I went to Things Remembered at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, NC and will never return. The salesman was very nice and accomodating at first, until I started to question the charges. Everything seemed very expensive! After I paid, I had second thoughts and told the salesman that I would look around for some less expensive frames, then bring them back to be engraved. When I went back with my own frames, he seemed VERY irritated about refunding $60 for the cost of the original frames. (I found $10 frames at another store in the mall.) His explanation of the charges was ridiculous and very hard to follow; I felt like I was getting swindled by a used car salesman. I'm picking up my engraved plates for the frames tomorrow and hoping for the best.

My friend started working for the company about 2 weeks ago and she will get paid on 10/14/2011. Well, they use a pay card and she was told to call and set it up 10/12/2011. Soooo, today they tell her, after she called and they(automated voice) that her information can not be found, that her I9 wasn't turned in on time so she will have to wait 2 more weeks!!!! Outrageous!!!! As I am a manager with a large company, this is not good business!!! She quit today and is calling the labor board. If you can't treat your employees right and can't pay them on time, then you need to close shop now!

I purchased a small silver box with my grandson's name on it as a keepsake for being a ringbearer in a family wedding. The box fell apart the same evening he opened it. I took it back to the Park Meadows store in Lone Tree, Colorado and was given few options - the box could not be fix, would not be replaced and my only option was to BUY another box and the store would engrave it at no cost. The ONLY THING I'LL REMEMBER about this company is POOR QUALITY, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and a company that does not stand behind their products. Terrible!!! I'll never buy another thing from Things Remembered!!

I can only say do not buy anything from this company ever it is a waste of your money and the staff will be rude to you.

Your feedback is very important to us! Thank you for posting your concerns and questions. Please contact our Customer Care department at 1.866.516.8474 so that we can follow up with you promptly.

I have ordered two gifts in your Springfield mall VA store, the lady who introduced herself as second shift manager and did not want to tell her name told me that my order will be ready In one hour, I said ok I will be waiting. She made me wait for one-hour and after waisting one- hour of my time she turned and asked me that when I needed my order. I am so upset waiting outside off mall for an other 45 minutes so she get done my order, she did not only apologized but also threatened me that she will call the security Beside waisthing my time and making me so upset she refused to provide me with the corporate contact number It's 6:55 pm Aug 20th 2011 And I am still waiting for my order It was a bad ordeal, I will never do bussiness with you again Sorry for my broken English

As a former employee of Things Remembered, I know all of your complaints for the company and I agree with you. The company is not honest, and does try to squeeze every dime from you that they can. We are trained to do add ons upon add ons, and it is ridicuous. You do NOT have to upgrade the font to a premium font, the standard ones come out fine. You do NOT have to use color fill, although I personally like it on glass items. Engraving is a 6 dollar minimum. This covers your first letter to the first two words. You can do something very simple and only pay that amount for it. Also, the Rewards Club is a total rip off, unless you are a frequent buyer. For example, they'll tell you that you get a 10.00 gift check just for signing up... Wrong. If you spend 75.00 or more when you sign up, thats when you get it. Other than that, its for every 100.00 you spend within 18 months you get the 10.00 back. In addition to all that, the merchandise they sell is SO freaking CHEAP! The jewelry is crap, and everything is cheaply made and falls apart. Now, as for the company and its employees... they put SO much pressure to "sell sell sell!". We had hourly, daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly goals. When those goals are not made, we are penalized. Thats why most people are so pushy. Its because if they don't, their boss is up their butt about their numbers and it affects everything. I will never shop there again after how I was treated, and I was a store manager.

I purchased 2 padfolios with personalized plate over the phone and had them shipped....first off talk about CHEAP!!! WOW! And then there was a HUGE dent in the leather on one of the portfoilios...both name plates were NOT centered...they were SIDEWAYS....way overpriced and cheap junk....and of course the policy is---if engraved they will not refund....I will literally NEVER shop at ANY of their stores again and hope they plummet in the bad economy...OH YEAH I SAID IT....

I was recently in the Northpark location and i must say I will not shop there again! I was being helped by a woman named Kim I believe and talk about rude!! Then on top of that the engraving prices are unbelievable!! The product seemed priced ok for most of it but the engraving cost YIKES! You should really work w your employees on just being nice, not rude.

Your store is a joke. You charge ridiculous amounts for engraving. There are hidden charges all over the board. You never have enough staff to help out the customers properly. Engraving is hit and miss each time I shop there. The employees seem overworked and to exhausted to care. I will no longer shop in your stores.

We have recently purchased several items from the Things Remembered store (#524) at the Westfield Mall (formerly Belden Village) and had been quite satisfied. On Friday June 3rd however, my daughters went to purchase some engraved glasses for our 25th anniversary. When my daughter approached the store associate who was typing on the computer and asked 'Excuse me' she got the hand - not 'just a minute please', etc. So my daughter patiently waited. When the associate was finally ready, my daughter asked if she could get some wine glasses engraved - and asked if there were different glasses for red or white wine. The associate told her 'yes'. My daughter then explained she wanted glasses for red wine and asked if she had selected the correct glasses. The associate, who was holding the glasses said, "Well, what does it say on the bottom?" (sarcastically) It's clear that this associate (#26 according to the sales receipt) believed it was an effort to help and to take our money for the purchase. I don't think I'll 'trouble' Things Remembered with my business going forward. My daughters both attend college, and don't have a lot of money. They were excited to purchase these items for us. It's quite disappointing that they were treated this way.

Real simple. Things Remember does not have an engraving font for "free" anymore that will look good on any product they sell. You must upgrade the font and fill (Black/Silver), which they sell you without disclosing the cost. TO HAVE ANYTHING ENGRAVED IT STARTS AT $12.00. MAKE THEM DISCLOSE TO YOU THE CHARGE FOR EACH LETTER $3, WORD $3, COLOR FILL $6, AND FONT $3. A $25.00 Dog Tag for a child will cost you $27.00 extra for just a name / date, without Tax. A $60.00 Portfooli with 3 Intitials will cost you $18.00 extra, without tax. Very unhappy, requested a full refund.

Hello, Recently, I had shopped in your Buena Park location. I bought two water globes and had them both inscribed. I am here to write about the shady service that I received from the manager named Art. I am very unhappy with it. First of all, I was shopping with my baby, who was very unsettled at the time, so I was slightly flustered. Despite this, I needed to buy a gift urgently for a last minute occasion, so there was no other option but to shop with my child then and there. Well the manager seemed quite accommodating to my situation at first. He "helped" me pick out the font, words, images etc and deeply encouraged me to become a member. So I did, just as I do at all major stores, such as Ralphs, CVS, Rite Aid etc. Not even thinking twice. Everything seemed fine, until I got home, settled my baby and looked through my purchase receipt. I had realised that everything great that Art "OFFERED" me came at a price. This is what has made me mad. What I thought was a salesperson giving the customer service expected from a reputable company, was in fact more like a slimy, money hungry con-man. Here I was was thinking he was helping out a stress out customer, who needed to be in and out of there as soon as possible, but now I know that he was just trying to meet his sales target for the day. Everything that he "offered" me cost EXTRA. The font, the image, the membership. I mean, that is totally fine if the fine print was explained to me, but knowing that I was preoccupied with my baby, he was heavily encouraging me to get this or that, but without explaining the extra costs. "This font is our most popular….blah, blah, blah….but not telling me that it was an extra $3….."Join the membership club….it's great"….blah, blah, bah….Not telling me that it costs $5. There is NO WAY I would've joined Things Remembered if I knew it cost something. Plus, I never received the bonus/voucher or whatever he was talking about when he offered it to me. It was honestly an extra $5 here, $3 there, but it all added up. To an extra $20-$30. What makes me angry more than anything, is the fact that I was running around like a chicken with her head cut off and he chose to capitilize on my state, rather than to provide me with good customer service. He really made me believe that I would benefit from the choices that he offered me, knowing full well that only he would benefit only. Thanks to Art, I will NEVER EVER EVER, walk into another Things Remembered again, let alone part with any of my hard earned money there again. Thank you Things Remembered for hiring a con-man dressed as a Pastor to run their store. He may not of ripped me off of thousands of dollars, but it is the principle of it. I do not appreciate being "hustled" buy a white collar man who works in a "trinket" store. The funny thing is, is that I am an Interior Designer and I have always encouraged my clients to add a personalized element to their decor. That piece of advice is going out the window now!! There goes thousands of dollars towards your profits down the drain. Please contact me on crankybuddah@gmail.com if you can rectify the situation.

i sent a gift to my boyfriend jus two days ao it arrivied on time, but it was so small. i ordered the football clock. i payed 25.00 and 40.00+ for engravement. i feel like i was riped off, because it was avertized to be a bigger size. i am very unpleased. thank you natica

In February, 2011 my husband and I purchased a beautiful, silver photo album that we had engraved commemorating our 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary. When we purchased the album, the refillable photo pages were the wrong size. We needed thirty 8x10 photo pages. We purchased our photo album at the Streets of Southpoint mall in Durham, NC. At the time, a gentlemen by the name of Dave was the temporary manager. Dave told me and my husband that he would order the refillable photo pages for us and mail them to us. By the month of March we still did not have our photo pages. Toward the end of March, I phoned the Southpoint mall store again to learn that Dave was no longer working there and that the store now had a new manager by the name of Rose. I explained my situation to her and she said that she would look into it and call me back. She also suggested that I try Michael's and/or A.C. Moore's for refillable photo pages which I did. It is now April and I still do not have the correct photo pages. I (Ruth) just got off of the phone with Rose, the store manager. She is in the store alone with eight customers and was unable to speak with me. It is my experience that I am receiving poor customer service from the clerks at your Streets of Southpoint location. Please let me know if, in fact, I am able to receive the necessary refillable photo pages for my photo album. If not, I will return the album to the store for a refund. With regards, Jeff and Ruth Browning

I recently purchased a 5 in 1 pen for my son's graduation. The pen and it's accessories are black and silver. The clerk advised me which font would look good on it and I went with her advice. However, GOLD was never mentioned. When I got the pen and saw huge gold lettering, completely overpowering the barrel of the pen, I was definitely not expecting that. Because there was an ice storm and by then (7:30 p.m.) my car and the streets were covered with ice, I didn't stick around to have it changed. When I called after the weekend, thinking I would get a manager, I was told that it could not be redone because I had left the store with it!! Then I was told they would redo it if I purchase a new item...at almost a hundred bucks plus engraving costs, that is not an option in my book. The "managers" and "assistant managers" are very young kids who don't have a clue what good taste is and are probably just following their company directions. What terrible customer service!!! If it had been a ten-dollar item that's a different story. But, this is an expensive "pen" and is for a very notable milestone. To have it be done in such poor taste is beyond disappointing. I will never purchase anything from this store again!!

I was a recent employer there here in melbourne florida and i quit in November , i was told by mananger Vicki the i was to recieve my bonus for the month of october, for sales and other which totled about 160.00 she told me it would be on my next check and it was not, She kept trying to get me to quit the last two months so i finally did to make her happy but still have to received my bonus i was entitled to since i worked that month and made the sales goal that we were striving for had i not been there working they would have never met there sales goal. I left Teena a message letting her know im waiting for my money and im tired of waiting, i have talked to the labor board and they are ready to take action if i dont receive what im entitled to not to mention the verbal abuse from teena. So please Pay me what i was entitled to recieved for my asst manager duties from sept to october since we made our month i want bonus ...... brandiesimms@yahoo.com

the customer service in this corporation is a complete joke!the policies they have are in very fine print noone takes the time to explain anthing to the PAYING customer. I had to go back there 3 times for one order, once because they over charged me for engraving"keep an eye out on that" another time for a cracked insulated coffee mug"glad i checked it before i gave it as a gift" and a third time because a bracelete purchased as a gift did not fit i simply wanted to extend it and was sent to time after time in the deptford mall where the sales woman explained she couldn't fix it and they always send customers with this crappy merchandise to her and is basically ripping these people off because of their return policy and noone tells u at the time of purchase that jewlery cannot be fixed or they dont even carry links...anyway the assitant manager treated me like complete crap until i sat there and argued i wanted my money back noone is gonna rip me off and then act as if i am beneath them. I felt very disrespected and will make it my duty to give the company a bad reputation! thanks to facebook twitter and my local news stations for providing me with an outlet for such a ridiculous excuse for a company. I suggest to corporate to invest all the ripped off dollars theyve made threw the years and properly train their staff!!!!!!!!

I do not usually waste my time writing complaints on the internet, because I am not trying to jeopardize anyone’s business or jobs. However, I was so insulted this evening that I must share. I visited the Things remembered in Colonial Heights, VA and ordered a money clip, which was to be monogrammed. When I picked up my purchase, I was dissatisfied. I had never seen monogrammed letters with 1/2 to 3/4 inches of space between the letters, not even on the example they showed me. I did not ask for a refund, but I did bring it to the salespersons attention that it was not what I expected or what was shown to me as an example. He would not even look at the item; he just kept saying I cannot do anything about it and ultimately told me that I signed the paper indicating there were no refunds or returns and that I should leave the store; said this several times. Never in all my 42 years have I been told to leave a store. This man, who would not give me his name, but was a bald AA male, could not handle any type of expression of dissatisfaction or feedback from a customer. He was so unprofessional to me and in front of my children, that I just could not take it anymore. I will speak to the manager and corporate office tomorrow and I hope they will address his customer service skills. Thank you, Tina from VA

I buy a lot of personalized items from the Wellington,FL, store. Most of the items I've purchased have needed to be re-done due to their errors. Instead of good customer service, Stephanie, the warden, uh manager, gets so incensed ~ it's like it comes out of her own pocket and she's always quite obviously annoyed, whispering something undoubtedly not nice to the engraverashen giving her my items to be re-done. Problem is, I'm not the one who scratched the item or didnt center it. Gina, the girl who rings up the customers, chomps on gum so hard, it's no wonder she doesn't have nice any words for anyone, let alone ANY words or a smile! She obviously finds it challenging to be courteous. Isnt the manager supposed to be on top of that? Training or a staff dump would only be a help to this store! Victoria, on the other hand, the young girl with glasses, is the sweetest, most helpful, understanding employee there. If not for her patience and excellent customer treatment, I really would have left my items on the counter and never returned. When they do get it right, attitudes and non-management aside, their items are unique and beautiful. I've tried not to go back there because of their inadequate staff, but I always do. Another customer was there today and her locket was scratched and wasnt centered... The salesgirl said when "we're so busy they rush and make mistakes". The customer responded that she would wait longer for it to be right the first time! AMEN!!
