Had a very frustrating customer experience while attempting to do some back to school shopping at Store# 60 located in Harford County MD. While shopping in children's clothing a customer associate (who I later found out is named Lynn) followed me around the store. Everywhere me and my children went in the small section of the department she was there breathing down our backs. It was so obvious that she was following us for all the wrong reasons. Each direction we turned she was there and if I I bent over to view low hanging items located on a double rack she was there to meet me as soon as I came up; there staring at us. Staring to make it known that she is 'watching us'. Being followed and looked upon in such a suspicious manner of course made me very uncomfortable (which was probably her intent). At one point I walked away to see what she would do and we ventured over to the price checker which was closer to intimates section than children's clothing and what do you know, soon as I finished checking the prices she was there to ask me for the 50th time "Do you need help". Feeling uncomfortable by her overbearing presence and not wanting to rush to judgement; we left the store without the clothing. The next day I visited the same store alone and the same associate was there. I watched as other shoppers frequented the children's section. She did not make a point to follow or 'harass' these customers, yet as soon as she saw me "Do you need help ma'am" I politely say "No thank you". Next thing I know she whispers in another associates ear and walks away. Once she walked away the other associate begins to stare at me. At this point I ask for a manager and voice my concerns to both Lynn, the associate and the Manager. Lynn of course looks dumfounded as if all was imagined. All the while she made no attempt to explain nor deny her ever present and lurking behavior which ruined my shopping experience. My experience at this Macy's was horrible and I felt profiled while shopping. After voicing my concerns to the manager I called Macys customer service to report this incident and was told that it would be looked into. I hope this incident is followed up as no one should be made to feel that way.

By far the most unprofessional corporation I have ever worked for. The managers, if they can call themselves that, are so rude and unhelpful it is a joke. Macy's preaches "assist and connect," but they treat the hourly employees like dogs. I have seen managers degrade and berate people in front of other co-workers. The lack of competency is also a huge issue. Where do they find these morons? They expect us to be friendly to our customers but turn around and be completely disrespectful to us. The turnover rate at the store I was at in St. Louis was very high but management is not intelligent enough to realize they are the reason why people do not stay. And the point system? Seriously?

Today a Macy's cashier asked to see my driver's license twhen I was using my Macy's card to buy a pack of sox. She then began to input my license number into their system. I stopped her before she could finish and told her that I do not want Macy's to have such private information. She replied that the transaction could not be completed without that information. I have never had that happen to me ever before at Macy's and told her so. I last used the card about 3 weeks ago and no such thing occurred. I told today's Macy's cashier that Macy's could keep the sox because I prefer to keep my driver's license number private. I then complained to a manager there about it but all she could do was confirm that Macy's often required that the license number be recorded, and apologize about it. I refuse to have my privacy violated at Macy's or anywhere else. Seriously, Macy's, I do not need any product you're selling more than I value my privacy. Please stop the harassment.

What does Macy's do with their damaged and salvage clothes?

Macy;s Downtown Brooklyn store has an opening for a part time sales associate - job #: 71025756 and I have applied for this position. It is quite sad that your Brooklyn store does not even acknowledge my application. I have worked for over 40 years in the legal field; simultaneously I worked in Gimbel's East on the weekends. I truly will go out of my way to help any human being. I am quite disappointed in your store for not using my services. Are you against older women working for your company. I have been a customer of your store for over 20 years. Is that how you treat valuable human beings.

appearantly no one from macy's reads these comments........... my wife works for macy's in muncie indiana..........I'm so sick of her being agravated to the point of tears when she can't make her sales "goal" what a stupid assed system.........if she was being paid commision it would be another story but......... this system is insane......constantly pittin one employee against another.....Macy's has got to be the PUKE place of the nation to work !!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I had an interview at your lynnhaven va beach va store for visual merchandiser . This position has been posted for some time now. I have to say in my experience your company lacks in professional interviews. I was sent an email and scheduled my interview the very next day. When I went in for my interview I was not even given the chance to interview with the right manager. My interview persons name was Kathy which she had told me she was not the merchandise manager but she would take a few notes and pass it on to the right manager. My interview was 3 questions she never took any notes. This took no more then 10 min of her time. In which took up 1 1/2 of my time to drive there then sit there to not even get a chance to have my interview with the right manager and the lack of respect that the women never even took notes to pass on to the currect manager. I do not feel you have and equal employment opportunity available because if your did I would have been give the respect and a faire chance that should have been given. I feel that your system may not work that well for your schedules for interviews. I feel that they just put someone in the room with me just to get me out of there. Today I called and spoke to the merchandising manager and asked if the information had been given to him, he replayed yes the only thing that manager had to go off of was my resume that I had given to the other manager. I had asked him if the lady had any note he was unable to tell me said the information was not in front of him. I believe there was no note ever taken. So the lack of professional interviewing just costed u a great employee with many years experience in this type of work. Good luck. Hope this help your company get on the right track in conducting your interview more appropriately.

PRETTY MUCH THE WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR EVER.GO WORK THERE AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME. COPORATE DRIVES THE MGRS TO THE BRINK OF LOSING IT. THEY JUMP IN THOSE PLASTIC BUBBLES IN THE POOL FOR A HALF AN HOUR AND GET PAID FOR IT ON THERE WAY TO THE OTER MACYS IN TE SAME MALL AND IS NOT EVEN THEIR BREAK OR LUNCH. WORK THEIR EMPLOYEES LIKE SLAVES FOR 8 DOLLARS A FREAKIN HOUR. THEN GIVE YOU 4 HOURS TO 20 HOURS A WEEK BUT EXPECT 40 OR MORE HOURS WORTH OF WORK DONE IN THE ALOTTED TIME. THE WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR EVER. LIKE I SAID IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME GO WORK AT MACYS AT THE CAPE COD MALL AND FIND OUT YOURSELF. REMEMBER I DIDNT SAY A WORD ABOUT THE MGRS BUT COPORATE.

macy's corporate really needs to check the management of chicago macys water tower store it is ridiculous in how they treat the employee's. most of us really need our jobs

Macy's supervisors are the RUDEST people with absolutely NO PEOPLE SKILLS! They do not work WITH Single mothers going to school with a setup payment plan so the that mother and her child can get out on their own. MACY'S SUCKS! Even after you close your account, they still want to charge late fees AND interest. This information should be read by corporate headquarters. I will let them know how I feel one way or another.

I have worked at Macys for about 9 months and I have noticed why they have a revolving door just like they have a revolving account. First the myschedule plus is crap right a long with the point system. You mean to tell me a huge corporation like Macy's couldn't think of another way to fire their associates. For every point you miss is closer for you to be out the door. You only start off with 6 or 7 points but you can get up to 12 points if you don't miss a day or be late for a month. So what happens if you are in the hospital and sick for 12 days that means when you get out, you don't have job. What happens if you leave Macys early for an emergency you loose a point. You are going to loose valueable and profitable business due to this point system. Customers depend on their assoicates to help them especially the ones they are use to seeing, we are the ones who they depend to help them shop, this is why they buy more. When they don't see the same faces or get the same type of treatment they will eventually look somewhere else to go shopping. Macy's need to realize that Macy money isn't everyting. What keeps employees there is respect. The only reason why associates are still holding on to Macy's is because of the recession, once that is over see how many associates will eventually leave, leaving your company looking bad. Your company is starting to remind me of Walmart. A Billion dollar business but no workers and angry customers. SHAME ON YOU MACYS!

My sister apply for a job at Macy's i have a cousin that works at the same store. So my sister got a interview and she said that they liked her and everything good right, wrong they told my cousin after the interview that they could not hire anyone in the family at the same store and that it was policy, huh hello you knew they were cousins before the interview so why did they waste my sisters time.

I submitted a resume for a sales associate position that was posted on Macy's web site. The sales position was posted as "full time/part time" what exactaly does that mean? On the application where it stated my desired pay rate I filled in $10.00/ hr. and thought that would be reasonable since I had over 10 years retail sales experience. I also have a college degree and previously worked for Macy's many years ago p/t to put myself through college. My first interview went well and my next interview was scheduled with an HR person. The HR person asked me if the previous interviewer told me the hourly rate I said no, and she explained the position pays $7.25/hr. which I could not believe. The rest of the interview went well however the HR person stated that the position would never pay $10.00/hr. and at the most maybe 8-9.00 but thats usually when employees work their way up to a management position. I know that when a potential employer talks about compensation being less than what you requested it is best to discuss all of your qualifications and what you the "potential employee" can bring to Macy's. After discussing my qualifications I was told that other candidates were being interviewed and a decision would be made in a week. I recieved an e-mail that read...(We have carefully reviewed your skills and qualifications. Unfortunately, your desired rate of compensation does not correspond with the hourly pay range available for this position sincerely HR Macy's). Really!.... after interviewing with two people you would think the HR female would have the decency to add her full name to the letter so that I could at least mail a thank you letter. But then again maybe I shouldn't because it is not worth the cost of a card and stamp. The pay rate for jobs in Delaware is very depressed, just driving to both interviews on two seperate days was not worth my time and not to mention cost for gas. I am a homeowner with a pt job that does not pay enough to keep my home, I have to work another 10 years before I can retire with a small pension and SSI. I had a good full time job for over 18 years and the company went out of business and my salary has been declining with every job I had since then. I remember when employers invested in their employees so they can expect professionalism and company loyalty you know "take pride in your job" ethic and remain with them and grow with the company, well that ethic is all out the window. People are moving back with their parents and have children to feed as well and cannot make it on minimum wage, and I am talking about people I know with college degrees and work experience. One night I was shopping in Walmart and was talking to an employee about the cost of food going up and how I have to modify my food selections and she told me she can barely afford the ramin noodles she is currently surviving on " I walked away and cried because by her "physical appearance" she was very sincere. How is it that large retailers won't pay their employees enough to even pay insurance premiums for health care coverage to get their teeth fixed, eyes checked and to buy decent clothes, not to mention grooming hair, nails, makeup, etc., and yet they expect you take pride in your job and do it with a smile and "no teeth"! Another person I talked to that worked for a big box store said her part time hours were not enough days to pay for her health insurance plan and that she had to ask a co-worker to work some of her shift just to pay her insurance! What is going on today is very sad and depressing. All we can do is hold on to the jobs we do have and write to our politicians in Delaware for a minimum wage increase like they are doing in New Jersey, I think it is now approved from 7.25 to 8.50, that is still low but maybe enough for some people to get off subsidized living and maybe have one job instead of holding 2 or 3 part time jobs to make ends meet. Good luck to all of the people who have jobs today, and the ones still looking, keep trying. I hope this letter gives some insight as to what's going on in the life of the average hard working american tax payer trying to survive on next to nothing. As for Macy's employees "the few that I see in the store" try to work your way up the corporate ladder if their is still one that exists, and maybe you will be able to afford the quality of life we all deserve. I know Macy's wants you to dress and look professional so I will offer some advise...you can find some good buys at the salvation army I bought some black slacks and blouses for $3.50 each. Just think I used to donate to those types of stores and now I am shopping there...Come on retirement I am tired of this rat race.

This goes out to Macy's Fan. If you think Macy's is so grand try working there. I bet you'll change your mind.

I ordered a coffee pot in the store and was told it would have to be shipped to me and I would receive it in 5-7 days. It took 7 days and when I opened the box the plastic filter holder was completely broken maybe a shipping issue, so I had to go to UPS and ship back, I was told they would send out another. Another 7 days went by and finally received the second one, which, when pulled from the box, the bottom left side had a huge crack in it. I called customer service (in another country apparently). The rep was so hard to understand, however I told him that I did NOT want another coffee pot shipped out, that I just wanted a refund at this point and I will be shipping the damaged one back the very next day, which I did. About a week later UPS showed at my door with yet another coffee pot which I refused! I called the customer service line again and was told that they would look into this matter. I told them they had already received the return per tracking info. That was weeks ago, still no refund. I called again today to get a rep in another country, could not understand him at all and it sounded as if he were under water. Horrible system, I can't believe yet another example of an "American company" outsourcing and creating not only jobs for other countries, but the worst customer service ever! I will never shop at Macy's again!!

I applied for the open position beauty advisor in Macy's store (Esplanade mall, Kenner, LA) last week. I was scheduled for the interview on May 21, 2012 at 5:00 pm. Today, I was interviewed by Mrs. XX since the manager of the beauty department was “in the lunch” (as I was told, exactly in the time of the lunch). I explained very honestly that I am disabled person but willing to work, extremely skilled in beauty, cosmetics and fragrances holding several certifications in this field. I answered very professionally all questions that I was asked on the interview. As Mrs. XX was not able to make the final decision, she left the interview to ask the beauty manager for the final consultation. She has returned back and stated that Macy’s DOES NOT have (currently) any open position. I was disappointed since I was officially scheduled for this interview, several times contacted as a reminder for the interview with the option of rescheduling etc, etc. I kindly protested as the position was advertised on the Macy’s job website SPECIFICALLY for the Macy’s store at Esplanade mall, Kenner, LA. I spent my time for the interview totally useless, I was mistreated and disrespectfully rejected for no reason. If my disability is the reason, we will investigate even this option soon and take legal action against this mistreatment and disrespect!
