I also worked for hobby lobby in Indiana. They have the same management problems there as in texas and seemingly everywhere! I was fired because the manager was mad at something i did and she told me "im terminating you because I can". How nice is that right or wrong!?

I worked at the hobby lobby store in heath ohio (#273) for about 2 years. I started in November of 2009. When i first started there everyone was nice to me (including Robert Sommers, the store's head manager). A few months went by and i was beginning to be treated different, i felt like i was dirt beneath some people's feet. That June I gave my two weeks notice and quit to work with a family member. Things didnt work out and 2-3 months later i was back. Yes he let me come back because he said i was a good worker and they had missed me. But it didnt take long for the way they treated me to go downhill again. That november i found out i was 2 months pregnant. I told my supervisors and Robert that i was not to lift anything 25 lbs or over. They all understood. My work ethic stayed the same and i actually began working harder to show that just because i was pregnant wasnt a reason to be a slacker. When i was 2 weeks away from my due date and 9 MONTHS PREGNANT, Robert decided he wanted me to work 55 HOURS IN ONE WEEK, just because our store was behind doing shelve resets!!!!! and not only that i was being sent to another store which was a 45min to an hour drive away from my doctors and my hospital. I was sent to that store to help them catch up with their work which meant i had to set shelves and product with the help of only one other person who went with me. i was working 10-12 hrs in one day and i was completly exhausted by the middle of my shifts. not only that when i was a few months pregnant and my morning sickness was setting in i would call off(and i only called off because of sickness a few times during my whole pregnancy). It was usually on a monday because i would spend almost all day throwing up on sundays when they were closed and wouldnt be able to come in on mondays because the nausea hadnt subsided. when i came into work one monday i was constantly puking and i asked to leave. Robert was not happy about this and looked at me and told me "it must be monday" also i had begun to get BAD migraines around this time and one started setting in while i was working. actually come to think of it, it was the monday i had just talked about. My migraines consist of me losing half of my vision and they come on VERY STRONG. I get ocular migraines. When i explained to Robert that i couldnt see he waved his hand in front of my face and said, "you look fine to me" and sent me back to work for about another hour until i confronted him again and said i needed to leave. When i had my daughter on june 16th i took my 6 weeks leave. i came back and i was still being treated unfair. i didnt have a babysitter for my daughter one saturday (who was only 2-3 months old at the time) so i called in. the next day i was scheduled to work, on a monday, i came in and robert confronted me and stated that i was not to call off because i didnt have a babysitter again and that he KNEW i had more options for babysitters and that he wasnt stupid and that i could be replaced if need be, im sorry but he doesnt know my life and my situation to be making assumptions saying that i have babysitters. it sounded like he cared more about his work getting done than the well being of an infant child. a few weeks after that i called and told him i wasnt coming in anymore and that i quit. and that was the end of it. i just called in to see if they had the right address for my W2 and was told by one of the supervisors that she wasnt by the office to get me corporates number and to call back another time. im sorry but when it comes to my money i dont mess around. something needs to be done about the poor management at these stores!!!! and appearantly i am not the only employee/ex employee that is unhappy with the crude management.

I spent approx 1.5 hours in the Conway Arkansas lacation this evening. An ad was placed that ran out on Picture frames, shadow boxes etc. At the regester I was told that my purchase was not a frame seeomg that it did not have an eseal?? The frame was with the shawdow boxes and other wood frames, as I told them I was making an award frame with the other items. Two different youg men came up after 20 plus min to inform me I cant read. I am 58 and retired and at this point do not intend to bother you all again. Upon leaving th store the two young men got quite the laugh at my expense. I have not had this degree of customer service in quite some time. Just the same I would like a call back from your Corp as soon as possible the $15 is not the issue the stupidity and false advertising is. I have left my number on your phon answering service. I believe these gentlemens names may have been Johnatan but I am not certain

I worked for hobby lobby corp warehouse in oklahoma city okla it was horride the managers are rude this company is not a christan company it hides behind that to keep christans shoping there they dont care about there employees or family at all it just about filling orders no matter how long it takes i can go on about this company but i rather just pray for them.

I wish I could put o stars. My sister has been working for hobby lobby for five years and they told her she was too nice to be a manager when she applied so they hired someone else and guess who has to constantly train all the managers because they all came from elsewhere and know absolutely nothing? My sister. Then today 3 days before Christmas the manager tells them no one can go home til she says so and my sister has now been at work from 6am and its 11pm and she still hasn't returned. I would like to know if its such a Christian store why do they continue to allow managers such as the people in the auburn Alabama store become in charge?? If the employees wernt so job scared I'm certain every last one of them would have quit by now. Avoid the auburn store for employment!!!! Definitely don't represent the Christian attitude the company would like to put forth.

As an employee of Hobby Lobby, I would like to say how much I enjoy working in the Hobby Lobby in Columbia, Maryland. Hobby Lobby is based on Christian values which is one of the reasons I chose to work fo this company. With that in mind, I would lie to make a request. We live in an area where there are several military bases. Many times, our customers come in and ask very respectfully if Hobby Lobby offers discounts to military personnel. It's always difficult to answer, "No, I'm sorry we dont." So I am asking the CEO and others to please consider offering military discounts. It seems to me that they protect America; sacrifice greatly; and are so proud to do their jobs. Please consider helping these families. I thank for for your consideration of this request.

I am very disappointed with Corporate HQ's handling of complaints regarding management and security at the Corpus Christi, TX Hobby Lobby store (#66). From reading the above posts, it now comes as no surprise. I am a reasonable customer who was overcharged for items marked on sale. I returned to the store with the items and the receipt and was treated like a criminal by the security manager (in plain view of the manager, who did nothing). I complained to Corporate HQ but got a luke-warm response and after repeated queries, there has been only silence. This is bad for business and show no respect for customers who have the choice to shop elsewhere. I await a response from corporate and if it doesn't come soon I will take the fight to the FTC, BBB and the FBI for deceptive advertising/marketing and labor law violations. Seems the comments on this site would support that action...

I John Diaz, Former Empolyee At Hobby Lobby, Was Termenated on Wed 11/30/2011, Now I Worked for HB for alomst two years, with no complanits from customers, no warnings no writeups from the co-manager or GM, Store number 438 in Orlando,Fl went threw 3 managers, 1) Rodney whos in Fort Mayers now, Rick from N.C, And now Don L. from Tennenesse whos there now; Now to cut it short the way i was Termenated was out of anger case an point, This man had no reason to fire me, The way i see it was a set up, let me explan.11/30/2011 was our wedsday truck, He schudled half of the Employees off and the rest to come in at 1 and 4 pm, For the truck was to be late 4:30,I run the back Receiving Stock-man, I was the only one he had stay at my time 10:00a.m no problem i loved my job the money all that, What got me though is iam doing the warehouse iam doing code 8 and when the truck came i did the truck cause thats my job too, But do to the lack of people i had to run the hand truck too, So iam doin alot rite fine whatever its a job, But as iam on the truck unloading, Don L. comes on the trunk after standing around chating, comes to me in not so much of a nice tone and says are you seperating the fright correctly what are you doin, you gave her the wrong stuff, I then said in the same tone ''Would you like to do it, What do you want me to do,I cant do everything Sir'',He then said very -Sarcastially- you can go home i ignored that comment he didnt like that so he sent me home, said come in 6am.Next day i get there i do all the work, he sees me several times does not say anything, 15 min break with everyone him too still nothing after break he calls me in and then goes over the event on 11/30/2011, then says iam going to termante you today. I just want to know why my story that I posted on here Wendsday, about the way I was treated by Ritter the so called manager of the Hobby Lobby in Lufkin tx , told me I did not have any since , because I was clocking out to leave an hour and fifteen minutes after the time I was suppose to get off on Tuesday. I was the one he told , " that I don't have any since ,because a work schedule that he prints out and posted does not mean a thing, his employees gets off when he tells them they can. Employees in Lufkin Hobby Lobby cann't go by the schedule that he prints. He is the so call manager that told the lady that asked him about Hanaka decoration, that Hobby Lobby has never careried that stuff, whill he was walking by her and snickering about it. I am only telling the truth, so , why didn't my story get posted so Lufkin shoppers and employees will know what to expect when they are shopping or working there. Oh, and another thing, an employee sent me a message yesterday that if I would show up that he would let me come back to work, that this situation is normal there. In other words he will send you home hoping you will return the next day begging him to let you come back. I do not beg anyone for anything. I will not work anywhere that I have to put up with being belittled.

I was an employee up until I was told on november 29, around 3:15 pm, that if I go out the door don't come back. I wrote my schedule down on Friday November 25. My schedule had me scheduled to work 9am to 2 pm. I made a trip to Hobby Lobby on my day off, which, was Monday and wrote the schedule down again. Ritter, the so called boss, was sitting at the table watching me write my schedule down. I left and on Tuesday I clocked in aroud 8:15 am. 2pm came no relief came, 3pm still no relief, Jenny came to me and told me I could take a break as soon as onother employee returns, I told her I needed to leave ,because since the schedule showed me off at 2pm. I had made arrangements to pick my niece up from school. Ritter called me into his office and asked me why I was leaving, I told him I was suppose to get off at two , I was to go pick up my neice. He told me"IF I HAD ANY SINCE AT ALL I WOULD KNOW THAT I DO NOT GET TO LEAVE UNTIL HE TELLS ME I CAN, AND IF I GO OUT THE DOOR DONT COME BACK. I do not appreciate being told I do not have any since. He also, stated the schedules don't mean a thing to him.I asked him what he would do if he had someone at school waiting on him, he then said it again," IF YOU HAD ANY SINCE AT ALL YOU WOULD KNOW YOU DON'T GET OFF ACCORDING TO SCHEDULES. EARLIER THAT DAY A LADY ASK HIM IF WE HAD HANAKA {JEWISH } DECOR, HE WALKED BY HER GAVE A CHUCKLE AND SAID "WE HAVE NEVER HAD THAT STUFF" , and kept walking. The lady looked at me and atated," He better be glad I'm not Jewish, or he would have a lsw suit on his hands. He may still get a law suit for telling me I have no since.

I work at hobby lobby. They don't treat their employees with my respect. If you get hurt and they see you what they call slacking, then you are lazy, and you got hurt doing THEIR work. Everything is fine if you are killing yourself for them but if you get hurt you are a terrible person or they try and make you feel that way. Several individuals have asked why the store does not have motorized wheelchairs for customers instead of an old one that looks like it was donated by goodwill. Maybe if anough of handicaped individuals would complane then they would invest in decent wheelchairs.

Store #473 7:24 Oct 18/11 This complaint was sent online to your customer service Department. I wanted to make sure that it was received and show you what bad customer service I received on the above date at store # 473 in Pittsburgh, Pa. I also enclosed just a few receipts that I had laying around my home, to show you what a valued customer I could have been. I also want to let you know. I spent the entire day at Children’s Hospital. I really did not need to be treated the way I treated all over a $1.20 coupon. Mark the manager was very insensitive and completely out of line in a violation of Disability Rights. This evening I was out with my child who is non-verbal and is also in a wheel chair. We had two coupons, One for him and one for myself. We went to pay for our items. My son and I were paying for the items. We were told my son could not use a coupon because he did not hand her the money (physically). My son has Muscular Dystrophy. He is not physically capable of handing anyone anything. He does not talk and regardless of what he was purchasing he is an individual just like you and I. London was our cashier and Mark is the GM of the Robinson Township, PA store. She called him to the register. I explained to her, that he is an individual and I would like to see a manager because this is morally incorrect. The manager came to the register and repeated that my son was not able to use his coupon. I spend thousands of dollars in Craft/Hobby stores. I was just at Hobby Lobby over the weekend and spent much more money then I did today. The manager told me that there was only one coupon per family. I explained to him. I work in the mental health field. He does not know who is with me. As far as he knows, he is a client of mine a person of special needs. Ironic enough. What I was purchasing and what my son was purchasing was to fix something and it was for a client of mine who is mentally challenged. I then read my coupon after I returned all the items I purchased and read that the coupon said nothing of the sort. It stated that one coupon per person. MY SON IS A PERSON! Just because he is in a wheel chair and does not talk does not make him any different then me or you. The manager would not give me his name. I asked him repeatedly to write it down. He refused. He also said to me he is not discriminating. I now ask you. Why he would say to me, "One coupon per family" when your coupon does not say anything of the sort? This is discrimination. For me, it is the point and immoral. Me being upset has nothing to do with the $1.20 we saved with my son's coupon. I am going to contact our local office to talk to an advocate and file a complaint with the better business bureau. I should have a formal apology by the store manager. I will not be returning to do my shopping. I will be sharing all of my experience that I just went through with all my handicap friends and families. I will also share my story with everyone I know in the area. I teach and educate people of special needs. This means more to me then you know. This complaint has nothing to do with saving a buck. It is about my son not being considered a person. How many others are treated this way? Disability Rights The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law in 1990. The evidence of its success is everywhere. Handicap parking spaces, Braille instructions on ATM's, and ramps built into sidewalks have all become commonplace fixtures that make an enormous difference in the lives of persons with disabilities. And yet despite ample evidence that the ADA is working, people with disabilities are still, far too often, treated as second-class citizens, shunned and segregated by physical barriers and social stereotypes. They are discriminated against in employment, schools, and housing, robbed of their personal autonomy, sometimes even hidden away and forgotten by the larger society. By and large, people with disabilities continue to be excluded from the American dream.

I work for Hobby Lobby, I treat all customers with a great amount of respect. On the flip side we have customers who come in and talk and treat us like dogs. They want us to wait on them hand and foot without ever even a thank you. Wake up customers!!! You want to be treated good how about treating the help with a little respect too.

To the guy that say the employees of hobby lobby arel whining. Oh hello, no the treat their employees like dirt & only want them to have a certain amount of time to put things out. Which really forces the people to not help their customers out. You are probably one that is living off of the system. How would you feel if it was your mother? No I don't work for Hobby lobby & never will.

This is NOT the phone number for Hobby Lobby Creative Centers. Please do not call looking for them here; we are a company that sells radio control models. These people who are publishing this site are unable to be contacted so that they can correct their erroneous information. We are sorry but this is NOT the correct number for Hobby Lobby corporate HQ.

I will NEVER again shop at Hobby Lobby in Flint, Michigan or ANY HL for that matter. Went into this store on Tuesday, Aug 2, 2011 to do a return with a receipt (which they require) the Co-manager KEVIN was called up to approve it and took a lifetime. I was with my five year old daughter just doing a random return. This man exploded when I asked if they could look up one item for which I had no reciept for. HE THREW TWO PIECES OF PAPER AND A PEN AT MY CHILD AND I. WHEN I CONTACT CORPORATE, NO ACTIONS TAKEN. I NOW WISH I HAD CONTACTED THE POLICE IMMEDIATLY.

My name is Oscar toledo I go to Hobby Lobby alot becouse I am disabled and have taken up a hobby building Car Models. The last time I was there 7/30/2011 at 9 am the Manager came to me as I was leaving to go my car on your wheelchair that you have for us to use. He said I could not take the chair out becouse they where being stolen by people. I was able to walk in with my little girl that is 7. Even thou I can walk short distances I get very short of breath, I have COPD, Ashma, and only have One Lung that works, On top of that I am a hart patient... This manager on duty has a problem with me he looks at me if I was a shoplefter or someting every time. This makes me very uncomfortable. I`am not a shoplefter by allmeans. I`am a Christian that knows what is good and bad. I used to be a Manager in retail I know how to take care of all custumers the right way. This manager even after he said that to me at the exit front doors went to help an associate load up a automobile for a customer. He was maybe thirty yards from my car. Why could he not just of gotten the wheelchair after he helped loading the automobile? Good question ha, Is this the way your Company handles Handicape Customers? If this continues there (will) be questions that your Company will have to explain.Look at the time and date and you can find out what manager it was. It was the store in Jacksonville Fl, on Old St Augustine Rd. Next to the Holiday Inn.

Mr. Jimmy at the Hobby Lobby in Webster Tx. Is THE BEST~THE BEST! I shop Hobby Lobby almost weekly, and I can honestly say that I have never had an issue with him. I think he is very kind & always says hello when I am in the store. Also, I am able to return items with no problems. If an employee should give me a hard time I will contact Mr. Jimmy and I am confident he will rectify the situation. If you are not happy with the Hobby Lobby in your area shop this store you will walk away a HAPPY customer.

I was going to send a resume to corporate to see if I could get a position at the Hobby Lobby that is opening in my hometown this fall. Thanks to all the feedback, good and bad, I have decided to seek employment elsewhere.

the company is not a bad place to work for . the problem is the gm's , managers , co managers , they do not know how to treat people . mr green and bill woody are nice , they will speak to you anytime they walk by . as far as the rest they wouldn't throw water on if you were on fire , with a couple exceptions (todd newell , jesse ,steve parker ,lance ). the ones in sendouts are the worst they will ignore you , laugh at you , take your ideas for thier own . God for bid , if you speak your mind about something . some couldn't manage themselves out of a wet paper bag . one had to do something speacial to become a manager. the teamleaders are even worst they stand around and talk most of time . i know it sounds like i'm a disgrutal empolee , but i'm not , i am more anoyed than anything. some investigating needs to be done about how they got their jobs. it sure wasn't because they worked them or their knowledge .
