I have never been treated so bad as a consumer until today. First of all I spend thousands of dollars in your stores each year. On May 7 I was in your Manchester store I was at the check out purchasing baby's sneakers that were ticketed at $3.00. the cashier said I will be right back these are marked wrong, when she came back she had put a ticket for $5.99 on the sneakers. I said I am not paying the 5.99 I am paying the 3.00 as marked. She argued so I asked for a Manager before that another sales person came along and said we make mistakes also and I said I understand but the ticket said $3.00, she said some kid must have switched them. I said there is no way the ticket was in perfect condition it was marked wrong by the store. Her name was Madeline very rude. Than came the assistant manager her name was Lauren she was even more rude. I told her I want the sneakers for 3.00 she said no they are 5.99. At that point I decided its not worth arguing with her she did not even apologize for the mistake. I can't believe that they would loose a great customer over 2.00 but they did not care. Its not the price it was the principal what kind of assistant managers do you hire. I expect someone to call me regarding this episode. 603-361-6478

In reading the above, it is apparent that TJMaxx is not the store to shop at and don't worry, I will never shop there again. If you continue with dissatisfying customers, Ross will take all of the business from you. You sales associate rang $19.98 worth of merchandise that I did not receive. Stealing is par for the course at TJMaxx it appears.

I have been an avid shopper in your store in Traverse City, Michigan ever since it opened. I have always found your associates to be friendly and courteous. However, today I was just appauled by one of the Manager's attitude at this particular store. Let me first give you some background. Several weeks ago the store offered Black Fox Fur items for sale. I had purchased a cape of Black Fox Fur from the store last year and was delighted to see more items which I intended to purchase. I particularly wanted to purchase a couple of hats. They were a little pricy for me so I decided to wait until they went on Sale. I visited the store starting on the 23rd of Dec. and continued on the 24th, and 26th. I am not a young woman so I decided to call this morning and see if the furs had gone on Sale yet. A man answered the phone and told me after some research that the hats that I was interested in were being marked down as we spoke to $99 from $149. I told him that I would be in within the hour to purchase some. When I arrived at the store because it opened at 10:00 a.m. and I was there at that time I went immediately to where the furs were being kept and a young women helped me. I asked to see the hat in mention and it was not marked down to $99 but to $119. I asked to speak with a manager and told him of my telephone call that took place not an hour before. He said he didn't know who told me that, but "It is what it is". Not a smile, not an apology, and no effort to try to find the person who told me the price of $99. I thought that was really rude but I decided to purchase 2 of the hats anyway, which I did. One for $119 and one for $39. Then I shopped a little more in the store and when I was leaving the security buzzer went off. A woman from behind the register counter came over and I held up the bag with the 2 hats. She took the package behind the counter, then came right back and said everything was ok that I could leave. I went home and was going to put the new hats in hat boxes but alas I could not. Both hats had security implements attached to them. Now, I had to go back to the store again. I'm 76 years old and going back and forth is at times a chore for me to accomplish. When I arrived at the store I went up to the register and said to the young woman who had said I could go through the security just a short time before that I had security implements on both of the hats. And she was embarrased and took them off for me. No apology however. Then the same manager was standing right next to her and I said that this was not a good day for me. First I was purchased hats for a different price than I was told by an employee. Then I left the store with security implements on the hats. I was not given an apology even then. The manager said there were only 3 men working this morning and he knew that Ron didnot tell me that. I told him that I was a good customer but after today's experience I don't think I would be shopping at this store in the future. Again, no apology, just a shrug of his shoulders. In this economy with so many qualified people out of work, one would think that a better suited person who knows how to relate to customers would be in that "managerial" position. It was evident that he was extremely lacking in people skills. And had no interest in listening to nor trying to sooth the feathers of insulted customers. If you need his name, I will be happy to get that for you. As often as I visit the store I had never seen him there before. And being manager it would have been appreciated if he upheld what an employee told a customer. If he is to remain in the same capacity of manager, it would be nice if he learned the skills of customer service of which he is lacking. T J Maxx is a fine store and I have spent a lot of money there in the past. It is a shame that this experience is clouding it's fine reputation. I was at the TJMAX store at Arsenal St. in Watertown, I felt so sorry for some workers who had oviously done a wonderfull job cleaning the floors I saw and took pictures before and after, the manager had them do eveything including her office '2 overnights work.. I will contact corporate president, I have her name and the pictures, the thing is she faxed she was unhappy with the job....and the workers never got paid...Human relation department will know about this and should search to see if corporate pay for this job but who knows who took the money.

Had a bad service at tj maxx in Hilton head is., SC. Had a problem with a credit card, but a manager didn't seem to be interested in helping or solving a problem! I just left very dissapointed...

To: Corperate office directors; Tj Maxx at 77346 where I shop all the time. They threat coustomers like a criminals. If you are returning a merchant they do anything to NOT DO IT. it's easier and at least we get some respect to our returnin rights anywhere else.No respect or help for costumers. They are RUDE...They don't do their job well.We wait forever. They add extra items that you didn't puchase. Simply HORRIBLE coustumer service.

You allow your managers to treat your employees with disrespect. These employes are not treated any better than the customers in the emails. You have longtime employes who are afraid of there managers. I have one friend who is afraid to make a Drs. Appointment and she is sick and needs surgery.

I have shopping in your stores since I was a teenager. I shop at the TJMAXX in West Palm Beach on state road 7. I purchased a ear piece from your store in Cummings Ga. On 10/11/2010 it stop working on10/19/2010 I took it back to your store state above on 10/22/2010. I was told by the clerk that their store policy doesn't take back merchandise from other stores that doesn't work and purchased from other stores. I asked for the manager and your corporate office number. She called manager but I never got the number. The clerk called manager and I heard her tell the manager that the item was only $10.00 dollars. Then she came back to me and said that she will take back the item back. I stated that the policy is 30 days with receipt. I asked her to show where is that stated what she told me in the polices.she didn't answer me. This is the second incident were I was treated very nasty on your store. A friend and I were followed around the store like we were criminals and I also was there when the manager of that store treated a older lady like dirty and then called the police on her and this woman didn't raise her voice and she spoke with a calm tone. I really try to avoid even going to that store. They treated African American in such a nasty way.

Hi, I’m happy to admit that I have a true love when it comes to TJ Maxx. I love walking in the door and never knowing what to expect and what treasures I’ll find. Most of the time, I find amazing surprises—like designer jeans for at least half the price as where I’d pay at some trendy boutique—but yesterday I had a different kind of surprise. A really bad one, actually. I was standing at a TJ Maxx counter (in Franklin/Cool Springs, Tennessee) making a return when a customer next to me was nothing short of publicly berated by Michelle G., a sales associate, who was helping her. I had been present from the beginning, since the customer had been waiting in front of me. Basically, the customer asked to exchange her shirt for a different size. The store manager said she could return her item and then he gave her a store credit on a gift card and told her she could return to the counter when she found the size she needed. About five minutes later, I was at the counter when the customer returned to the counter (as she was told to do). The sales associate, who hadn’t been present when the earlier conversation took place with the manger, was beyond rude to her because she didn’t understand the circumstances. Her tone was condescending and completely inappropriate. I wasn’t even involved in this matter, and I was totally offended and blown away at how rude the associate was being. She talked to the customer in a very demeaning manner while the customer was trying to be polite and explain that, even though she was at the Return counter, the manager told her to come back when she was ready to make her purchase. I actually heard the manager mutter, “I didn’t say that,” which absolutely floored me since I had heard the entire conversation earlier. My husband, who was standing next to me, heard the entire conversation and was shocked to hear his reply. Then, the sales associate very rudely said that she’d overlook the rules this one time, but, in the future, the customer would have to stand in other line to make purchases. At this point, the customer had enough and simply walked out, which I don’t blame her for one bit. Honestly, I’m a little upset with myself for not sticking up for that customer and not saying anything while I was at the counter. I think I was so shocked that I didn’t even know how to react. Here’s my purpose in telling you this: Discounted prices should not mean discounted service. If I ever treated my clients like your customer was treated yesterday I’d be unemployed. I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble, but there’s no excuse for how YOUR customer was treated yesterday. I worked in retail while I was in college and I understand how frustrating things can get, but trust me, in a time when the customer’s voice is easily heard through social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, a lot of people have no idea how mistreating one customer can come back to haunt. I actually work in an arena that gives me access to millions of people, both through traditional and social media. I’ve seen the impact of negative word of mouth, and it’s not pretty. TJ Maxx is a great place and has amazing products, but they’re worthless if no one is shopping there. You may want to consider reminding your employees of that.

This is a complaint about one of your stores and I am not sure if this is the correct place to file this but it was the only location I could find with complaints. On Wednesday, July 7, I went into the local T.J. Maxx which is located in Torrington, CT. While there I purchased several items, one of which was a bra. When I returned home shortly thereafter I tried the item on and it did not fit. So on the following day, Thursday, July 8, at approximately 3:00 p.m., I returned to the store to exchange it for another size. I had the receipt and all tags that were attached. I explained the situation to the woman behind the return counter and she said to go find the right size and she would hold it for me. I did find the proper size and when I returned to the counter the way in which I was treated was totally unacceptable and very rude. The woman removed the original item from the bag and in a very rude and disrespectful tone said " I cannot return this, you removed the tags!" To which I replied " I did not know that and I assumed it was going to fit and would not have to be returned". At this time another woman named Helene whom was standing next to the other woman spoke in yet another very rude tone saying " well other customers try them on without removing the tags!" I just stood there in shock feeling humiliated, not knowing how to respond as they both just stood there offering me no other options or even explaining the policy to me which I was unaware of. I simply walked out of the store very upset. I am in this store shopping 2-3 times a week and have never been spoken to in such a manner. I, myself, work in the service industry and have for over 23 years and have never treated a customer in such an awful manner. I have heard several other complaints about these older women and the way in which they treat customers and its awful. I will not return to this branch for awhile and will have to go out of town to another location. I was totally turned off by this episode that could have been handled in a much different manner. I do not have a problem with the policy but like I mentioned earlier, I was unaware of it and I simply tried it on and it took it off. I did not wear it and returned it the very next day ( or at least tried to). Now I'm out the money and the item. I thought that you should be made aware of this and I really think these women need to treat the customers better or not be employed at the store. Francine J. Patrick

I was returning a purse on 7/9/2010 when they looked at me as if I stole it. I had all the receipts and my american experess card in hand. The gal called the manager for a second opinion, never used the purse,I shop at your store every week, and never return an item, now that I had reurned this purse it was an awful situation. The manager and the clerk were speaking in their native tongue, which I do not appreciate. When in the united states, speak english please. Also, I went to buy another purse that was a little smaller and lighter, and as I proceeded to the register I changed my mind. I thought of being looked at again by these two nasty ladies. I don't appreciate this and something should be done in your Northridge Calif. store to stop this abuse. It's your loss when I decided not to buy the other purse, and I proceeded to another store. The sales girl charged me for an item that is not in the bag and another item which is in the bag.

Complaint, My nephew and some former students of mine are now working at the new TJ Maxx in Ashland, KY...he's worked for a month and just now got paid and it was short 2 weeks or so. Plus the W-9 form was lost (they said) and then the hours were lost (so the managers said) Also they would have them sign on paper instead of a clock....different people have quit due to having people come in for 2 hours one day, 5 hours another then maybe 12 hours another day....One department team leader was selected for some reason and was told not to give her that position and she was arrested for drugs last weekend. I haven't been in your store and have no plans to go to a store who don't pay their people on time and correctly. I have 35 plus years at teaching, own two other businesses (construction and door company) if I had not paid an employee ontime and correctly for amount due, one would have been straight over to the labor board. I have advised them to report this to the labor board for unfair labor practices. I am an avid shopper at your store in Williamsport, Pa., but I recently had a bad experience when shopping on 5/26/20010. I was checking out 7 items, and when I inspected my packages later that evening I noticed that one of the beautiful tops I thought I had purchased was not in the bags. Looking back on the situation, I do believe the sales clerk dropped my item in order to keep it for herself. If she does that to others, she will be letting the customers be her personal shopper. It took me 3 hours to find the beautiful top which I could have purchased for 14.99. I am concerned that you have such unreliable people working in your stores. This is a copy of a complaint that I sent to the Better Busines Buroue I was told from the manager Sandy Hendershock that she wouldn't take the dinner plates back becouse they wher purchased a long timr ago.I explained to her that the return policy clearly on the big billboard above her head that it reads that without a reciept that all returns would only be given store credit, and that it doesn't have any exceptions for a time period cut off for returns. She replied she new and didn't care.The merchadise also still has all original labels and price on the items in question.
