On August 9, 2010 I purschased my first laptop which for me was an important buy. Due to me being unemployed like many others I enrolled to online course to better my chances in being able to be re-employed. But to my surprize on October 7, 2010 just shy of two months the monitor turn black and as many of the complaints i've read I too went through the worst time in trying to speak with a human and when I did it was awful customer service with India and the english they where both rude and with horrible attiude problem. The motherboard also went bad with only shy of two months they had it for a total of 17 days to only get it back worst it had virues that won't there before and the screen would turn white and back and fourth switching, battery life very short. Then only 14 days of it being service the monitor turn black again. Went again through the horrible experience of tecnical support and they want me to ship it to them so that he could be "repaired" but I'm very afaid of what will happen to it. With all the stories I've read it's obvious that GATEWAY does not give a damn about their product or reputation I think I should just paid for someone else to have it fix I 'll save myself from all the aggravation and sanity I'm a middle-age women with health problems and I'll be damn if GATEWAY will get the best of me. What I don't understand is with so many complaints why aren't they out of business and/or a class action law suit. I just don't get it?

Gateway is full of it. I have a Gateway laptop and have not had it for a year and the customer service in India sucks. The guy David(GWSI213) refused to give me the corporate office number. I do not understand why I have to call India for assistance when I paid Dollars for this piece of crap. For everyone that is disgruntle with this piece of crap just finance one and avoid all the calls and do not pay them any attention or money. I spoke to three different people and not one could help me. Why in the world would I pay for shipping and handling, when I have paid for this in full, I still have to drive and use someone else computer.

Gateway is poorest in customer servivce. Their Tech. Dept. is bench of cheap and cheat technicians. Gateway Repair Shop called me with message that my computer is ready. At the time of pick, I test the computer, the problem was still there. Technician told, that he knew this application was not working. Then they called to pick the computer. If I haven't tested computer right at their repair centre, then gateway will blame, it was working when delivered to me. I did some thing wrong. I am suffering with this computer with more than 6 months. But no hope, they will fix the computer. Gateway used very cheap parts but charging 1st class price. I will not recomend any one to buy gateway products.

I gave them 1 star because zero was not an option. The outsourced customer support is horrendous with canned answers time after time. It took me 6 emails to kind of get an answer to my question for what an error code meant. They sold me the wrong recovery disk and keep telling me that since it was opened they will not accept it for return...not sure how I was supposed to realize it was the wrong disk until it failed to run on the computer. While the computer worked Ok for 3 years...its now a large paperweight as they don't stock anything for computers over 3 years old and my only option is a brand new retail version of windows to see if that might boot. Horrible horrible customer service...i would never buy a gateway product again.

I totally agree with you. gateway is one of the most crooked companies out their. I have been calling trying to get the situation resolves with my suppose to be brand knew 17' screen labtop for about 3 weeks now. We PURCHASED FOR OUR CHURCH TECHNICAL DEPT AND I GOT A LEMON. I CALLED TECH SUPPORT MORE THAN 5 OR 6 TIMES PAID 26.00 TO SEND THE COMPUTER BACK TO GET IT FIXED. GOT IT BACK TODAY 10/11/ 10. AND THE DVD DRIVER STILL DOESNT WORK. THEN THE WANT TO TELL ME WHEN THEY SHIPPED IT IT WAS WORKING. SO AFTER GETTING IT BACK HOME PUT THE DISC IN TO INSTALL NORTON BACK ON IT IT WOULD NOT WORK!!!! YES I AM SO MAD!!!!! I CALLED HSN AND TOLD THEM THAT I WILL NEVER BUY A COMPUTER FRON HSN. THEY BUY JUNK. NOW GATEWAY IS A BUNCH OF JUNK. I THEN WENT IN AND DID MY OWN TROUBLESHOOTING AND AFTER THEY TOLD ME THAT THE COMPUTER WAS FIXED WHEN IT LEFT THE REPAIRS. IT WASNT BECAUSE I WENT IN AND I DID SOME RROUBLE SHOOTING "THE COMPUTER" TOLD ME THAT IT DID NOT AND I REPEAT DID NOT HAVE INSTALLED A PLAY BACK FOR THE DVD DRIVER. THE COMPUTER AFTER SCANING FOR ERRORS SAID A PLAYBACK DIVER WAS NOT FOUND ON THE COMPUTER AT ALL!!!!!! NOW YOU TELL ME IF THEY FIXED THAT WHY DO I HAVE TO SEND THE CHURCHES COMPUTER BACK TO GET FIXED A SECOND TIME!!!!!!!!!! i AM GOING TO SPREAD IT EVERYWHERE I GO DO NOT BUY A GATEWAY COMPUTER, ACER OR ANYOTHER BRAND!!!!!!!! WORD OF MOUTH HURTS!!!!

gateway has piss poor customer service the rating is below zero. every gateway product is going into the garbage.no wonder why there customer service line are always busy there products are junk/ word of mouth advertising is the best advertising and i will tell everyone ont and i repeat not to buy gateway

Once one of the best companies for customer service, now ranking as zero. I plan to get rid of any and all Gateway products I own after my abyssmal experience in attempting to reach customer service.
