and then they call us to tell us they are "still waiting for a reply and haven't forgotten about us!" We are tired of waiting, and want you to know that we are reporting this company to the BBB, we are not happy with your services, this bank has been a disaster when it comes to customer service, and is the worst of banks to deal with. We personally would never recommend anyone to open an account with your bank or its branches, because you hire employees who are unhelpful in finding us answers or being clear with what's going on, instead you have trained them to make excuses. We want our refund of the money back into our account, and just would like to close this account, and never give our business to this bank again! Sovereign bank of New York, Crescent St Astoria 11106 Jul 12, 2012. Over the weekend this branch has lost all my deposits in my savings account, not one person cared at the branch, when I took the day off to investigate. My daughter and son-in-law made numerous calls as instructed by the branch office. All calls led me back to, you need to talk with the branch; you need to speak with the branch, how nice a loop. I got so much misleading information and not one person cared. Never in my life have I received such careless attitudes, from branch personnel and phone attendants. I finally found out that this occurred to about 90% of bankers at this particular branch. How can such a callous and vicious act occur, does this bank have a protocol to prevent such acts. How careless of Sovereign Bank what a joke, and it shows in all your employees whom I dealt with. New motto to use: Soverein bank we dont care so whys should you.. Use this it fits.
Customer service is very bad. Some of the representative on the phone sounds like they are half asleep and does not care to listen to the customer first. At the tone of their voice,its like capturing their attitude- DONT CARE'.I asked to speak to a supervisor who took a very long time to answer and before I can explain my self she started telling me she cannot help but to go to the branch. I did go to the branch who couldn't even help...the person who opened my account and mess it up doesn't have time to fix it. What kind of service is your bank providing???
Bank branch is fine, nice tellers; managers are frequenlty replaced, and nobody is a legal notary, so lacking in service. ONLINE IS HORRIBLE WHENEVER THEY UPGRADE THEIR SOFTWARE. There is no notification that the bank has updated and changed its online software. When I checked my account, data such as payee which usually shows as a name was just a string of numbers. When I downloaded the data to Quicken, the balance got totally corrupted. Calling to rectify this was hopless. After more than two hours, 4 hangups, 6 rerouts back to the same starting point, I wrote an email. The reponse from Sovereign was advice on how to get to speak to a represenative directly...and of course it did not work. i am so irritated I am pulling my accounts and moving them to the adjacent bank.
Sovereign Bank sucks!!! don't refinance with them or allow a new mortgage with them. Hopefully they will wither and be bought out by a company that has a true sense of what Americans need to our economy back on track. they lie and misrepresent themselves so that they can squeeze whatever they can from you. They are in different when you are first having troubles and offer no help toward a mutually beneficial solution. They want you to be on the edge of foreclosure and your credit rating in the toilet before customer service is even a possibility....why when you have a Great credit rating and you need help...nothing. Companies like this are the countries demise. SHAME ON YOU SOVEREIGN BANK!!!!
Horrible Bank Manager!! Very nice bank on Crossbay Blvd. in Howard Beach,N.Y. The staff has been cut to the bone, however remain very polite and efficient. The bank manager is very pleasant unless you choose to close your account. His demeanor then changes to that of a spoiled child who becomes personally offended that you are leaving and acts out. He also appears to be chauvinistic. The manager makes solicitation calls on joint accounts to promote various investments but will only speak to the man of the house. Won't deal with a bank that allows this type of behavior
Signed up for business accounts when they were running a promo. I was told that they would deposit 250 into each account after using the debit card three times. I never recieved the card after months of waiting, so i called and they sent another card. Finally recieved a debit card 5 months later and was told not to use it as it was the first card issued and it would not work. I got fed up and went to the branch in Avondale Pa. only to find out that 100 dollars of my initial 200 dollars was gone. They are placing all blame on me. I own a small business in this area and would warn anybody to steer clear of Sovereign bank. The branch manager in avondale is Laurel and between her and this branch i am absolutley disgusted. I will get my money back no matter how far i have to go and who i need to talk to.
i think this bank is the worst where customer service representative is concern. i had opened a new account and had asked what will happen when my withdrawl for that account go into the bank. one customer rep told me not to worry they will take care of it because i still have money in the bank, only to find out that i am being charged an overdraft fee. How can one say one thing and they do something different? I hate the change from independence to soverign.
I opened a small business account for my tutoring service at Sovereign Bank (North Andover branch) in 2009. The bank representative assured me that there will be no fees or charges on my account. I deposited $240 and waited for my debit card to deposit more. After two weeks of not receiving the card, I contacted Sovereign Bank to send me a new card. I haven't received the new card since, and couldn't deposit my checks through ATM. Recently, I received a letter from Sovereign bank that they charged $160 inactivity fee from my account. I visited the bank and explained the situation and told them they don't have a right to charge me without notice. The manager told me that I have agreed and signed to pay the inactive fees, however, I look into the issue more and found out that this new regulation of $16/month inactivity fee started in October, 2010. Therefore, I definitely haven't signed such an agreement and they definitely haven't send me any notice. They unfairly, unethically and even without a notice, charged me $160 from my account.
This bank is thee most aweful bank in the entire world. I had Bank of America. Everyone complains about them but honestly I had minimal problems with them but I had a joint account and divorced and the only way to get him off the account was to have him personally come there. Well that wasn't going to happen so I let it go into overdraft so they would shut it down then paid it off. So my grandparents had Sovereign Bank for years I thought ok I'll go to them. The problems began almost immediately. I work 40 hours a week for little pay but this company only cares about scheming how they can overdraft you and get what little money you have, not only that but they are completely outdated and ignorant. With all the overdraft fees they charge you'd think they'd have state of the art banking...for example. I received a check from my grandparents for school and I needed to cash it, around 600 or so dollars. I go to my branch and attempt this. They told me they can't cash it only deposit it and then I can withdraw the cash. Now the check from my grandparents was a SOVEREIGN BANK CHECK!!!! Helloooo ppl. I informed the lady she could just check the account through the computer and see the funds are there surely as it was one of THEIR banks. She actually looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting this and informed me their bank was in PA and they don't have a link to it....Well welcome to the year 2011 Sovereign, I've never heard of a bank that can't do that. I am positive Bank of America for all their faults could in fact do that. So after throwing a fit they finally called the bank in PA and had to get this special frigging number to look at the account after which the guy informed me oh they definitely have the money in their account to cover the check no problem and proceeded to actually tell me how much money was in their account....um. well now I know how much my grandparents have stashed away. The other problems with them are of course overdraft fees. They will sit on check or withdrawals until they are sure it will throw me over then they post it. So I figured I am turning of my overdraft protection and that way my card will be declined. I did this and found after paying all bills etc I had 1 dollar left in my account. Yessss I just made it.....not so I get slapped with ...guess....a 2 dollar service fee. You got it. bumping me over into now -1.00 She told me that 80.00 I paid didn't post yet and that was what overdrafted me but I had the money at the time I did it so it didn't decline and she proceeded to blame the company for not posting it not Sovereign. The same thing with gas. If you use the gas pump as credit card it won't post for like 2 weeks by that time you may be checking your statement or forget you even charged it than BAM. Again they blame it on the gas station. Oh and did I forget to say the 2.00 service fee was from using a none Sovereign ATM on .....the 11th of the month and the service fee they charge you know when you swipe it doesn't get charged til the end of the month so in a nutshell you charge gas with using credit not atm you won't see the charge til 1 or 2 weeks later, you use a non sovereign atm you won't actually get hit with the service fee til the end of the month. They do this making it nearly impossible to keep track of your account even when you track it online. The phone automated one is always behind again making it impossible to track. The point of having online banking is to have things up to date immediately not next week. If I wanted to keep an old fashioned ledger I wouldn't online bank. This bank is aweful and run completely on bad ethics

THIS BANK ONLY THINKS OF ITSELF NOT THE CUSTOMER.I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE NEW MASTER CARD.MC CARD IS ONLY TAKEN BY 40%LESS THEN VISA.I HAD TO SWITCH SOME IF NOT ALL OF MY ACCOUNRS TO ANOTHER BANK. SO I CAN USE IT ONLINE TO ORDER.5 OF THE COMPAYS ONLY TAKE VISA. I REALLY HOPE THIS BANK GOES BELLY UP
i was banking with them for more than 10 years, in the beginning i had only one primary checking account with them, then i opened a secondary checking account about 2 years ago, for using online etc, purchases. we had two debit cards on primary account, my wife try to use her card in a store and it was declined. when my wife called the bank they told her that she would have to come to the bank to change the pin#. so she went to the bank and got the new number. about four days ago we received a card from the bank for not sufficient fund. i went to the bank to find out the reason for N.S.F. i was told that i had 7, N.S.F. $35.00 each i ask them what is the balance in my account, i had more than enough to cover all those charges. when i told them that they said the balance in your secondary is less than that, i ask why are they withdrawing from my secondary account, i was given no explanation. and when i asked them to remove those fees they refuse saying that they are legitimate fees. this the second time they did that. another time they charge me for not maintaining the minimum balance, i said didn't i opened no minimum requirement? they said there was an error somebody put it in interest paying account. it is said that i have write about it. people should watch their money in their banks, just like a good house wife watch watches her assets from her alcoholic gambler, husbad.
Opened my account in the east 86th st branch in NY Everything seemed ok until i received my 1st statement .It had the wrong interest rate. Went to the bank it was explained that their was a computer error (lol) it was fixed now onto problem number 2 at the time of opening my account upon using 5 debits they were going to credit my account $125.00 . This should have been completed in 75-90 days that should have been July 2012. Well they are blaming the computers again and i still dont have the money.All i get is you will get the money please wait.. My question is WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP WAITING? mY ADVICE GET YOUR MONEY OUT OF THIS BANK BECAUSE THEY HAVE PRETTY BAD COMPUTERS THAT ARE KEEPING TRACK OF YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
