I cannot tell you how upset everyone in Hickory is that our Harris Teeter is closing. I don't like Lowe's. I have enjoyed shopping at Harris Teeter, the people are great, the food, etc. At one time, Hickory had 3 Harris Teeters and now nothing. I hope that one day there will be another one here. Good bye HT!
I am begging you to open a store in Granville county NC. We are stuck with Food Lion and Wally World as our only options. Whenever I am in Wake Forest I shop there but as it is 36 miles from my home that is not exactly convenient on a regular basis. I don't know if the Wake Forest store is typical but the store is nice and the people are really helpful. My first experience there was an accident as I just ran in to buy something on my way home but that first experience hooked me. Whoever runs that store is first class.
I'm with Harley Trent. There is NO conceivable reason why a GROCERY STORE needs your name, address, phone number, and DRIVER'S LICENSE number!! They only do that so they can sell that info to health insurance companies. Your insurer sees that you've been buying a lot of beer, cigarettes and bacon and charges you more. But it doesn't end there......
I have been shopping at Harris Teeter in Salisbury, NC for six years. Two months ago, when there was a tasting of cantaloupe, a woman dumped a piece of cantaloupe on the floor, and I was several steps behind her but didn't see what she did. I stepped on the fruit, slid more than a foot, struggled to stay upright, and fell on the floor, with my cart on top of me. I sustained a cut on my shin and wrenched my back, aggravating my arthritis. The store manager called the next day to ask how I was, and I told him I had forgotten to buy Vitamin D. He kindly brought me a bottle to my house, a mile from Harris Teeter. I saw my doctor a few days later and had x-rays of my back. Recovery was slow and painful. Ten days after my fall, I asked the store manager if he would give me a gift card to, in a small way, compensate for my pain and suffering. He refused. I have since discovered that WalMart and Food Lion have almost all the items I used to buy at Harris Teeter. By the way, I am 77 years old. My fall was very scary. I feel unappreciated as a customer.
I have been working for harris teeter for 1 year and three months. I myslef have had some SERIOUS problems with HT. I work at at store in Cary, NC where people with money are STUCK UP and rude. I work in the meat department, and recently my pay has increased, but unfortunately; my manager failed to input my pay correctly, and this is the 4th time this has happened. HT overall is an average grocery store chain, the majority of the managers treat employess like trash because they know some of us need our jobs more than others. HT managers only care about; LP audits, health inspections, and whenever Ricardo(District Manager) or Craig Mckenzie(Central Region Manager) comes to the store. The pay is not bad, but the hours SUCK!!!. My store manager actually told me that he hires so many people in the store, and especially my department because he wants to keep "labor down". With more employees working in a store, less hours for employees like me who need atleats 20 hours to live on. The culture at HT is bad, employee morale is very low, and yet Harris Teeter has enough money to send store managers and execs to the Bahamas?, our pay is at an all time low, but you send over 300 PEOPLE to the BAHAMAS for a "sales meeting"?. Oh yeah, it was all expenses paid trip by the way.
have been in HT stores in Crozet and C-ville,Va.hey moishe I am an ex noo yawka too.we need the crappy attitudes from the likes of ShopRite,Wakefern,Waldbaums,A&P employees at HT.have found their people very helpful and when I asked about Boars Head,Taylor pork roll, entenmann's,but could not find Tastykake products.and Harris Teeter is better than Kroger either on Barracks Rd. in C-ville.or anywhere else.I see HT as really giving Kroger fits.Hey Moishe, you are not in the five boroughs or Nassau county.some of the crappiest customer service and even crappier attitudes in the aforementioned 5 boroughs and L.I.cut HT some slack.regards, bob gee.would like to see HT start carrying Tasty products in Virginia since there are so many people in Virginia from the northeastern states asking about them.and check out HT on Barracks Rd in C-ville Va and the Rockfish Gap store in Crozet.very clean, very helpful.have a nice day
To the gentleman complaining of racism, please note that us associates dislike ultra super mega double/triple coupons (although corporate does not, obviously) and if we are rude, it is because we are overworked, usually understaffed, and in some cases under paid. It is NOT because you are black, yellow, brown, etc. We treat all coupon people the same :) Scrutiny of coupons, in my experience, is done regardless of who is coming through the register. Just because you had a bad experience does not mean it was racism. Just because someone was rude to you does not mean they are a racist. It may make them a dick, but it doesn't make them a racist.
I get a complete headache when using my VIC card apparently the company gave someone my card after about 6 years so when I go online I am not recognized, I have requested a replacement card like 8 times in store by phone and on your site what's the deal do we need to not frequent your HT in Greensboro, NC already shutdown the golden gate site.... hep us help you....!
In my first week there I had not received my shirt or coat from Harris Teeter...(which I had to purchase at a ridiculous price. Any other employers I have had in the past provided the uniform.) In 20 degree weather they asked me to go outside in bring in carts. When I went to put on my jacket I was told I was not allowed to wear it. I did not have a "HARRIS TEETER" jacket yet so I was not allowed to wear my coat outside in the freezing cold. They would not ask anyone else to go outside and firmly told me to bring in the carts. Because of such treatment of their employees I no longer work for Harris Teeter. I quit and now they will not send my W2 form for the tax year. I do not know how they get away with such treatment of employees.
Your Rosedale Harris Teeter is really lacking when it comes to discarding expired products. Numerous times I have come across items from hardlines to dairy that have expired. Just the other day, a stack of Hershey Almond Chocolate bars, on the shelf, down the candy aisle... expiration 2011!!!!
I have tried very unscuuecfuly to set up my E-VIC account. I have a VIC card that I have had for about as many years as you have been open I shop at the Adams Farm Center in Greensboro, NC My present VIC Card that they will not accept is 4-096787326-1. I do not have any problem with my card at the checkout so therefore it is working for my regular shopping but will not accept things such as my VIC Card number while trying to apply for the E-VIC CARD. It throws me out everytime I try and denies my regular card number. Please resond to this inquirery. Best Regards Llotd F. Walters SR. 110 Sagewood Rd Jamestown, NC 27282 lwalters@triad.rr.com
I have lived in Charlotte for 30 years and 99% of our food shopping is done in HT stores. With 30 years experience I can tell you the weakest aspect of the H-T operations is the restocking & replenishment process. If they are out of something, you could grow a long beard before it comes back on the shelves. Secondly, if any manufacturer produces a small, medium or large you can bet your backside H-T will only stock the smaller size. That's where their biggest profit lies. The quality of the ANGUS beef has steadily declined for some time although they would deny this and now 100% of our beef comes from The Fresh Market. Overall I rate H-T the best of the worst in Charlotte. This organization needs to hire their next president from Shop-Rite.
I have shopped at the Harris Teeter located at Goose Creek Village in Ashburn, VA three times since its opening, and my experiences there have steadily declined each time. The first time, employees were helpful, the store stocked, and check-out speedy. The second, the store was less stocked, and I actually had to return the mussels I had bought - once I got them home and opened the bag, they reeked - way beyond one or two gone bad, which does sometimes happen. I couldn't believe I had been sold them! Good seafood means no bad smell. Today, while approaching the seafood counter it actually reeked from a distance! I specifically go to Harris Teeter for the seafood and your Broadlands, Ashburn, and Brambleton stores all have good seafood and helpful, friendly employees. Whatever happened at Goose Creek?! Checkout my last two times was not expeditious - once, the clerk let the lady in front of me's child scan the items as I waited. And waited. It is more than appropriate to be kind to children, but there are appropriate times to "play" with children - not while a customer is waiting in line. And today, checkout was just totally disorganized - I wouldn't know where to start. But I did call and speak to Rodger, the store manager. I told him about checking the fish counter for bad fish, especially with the holidays upon us, and helping to organize his checkers. He referred to it as "my experience". It was mine, but friends have had similar experiences at this store. I sincerely hope that someone from corporate reads these reviews because this store needs help. Now.
I would like to give a big thumbs up to the salad bar person at the new store in Greenville, NC. The food is always fresh, bright, colorful, and most importantly, delicious. I used to get my salad at the Lowes down the street since there wasn't another choice and for the most part the salad bar was pretty good. It doesn't compare to the selection and freshness of Harris Teeter. So please keep up the good work, salad bar manager! You are keeping me coming back and shopping for other items at the store!
I have shopped at the Chantilly Virginia location since the day they opened. I have spent thousands of dollars and they employed my Son, in which case he was an exceptional employee (he was always on time, always covered shifts and always went way above his job as a cashier) WELL...today he quit..he quit because of the poor leadership of AMANDA BLAKE (Store Manager)..I called and spoke with her and she called me a (bi%#!$) and said she would NOT give me her regional's number to file a complaint and hung the phone up on me not once but twice! She is VERY unprofessional and I want MR. FRED ROSENTHALL to know what kind of person she is. I searched for an email and could not locate one and apparently I was told by a Supervisor that works at the store with Amanda Blake that the Regional Director Of HR (Susan Gibbons) will do nothing because she is good friends with Amanda Blake...So frustrating! This is not customer service!
I work for Harris Teeter in Winston Salem, NC and I have to say coporate you are doing a piss poor job. I know for a fact that my store has terrible customer service from the majority of the employees. And you treat the employees like my self like crap. I get nothing hut the run around about trying to get forms filled out and filed with HR. My stores customer service manager aka my boss has no idea what shes doing what's going on or how to talk to customers. She honestly thinks she is God's gift to the world. I am just throughly disappointed in the employees of this company. And i can assure you I will not be working here much longer.
Please Harris Teeter bring your store to Statesville NC.....I can't believe that this town has 4 (that I know of) Food Lions and not one Harris Teeter!.....We need a better grocery store and you can provide that so come on do it!......We need you here in Statesville NC............................
I too am having problems with HT. Over the years I have spent thousands of dollors there and recently I have seen an alarming rise in poor customer service. It should be noted that just looking at the recent results submitted, you have 14 who are dissatisfied and 6 who are not. No exactly a glowing recomendation. My store is #019
I was at the store in Cloverdale Plaza in Winston Salem on Sunday 07/03/11. When trying t use WIC,the manager on duty (do not know his name) and the cashiers all said (not all cashiers do WIC we will have to call the manager). Is that customary? Do you not want WIC business, if not, let the state know. This was very frustrating and embarrasing for us. We use WIC because my daughter could not find a job for two years due to the recession. This extra help from the state is greatly appreciated. We do not get any other kind of public freebies. I feel this was rude and not necessary. I know your prices are the highest in the state and our city but we had some coupons that we wanted to use in that store and thoguht we would just get everything at once. What is your policy and WHY did this happen.
I am most upset with Harris Teeter- they are putting in all of their own products (mostly) and one no longer has a choice- the prices have gone way up- Fresh Market is now a better deal! One of our stores has 15 cases floor to ceiling of frozen pizza and they added a fresh pizza place on the other side of the store- absurd!! They sell Palmetto Pimento Cheese for $2 more than Costco. Last week I had to go to two stores to get carrots- all were limp even the organic ones. BIGGER IS NOT NECESSARILY BETTER and they are getting way to big and cannot keep their stores stocked properly. I am losing interest in them very quickly. If I'm going to pay their prices, I may as well go to Whole Foods or Earth Fare.
