Mika on Morning Joe is great. The guests are great. But, Joe: he never shuts up. He's rude to Mika and to the guests. He asks a question to someone and proceeds to answer it himself. He has temper tantrums-hissy fits. When he is not on the show, Mika handles it so well. Joe's attitude is ME, ME, ME, MY SHOW. When Full Court Press came on Current TV, many callers expressed their relief that an alternative to Morning Joe existed. I watch Morning Joe until Joe does his thing, then I switch to CNN and periodically check back to see if Joe has shut up. Joe never shuts up. His jokes are mean. Samantha and Todd hate each other. Today it was Mika was drunk at the DNC convention. He is not professional. He is self-centered. MSNBC could gain more viewers if Joe were gone. Make the show, "Coffee With Mika" or "Come On In-It's Safe-Joe is gone.
Klein gets the credit for caeinlcng Aaron Brown's NewsNight and replacing it with Anderson Cooper 360. NewsNight was the most intelligent newscast on television (yes, I'm including The NewsHour ). It also got higher ratings than AC360. I have no problem with Cooper, but it seems insane that Klein couldn't find room for Brown, too.Klein also deserves immense credit for holding onto Larry King so long that he's now pulling the entire prime-time line-up into oblivion. Please don't kid yourself that Klein knows what he's doing. Any reasonably intelligent news consumer could come up with better ideas than he has.Ad rates are a function of ratings and demographics. Numbers are hard to come by. But the reason Fox's (and MSNBC's) ratings are higher than CNN's is that the talk-show viewers sit and watch for longer periods of time. At one time — not sure if this is still true — CNN had a higher number of total viewers per hour than Fox even though it lagged significantly in the ratings. That's because more people were tuning in for shorter periods of time to catch up on the news.Because CNN's viewers are also more affluent and better-educated than Fox's, CNN is able to charge more for its ads. Another reason: Let's say you're going to advertise the same product once every quarter-hour. Advertisers will pay a premium to reach CNN's viewers once. It's not as worthwhile to them to reach Fox's viewers multiple times.
Maddow and Matthews and sharpton love to throw out the race card. If you can not reprot the news you have to make up something. So Maddow and Matthews throw out the race card. It is sad that the corporate big wigs allow this criminal action on the air. Maddow in front of wind mills talking about wind power. "We will always have wind" Yes with your big mouth and lies we will always have wind. Wake up MSNBC and act like you have a education to report the news. not hatred.
Why would anyone at CNN think it was a good idea to give a prime-time talk show to fomerr New York governor Eliot Spitzer and Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker?Parker is not exactly my cup of tea but I think she's perfectly capable of reading the news and leading discussions about it, especially political stories. If you've seen her on Chris Matthews weekend show, you know why I think so. If you've seen Spitzer on MSNBC you'd know he's quite capable of the interview skills that a host has with guest who offer their take on the story, notwithstanding his non-existent journalism background and his sharp analytical mind. Spitzer is smart enough to learn what he needs to know on the job. In fact, he's been doing it at MSNBC for a while as guest and guest host. Who wouldn't trade a sharp analytical mind for a journalism background any day of the week? Here are some cases in point Chuck Todd, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Joe Scarborough, Sean Hannity of news/opinion hosts who I'd gladly trade for someone with Spitzer's skills. I'm not claiming the Spitzer/Parker show will be a success, I'm just saying the personnel CNN chose gives it a good chance to succeed. Dan is saying 1) the personnel don't give it a chance and 2) CNN is barking up the wrong tree by going with opinion/news analysis. Dan is wrong on both counts. Let's unpack this hurriedly considered thesis:Briefly, though, CNN touts itself as a profitable, news-driven alternative to the ideological talk shows on Fox and MSNBC. So why act as though your every programming decision is based on ratings? If CNN is truly in a different business from Fox and MSNBC, then what does it mean to say CNN comes in “thirdWell Dan, advertising drives revenue so ratings are extremely important to cable television networks since they are businesses in the business of making profits. Why act as though your every programming decision is based on ratings? Why? Because it is. Perhaps a better question to ask is, Will Spitzer and Parker be news-driven or is this a departure from their stated business plan? If CNN is truly in a different business from Fox and MSNBC It isn't. They are both selling news and opinion and competing for the same viewers aka ratings. I can't wait to read Dan's take down of Fox's Fair & Balanced business model. That seems like a hypocrisy far easier to expose than CNN's. But then this isn't about hypocrisy, it's about the media business and Dan knowing better that the people actually making these decisions.
Stupid AND racist...what a surprising combination.
I will never watch your news (ha) channel again, after i saw what mathews did. Shameful....
that guy needs to be fired
MSNBC is the BEST news station in all of the United States. Why? Because they tell the TRUTH. All the other stations mis-lead and confuse the people. The HATER'S that don't like MSNBC and those that leave hating messages are those very people who don't believe in the TRUTH and they are mis-leading themselves. There is RIGHT and there is WRONG. There is TRUTH and there is FALSE. Those who believe in Wrong and False are those who HATE what is GOOD, and therefore are a PRISONER of self. Those who believe in TRUTH and RIGHT are those who LOVE what is GOOD, and therefore have FREEDOM. Go figure???? Keep up the good reporting MSNBC!
MSNBC and NBC News really need to clean up their act professionally and restore integrity to what you broadcast. First there was the grossly misleading edit of the Zimmerman 911 tape and within this past week you did it again to Romney, trying to make him look stupid by putting out of context remarks in the worst possible light. I'm registered independent, not politically affiliated with any particular party. This upcoming election is incredibly important with many critical issues to be discussed. MSNBC is apparently choosing to not focus on these issues but seems to instead focus on repeating and reinforcing Democrat propaganga. Don't act surprised when your ratings don't get up off the floor.
Thank god for foxnews ! People can get the real story and make decisions for themselves.
MSNBC hosts definitely pander and lean to the left, big time. The last word represents an angry, arrogant man who loves to attack anyone who disagrees with him. He makes me sick to even hear his voice and look at his hateful face. As for Ed Schultz, the wife-beater, he has alot of nerve talking about war on women after he has beaten his ex-wife to a pulp. He is a violent, hateful man. This guy proudly states that he HATES all republicans... he is a BIG reason that this country is divided. What a disgusting person.
MSNBC has become "FAUXnews Lite," in that it's doing the same thing Fox does from the opposite end of the political spectrum. I used to have respect for MSNBC. It's lineup was entertaining, hard hitting, and honest. But, that ended when it became Barrack Obama's on-air and online campaign headquarters. MSNBC and it's political reporters ceased to report the news of the day. Instead, they re-write it constantly with a favorable Obama spin. I was a member of the Democratic Party for 36 years, and I always scoffed at the notion that the media was liberally biased. But, I cannot deny, any further, the absolute extremeist-leftist-liberal spin that MSNBC puts on ALL of its reporting. Shame on all of you! You're supposed to tell the truth without bias. You aren't supposed to put yourselves into, or otherwise become part of "the story". You're only supposed to report it. What's more, MSNBC's coverage of the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman incident has been, and continues to be irresponsible, and speculative. All I can say is; I hope you people take a good long look at yourselves in the mirror. I can promise you that if you have an ounce of honesty in your bones, you will not like what you see. Oh yeah, and tell the gutless Obama-trolips over at First Read, and Newsvine to unban me. Or, aren't extremeist-leftists in favor of FREE SPEECH when it doesn't agree with their own?
Ed Schultz is one of the most responsible journalism there is. He present the news of the day with clarity.....no lies....just FACTS. MRC...You hate him, that is your problem..you don't want to believe him, turn him off. But to all of us who has respect for the truth, Ed Schultz is one of the asset of MSNBC. Everyday WITHOUT FAIL we watch the Ed Schultz Show. Bill O'Reilly need not defend him....WE WILL, the loyal viewer of his show. Media Research Center, the right-wing media watchdog wants him cut off because Ed Schultz tells the truth about the right wingers...yes, I must admit, he is VERY INFLUENTIAL when in comes to choices we have to make base on his truthful reportings...he presents the facts which WE APPRECIATE,,,,and we go from there. I'm not fans of any REPUBLICANS. They are nothing but the alter ego of the KKK...we see Republicans on other outlet media besides Ed Schultz but Ed clarifies the news explicitly. It is not only Ed Schultz who presents the facts to us, we see these stupid Republicans doing all their stupid lies after another we bite the bullet just to keep sane. I have tuned out FOX NEWS since 2008, because they are hazardous to my health. I get so stressed out. Listening to their lies,FOX NEWS that is, I might have a stroke or a heart attack....so I cut them off completely. Ed Schultz will challenge the viewers like us with his reporting the news...and I challenge MRC dare if you do get Ed Schultz out of MSNBC. And will you PLEASE stop with all the programming on the jail birds and hardcore loosers. I'm just sick and tired of seeing it on your station -- it's terriable to see all of these people in the system wasting their lives. TERRIABLE not entertaining.
WE LOVE THEM ALL......AT MSNBC. WE ARE GLUED ON THIS STATION. From Morning till the night time....we have become couch potatoes, specially now that is election year...Oh my goodness we need them now more than ever...we need the truth. Chris Matthew...Al Sharpton...Ed Schultz, Rachal Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnel, Alex Wagner, Alex Witt, Chris Hayes, Melissa Harris-Perry, Martin Bashir, Robertson (can't remember his first name) Chuck Todd, Luke Russert, Tamron Hall, Jansing & Co., the Morning Joe Team, etc....I really mean we love them all...I might have forgotten or have not included some names here....But I tell you...there is nothing ...nothing....that can come close to all these BRILLIANT people you have on this station...WOW...JUST SO MESMERIZING....what a dream team. Further.....the GUEST...POLITICAL ANALYST....POLITICAL STRATEGIST....everyone who comes to speak at your station are HIGH CALIBER INDIVIDUALS IN THEIR OWN RIGHTS. PAR EXCELLENCE. But we sure miss Keith Olbermann :( in the group THANK YOU MSNBC......MORE POWER TO ALL OF YOU.....WHAT WILL WE DO WITHOUT YOU...WE'LL BE LOST...OR WE'LL NOT EVER KNOW THE TRUTH....NOT ONE TRUTH. YOU MAKE OUR LIVES EASIER FOR US...WE NEED NOT GROPE IN THE DARK. You are the light that shines our way, every steps of the way. Again, thank you ever so much.
LOVE MSNBC. The commentary is one of excellence. I watch the following without fail: Rachel Maddow (NO. 1!!) the best, Ed Schultz has done fabulous work for the blue collar union person, Dylan Ratigan has an excellent understand of economics, Larry O'Donnell is BRILLIANT and knows Washington politics as he has been on the inside, I am getting to like Al Sharpton even more as his no nonsense commentary is wonderful. I love hard hitting liberals who can hit conservatives and fight back, Chris Matthews too is colorful and has a great command of history. Now on the weekends we have pure excellence with Chris Hayes and the unbelievable Melissa Harris Perry. The problem is I spend way too much time in front of cable TV MSNBC. I cannot help it. I LOVE learning and these are people who are not only the best and the brightest but have the best and the brightest on a guests with them. And they are a lot more fair and balanced since they give time to Michael Steele and Mr. Schmidt. If I must listen to Republican commentary they are two of the best and most honest. In short, MSNBC how did I live with out you for so long? I am glad I have you now!
I ask myself how would GOD view many of people ways . Lie,Lie Lies Mitt Rommey father George WILCKEN ROMMEY was born in Mexico 1907 july 8 four childern LYNN,JANE,SCOTT,W MITT Yet the REPUBLICAN part of this gov. okeyed for him to run for the highest offices in the U.S.A. in 1968 George w rummey was not a U.S born.MITT Rommey on the last debate said .that his father was born in MEXICO .So do the math This time Mitt Rummeyspoke the truth about his father birth place .MSNBC I truly love your news ,because the truth is in your work thank s and keep up the word of truth.
For several years now i have not watched evening news people as most of them are mean spirited, lack cibility, and are arguementative etc. On tuesday octoaber 11, 2011 i for the ist time in years channel jumped and ended up on the "last word" with lawrence O'donnell......!! Had forgetting how much i disliked this angrey man's lack of honest journalism...he is so opinioned that I changed stations ....singing his apparent hate reminded me of his ranage over john kerry and then i remember some one i met who served with kerry who held no love for his demeaner and attitudes as well. I am glad that i switch states last night....will never go to msnbc again....i want factual reporting....do not care at all for these sick journalist that wondso off to the right or left.......!!! you need to dump him......you can do much better than the nigh team you have been support in recent years.....good bye!!! sorry if the truth hurts your botton line!!!
This rating is solely for Al Sharpton and his "hold" on msnbc. Sharpton is a totally uneducated individual; if you look at his bio, there is NOTHING THERE!! Activism, activism, and more activism. This is all that he has. I like to call him: Mr. Tawana Brawley, as he "shot his wad", during that fiasco. Sharpton has ZERO credibility - he really has nothing to offer. So, then we must ask the question: Why has Sharpton been granted his present "gig", via msnbc? I believe we all KNOW the answer to that question. He got his foot in the door, and now to "push him out" (in Sharpton's eyes) would be a BIG mistake! Talk about picketing! You "ain't" seen nothing yet! He would run his, in my humble opinion, "big ass mouth", until hell wouldn't have it. He is a hustler - and a good one! He has been a parasite on the body-politic for a long, long time. He did have a good mentor, however: Jesse Jackson. (I can hear the black churches echoing: "Aaaaammmmmeeeennnn") Sharpton is a charlatan, nothing more, nothing less. If I was a black "radio personality", who could speak English (noting that Sharpton cannot), I would be pissed!! He got the gig, and I did not. My question is: Why? We all know the answer to that, don't we.
MSNBC has just lost a viewer and a viewir from seeing the advertizers who pay to have viewers watch them I still cannot beleive that MSNBC has made a known a proven racist against whites to be an anchor for them (Al Sharpton) Go ahead and blast me for telling the truth on this as those who blast me are either Black racist themselves or poorly educated whites who have no idea on the real truth and facts on this man
Hi--I'm baaack. Got to thinking about it and others who deserve re-play honors, besides Rev. Al, are Martin Bashir (Bright, biting, just sarcastic enough for clear thinkers!), and Alex Warner, and/ot Tamryn Hall. Fine journalists. skillful interviewers who really LISTEN to the answers! Maybe fold them into the regular overnight schedule or weekends, on alternating basis or afts./eves. highlights, like some of the best guest interviews from their shows. Just a late-night random thought. (It's 2 AM) Thanks for being there when we need the TRUTH!
