Goodwill in Fairmont, West Virginia is selling, donated purses/handbags for 25.00 to 40.00 a purse. Some purses are used some purses look new. They are pricing the counterfeit purses at 35.00 to 45.00, the same price as in the stores that sell counterfeit purses, these purses are not marked authentic. Goood will in the neighboring town of Bridgeport, WV. sells purses/handbags for 3.99 each and authentic purses for 14.99, which i consider very good and honest. But, in regards to the Goodwill in Fairmont, WV., I tried several times to contact the district manager who, never seems to be at the number i was given,"by goodwill". These prices are not"Goodwill" prices, if we as consumers cant turn to our local Goodwill stores, then we should start shopping at other agencies who really offer "GOODWILL" to the communities.
Goodwill Industries, You are hereby put on notice! We have here in WAVE country have what they call the troubleshooter. AN investigator that can find out why the best donations never make it to the main floor. And the donations that do are priced at retail & above!
Why are there signs posting the prices for items but then the items have a different price marked on them different than the posted price? Of course it is not a lower price it is higher.
I left a message about 2 weeks ago. It seems that it was censored. I was a Goodwill shopper for many years. So what happened to my message?
My adult daughter and I were talking just 2 days ago about how Goodwill has about 3 semi-trailers always sitting by the donation drop off area. All these cars drive up and most of the merchandise is never put in the store. They truck it somewhere. I stopped going there about a year ago. I think they put the best things online and sell the other things in lots to large independent thrift stores. All the 2 stores in Modesto have are Target returns and junk. They mark the Target things like half price. Some items are marked ridiculous prices. I never look at the jeans, and I don't think many people do because you have to stand on your head to do so. My daughter hates the way they color coordinate the clothes and the merchandise. So do I. About 5 years ago I found a pocket watch in the jewelry case. I told the clerk to hold it while I looked around. When I was ready to pay, no one knew what happened to it. It was gone. And about the same time I had 2 crystal wine glasses in my cart. The female manager saw them and took them out of my cart. She said they shouldn't have been marked. They ruin things like dolls and wicker baskets by marking the price so it won't come off. They have been around for so many years you would think they would be capable of having nice stores with interesting things people might like to purchase. They are the only store that displays everything so crazy. Maybe the "chiefs in charge" should read some of these letters and make some changes. Or maybe it is time for new chiefs. I donate to the Hope Chest or the Salvation Army. They are better organized and more trustworthy.
My mother was in the Goodwill in Cheaspeake, Ohio on Thursday the 16th . She is a regular customer and likes to shop there at least 1 time per week if not more. During this visit to shop she found two soft rubber type pans marked at .69 cents each. After she finished shopping she presented the 2 pans as well as some other items to the lady at the register. At that point the lady working the register stated the pans were not priced correctly she stated " someone changed the stickers the pans are 15.00 dollars " she basically accused my mom indirectly. This lady was late twentys, dark hair , heavy set., and has no skills to be dealing with the public. My mother is old, soft spoken, a Christian, and has been for many years and she would never ever change stickers. It was a blessing that I was not there that day this clerk would not have talked to my mom that way.
I was at the goodwill in Ozark Missouri and had an altercation with another customer, when the manager and a employee came up to defuse the situation telling us all we would have to leave if it didn't stop. When myself and my 2 friends turned our back to the irate lady and I was telling the manager how I have stopped and she is continuing to yell while I was talking to the manager.. they continued to confront me instead of the women STILL YELLING... so I told the manager in a calm collected voice that if she asked anyone to leave it should be the women who is still yelling.. as she was yet again STILL YELLING and then proceeds to poke me and get in my face while management tells me I am still continuing the altercation .. so as a result of the managers lack of action and unprofessionalism I layed my clothes down and wont shop there again as long as that manager is there. NOT TO MENTION WHEN I CALLED THE DISTRICT MANAGER SHE SEEMED VERY UNINTERESTED AND IN A HURRY TO GET OFF THE PHONE. DIDNT ASK FOR MY FULL NAME NOR MY NUMBEE TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT.
Today July 26, 2012 I went to Goodwill on Greenfield and University to speak to the Manager name Saul. I got to Goodwill early before 2:00 P.M. Saul interview me today early before 2:00 P.M. Saul the manager told me to email amber.bartos@goodwillaz.org my resume. I did email amber.bartos@goodwillaz.org my resume. Saul said for me to call him back in 30 minutes. I did call him back right away. Saul said the manager all ready accepted some one better. I got hurt when he said those hurtful words to me where I cry. I ask him, "What did I do wrong?" I have been unemployed for almost three years now. I need a job. I am hurting right now in pain. I really need a job. I thought that Goodwill will allow me to work with them. I am complaining about Goodwill now taking the jewerly out of the stores to sell online!!!!!Unbelievable. THAT is what draws customers to your stores. Duhh! The worst thing is..............and what is sad as well.................ALL the employees get what they want when the donations come in and theres really only junk for sale. the jewerly was the only thing that drew people into your stores now you'll have jacked with that as well. I have not found one dimes worth of anything in the last 8-10 times Ive been in any goodwill stores so.....................I for one(of many) WILL NOT waste my time going and finding nothing. I've seen things are only getting worse and not better. Sorry you guys will be loosing all the money we've spend at least 1-5 times a week for years. S O R R Y. I will go to any other thrift stores and spend lots of money since this is my hobby.
I live in west mesa, I worked for goodwill for a year, first at store 197 in scottsdale,the store manager doesn't care for her employees, she ignores what they have to say,but the employees their selves are really nice people, i didn't get certified for the forklift for 4 months, other employees waited 6 months, they also put off a lot of employee reviews when i did forklift training at store 188 at buckhorn(east mesa; str mngr Bill) an opportunity opened up for me, they thought i was a good worker so store 188 decided to transfer me, i then left from a a very small production room to a large fast working one. the first couple months i got promoted from a regular donation attendant to a back-up(gives production processors product) i was still waiting for my review after that because i didn't want to get promoted without a raise they put it off for another month, i finally got my review after 6 months of working at goodwill, i got a 25 percent raise, it brung me up to 8.15 an hour, it wasnt was i deserved for the kind of work i did. later down the line, we got a new production manager,aarion, he was cool for the first month or two, then he would bash on the employees and tell them everything they're doing wrong and never something their doing good little positive feedback, i got in a truck accident, it caused me to miss work for ten days cause i suffered a major concussion, i got a doctors note but according to my production manager it wasnt valid, i never recieved my insurance card from goodwill so i had nothing to give to the E.R. and urgent care wouldnt accept me, since my doctors note wasnt "valid" to him he made me get another one, i was driving all over the place because of his expectations when i wasn't in physical shape to, now i have 4000 dollars of medical bills under my name cause i had to sign in as a new patient to get another doctors note, my truck was breaking down during this, i was also homeless for 2 months prior to this and this would be the 3rd month living in my truck, after my sick leave i came back and began working again i pulled a ten hour shift the first day because i went in my usual time which i wasnt scheduled, they didnt bother to notify me, the second day, Sunday i pulled a 9 hour shift wasn't able to take breaks or lunch cause they're was only 2 people and we got 200 donations, very busy. Monday was my day off, i looked at my pay last pay stub and i guess i haven't been getting paid for my raise the whole time, that night i was making a local gas trip but my truck ended up slipping in neutral and wasn't able go in gear so i stayed at my friends house so she could give me a ride to work, in the morning the keys were lost and i was about to be late so i called the production manager, aarion, i told him i might be late or i might be absent because the car keys were missing, he told me it i cant miss work and if i didn't make it in work in 10 minutes there would be major consequences, i asked him if he could use my vacation he denied me, i explained to him about my truck, he didn't really care for it even though he knew i was homeless, and i asked him if i could get transferred to the goodwill that's next to my parents house which is down the street from where i used to live and where i was sleeping in my truck at the time, he didn't even consider it, then i bring up the fact that i haven't gotten paid for my raise since i received it and he answered back in a tone like i was stupid " oh do you really want to talk about that right now? really" i told him yeah because i was in need of the money i was missing, but he didn't really care. so i lost my job i had no way to work on the other side of town. Ive never been treated so bad at a job until store 188 im still trying to get my missing wages and vacation pay cause they haven't payed for either, and they haven't even mailed my last check stub, honestly goodwill is a nice place for customers but for employees, this store made me believe that goodwill is a bad company when it comes to they're employee treatment, its like they're trying to hold out on me to make they're pockets bigger
I just read a story about a lady who has been banned from Goodwill store. The lady came in with a service dog and they told her she had at leave because she was not carrying papers for a service dog. I have always put the goodwill over the Salvation Army stores. Not anymore how dare you do that to a person. I hope that it never happens to anyone in your families. I am sure that if it did you would all be screaming to everyone on the injustice that they recieved. I am now shopping at Salvation Army and will tell my friends and relatives.
I worked for a goodwill in Georgia and worked over anytime i was asked never got into trouble evaulations were perfect. I was even told i needed to be in management. I was still in high school. I had weeks left and asked my manager if I could go down to hours for weeks bc i was having trouble in my math class and missing my senior year,. She told me no she did not havee any part time jobs available. I turned in my 2 weeks notice and quit. The next day I was terminated. how can you be fired wen u have already quit? I was told i walked off the job and did not contact my employer when i stopped comming to work. This did not happen and my manager lied on me and nothing was done I talked to people at Dodds Ave. and they basically told me i was terminated for quitting. I am still trying to fight this because this is on my record and could cost me jobs. I would not recommend working for Goodwill or shopping there. Managers only care about themselves and money.
The Goodwill store at 9160 w state rd 84 refused to return my son's $5.00 for a toy. The toy broke as we were leaving the store and the manager refused to rectify the issue. I will be passing along the "all sales final" to all of our friends and make sure that we do not frequent this store again!!!
I have been shopping at Goodwill in Modesto, CA for years and the prices went from okay to unbearable. Why do you think that people shop at Goodwill, TO GET A BARGIN, DUH....I donate every year two to three times a year and so does my family, well guess what, that is going to stop. You people can go down with the rest of the state.You do not listen to your customers, where do you think the money is coming from, no customer, no money, get it. The store manager on Sisk in Modesto actually told her employees that they were a retail store that they were not a thrift store. That is my last trip to that store and I am sure a lot of people will stop going there. That manager is out of control. I stopped looking thru the blue jeans because I get a kink in my neck trying to see the sizes, you cannot read them because of the way they are hung. I also told them that I refuse to buy any garment that has the amount written in permanent marker inside the neck. You people had better wake up or you will go out of business just like many others.
The goodwill in Floyds Knobs,In saves the nice furniture for their friends and family. They put still shopping stickers and mark the items cheap till their family can get there
Firstly , I AM VERY AGGRAVATED WITH OUR INDIANA GOODWILLS THEY ARE ALL OVER PRICED AND THE EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE!!!! THEY GET ALL OF THIS STUFF FREE AND THEN JACK THE PRICES UP! I SAW SHIRTS MARKED UP AS HIGH AS 12.00 AND IT WAS AEROPOSTALE .... YOU CAN GET BRAND NEW AEROPOSTALE AT MALL FOR 10.00 SALVATION ARMY IS WAY CHEAPER AND THEY DO ALOT MORE FOR PEOPLE ....WHEN MY FRIENDS HOUSE BURNT DOWN THEY HELPED HER SO MUCH ....GOODWILL DID NOTHING !!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN OVER CHARGED MANY TIMES AT GOODWILL .... I EVEN HEARD AN EMPLOYEE A FEW MONTHS AGO SAY WE SHOULD MARK THE PRICE OF THIS ITEM HIGHER AND JUST LAST WEEK MANAGER WAS BRAGGING ABOUT HOW SHE CANT WAIT TO COUNT HOW MUCH THEY MADE THAT DAY.... ALSO JUST RECENTLY I WAS TREATED VERY RUDE BY CASHIER... SHE ACTED LIKE I WAS A POOR LADY AND EMBARASSED ME IN FRONT OF A LINE OF CUSTOMERS... JUST FOR THE RECORD I DONT HAVE TO SHOP AT GOODWILL I CHOSE TO JUST BECAUSE. I AM DONE NOW WITH ALL GOODWILL'S I HAVE WRITTEN TO CORPORATE ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND THEY DONT REPLY! I WOULD RATHER GO TO THE MALL AND PAY MORE MONEY FOR NICE AND NEW ITEMS THEN TO BE OVERCHARGED FOR SOME USED ITEMS ! I have been shopping at Goodwill stores for several years and have seen the prices go from fair to totally out of range for items that have been given to them. Their prices in many cases are based on retail for new items so they put them at half retail in many cases and in some cases more than retail in discount stores. The store in Norcross, Ga changes color discount each Sunday. However, instead of leaving the new discounted color items on the shelves they take them down such as their books, they leave only a few items around so they can say they offer the fifty percent discount for the new color of the week. Many times when I visit on Sunday morning around the time they open, they are busy taken all the new discount color items off the shelves and putting them in the back. When I questioned them about this they say its to make room for new items, however the new items are not the discounted color of the week. Its a huge rip off to fool the customers; when asking the staff why do they do this, the tend to not say a work, but in their eyes you can see they have been told not to respond. I believe Goodwill such be looked into for their business practices, to include how much of the profit it really going to help others, what business methods to they use to come up with the figures they claim is going toward helping others, what are the true salaries of the top officers and what live style to they have as to their reported salaries. Non profit org. should be accountable to their book keeping and show and explain where every dollar is distributed. In my opinion Goodwill is taking advantage of the non profit status for their own profits. They should be held to the same standards as all Non profit org are held to.
