I wanted to take this opportunity to relate to you the outstanding service my son (who is deaf) received from your East Wareham store (customer service rep is MARIE). On Friday evening Sept 2nd, my son purchase groceries at your store. In the process of pay for the merchandise, he requested and additional $30 on his debit card. Upon leaving the store, he forgot to take the $30 he requested. The following morning we received a call from MARIE informing us that our son Mark forgot to take his money. Marie offered to mail the money to us if we were unable to contact our son. Having not received the money by today. I called the store and was informed by Marie (with an apology)), that the money was mailed out on Thursday. Just thanking Marie and your staff at East Wareham was not enough. I hope someone in your organization takes the time to commend the store staff for the excellent customer service they (she) performed. TRUELY A CLASS OPERATION. THANK YOU: ARTHUR MACDOANLD (MARK'S FATHER)

As you know, there is a new store coming in getting ready to open up by, I assume, sometimes in November, 2011 and I do hope that this store does indeed open by Thanksgiving at the latest. I did infact work for Stop n Shop, Bedford, NH before being fired for eronious reasons. It is hoped by me and a few more people that I know of, we all hope that the three stores in the Manchester, NH area do loose business, law off several employees or even close one or two of these stores.. Yes, you may keep a few customers as loyal customers, BUT I HOPE YOU LOOSE MOST OF YOUR CUSTOMER BASE. most people I have talked to do not want to pay more for their groceries, but less and save more and your prices are higher than Market Basket.

I canNOT believe that your company would have people working during a hurricane! Are you all that greedy that you don't value life????? DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Stop & Shop employee and I constantly get harassed by the CDH. I told the manager about it but it seems like he does not care. Not only that, but your management team lack social skills. Not only do they not hear the other employee’s point of view, they also degrade, name call and threaten others. Who else can I talk to besides the manager?

Hello, I am writing this complaint about a terrible experience i had with a store manager at the Glastonbury, Stop and Shop store number 605. Her name is Lynn Nelson and I must say I don't think I have met a ruder person EVER in my 59 years of living. Not only did she raise her voice at me, a regular customer, but on some of my visits I have witnessed her yelling at employees, in front of customers, in the most unprofessional way!she curses and belittles her employees and once she took that tone with me i said enough is enough. I now shop at the other Glastonbury Stop and Shop and I do not know why your company would have such a witch as a manager. I feel sorry for the people that work there, if it were me dealing with her rudeness all the time I would quit. She needs to be addressed and taught how to act professionally, and not like a uneducated monster. I hope corporate takes action and puts a stop to this.

As an employee and customer along with a large extended family who shop at stop and shop I must say store 54 in Abington has not been the same since Doris Nelson was transfered. Doris was a wonderful and pleasant manager to work for. She treated and spoke to me as an adult. There is a lot of tension right now at the store since Lindsey Hill took over for Doris. I talk with a lot of the old timers and we all have one thing to say not only are we twice her age, but she speaks to us in a manner that is disrespectfull. She at times is intimidating and threatens to look up my time card if I ask for a certain day off. I have already explained to her once my father is very sick with cancer and depends on me to get him around to appointments and take care of the yard-mowing and such. I feel guilty asking for the time off due to her attitude but family comes first to me. I would like to keep this anonymous until maybe you could have someone come out and ask around. Although they may feel intimidated, just ask if things would be back to normal if Doris Nelson was still at the store. Please keep my name anonymous. I think Mr. Sumner is a great manager he treats everyone fairly I look up to him and enjoy working for Mr. Sumner and our customers. Respectfully, Gail Sennett.

Stop n Shop has to be one of the worst companies to work for when it comes to employee loyalty. Once a person has x amount of years in and is making a decent salary, they will beging to make that persons life a living hell in a round about way, weather it be by transfering them to another store which is inconvenient for them or by just dumping too much work on them. Then, on top of this, you have these so called managers who only care about their own jobs and are the biggest back-stabbers going and love to transfer out higher salary workers for the sake of saving their stores money and making themselves look good to cooperate office. On top of this, they cut hours to the point where you have 2 people doing the work of 4. All.s i can say is "SHAME ON YOU" Stop n Shop, you put on a good front but behind the scenes you are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to employee treatment.

I have shopped at the Villa Ave. or Street Stop & Shop in Fairfield, CT, over ten years. I have had a Stop and Shop card for many years. I have always had good customer service at this store but tonight I went in because I needed to have extra cash. Usually I buy something and ask for cash back but over the past month cashiers have said I did not have to buy something. So I wrote a check for $8.00 without a purchase. I was told by Louis Palmerie (unsure of spelling) at the customer service desk that he could not cash my check and they do not accept checks from my credit union (Greenwich Municipal Employee Credit Union, my bank)in Greenwich, CT which are the only checks I own and have cashed there every other day over ten years. I told him I always cashed checks there and he said he could not accept it that they do not accept those checks now. Then, after confirring with a cashier supervisor, she also told him I couldn't use that check to receive cash back. Then they decided to cash it, after I bought a bottle of water, which I would have purchased something in the first place, which I normally do. He then gave me a five dollar bill. I asked for five ones and he said he (Louis) could not give me change or five ones. I asked to speak to a Manager. The manager, Mr. Mike Smith, said that that was a problem because of the concern of the store being flim-flamed by customers. Excuse me, but what kind of customer service is this??? This was at 9:45pm, no other customers and they could not accommodate me with giving me five one dollar bills. I recently transferred out of the Greenwich Police Dept. in Greenwich CT to another position. I also have a Stop & Shop card. I would hope Whoever is in charge of training for Stop and Shop and customer service might want to retrain staff to treat customers a little more professionally and curteously, and treating a long time customer/consumer in a non-suspicious criminal manner. If Stop and Shop is so concerned about being flim flammed, they should have a record they can check of anyone they are concerned about. I am sure they would have a record of any problem or check I have cashed over the past ten years in that store. They finally, hesitantly gave me five one dollar bills after this. Is this the best customer service treatment that this Stop and Shop has to offer?

The other day I bought cherries on sale, a mango and 2 artichokes. They were all horrible. I called and they said no problem come and get a refund. Today I went there and was treated horribly by both customer service AND the produce manager. This is Stop and Shop in Plainville Mass. Customer service not only grilled me she made me wait for the produce manager to come and grill me himself. He was an arrogant bastard and I told him so. When I told him I spoke to someone yesterday he didn't believe me. When he finally realized who it was he said "oh, her, that figures". I'm sure he thought I just wanted to come in and get money. I am tired of spending money on crappy food! They put a sticker over a hole in the mango and he didn't believe that either. He said it comes that way to them. Whatever, I was treated VERY poorly. I think they should pull up the video and see it for themselves. It was around 1 pm today Friday June 10th. Watch it for yourself. Check out their snide attitudes both of them. I'm no longer shopping there, at least with Whole Foods you get good quality and nice people.

I was in the North Adams store today and attempted to purchase a quick pick Power ball ticket. I asked the Lady at the counter, if I could have two separate quick pick numbers, one for the Wednesday drawing and one for the Saturday drawing. She handed me a ticket with one number playing for both Wednesday and Saturday. I told her, I did not want the same number for both drawings, was it possible that I could have two numbers, one for Wednesday and one for Saturday. She said yes and handed me a ticket with two numbers, two for Wednesday and two for Saturday, for a total of 4 dollars. Again I try to explain that I did not want doubles. Was it possible for me to purchase a two dollar ticket with one number for Wednesday and a different number for Saturday; I explained to her that another Lady in the store was able to sell me a ticket like that. The Lady became angry stating that, that was not what I asked for. Her belligerents and chastising me in front of other customers was upsetting and I reacted just as poorly as she did. The problem is not that I was unable to buy my ticket, or that she couldn't do it, or that it can't be done. The problem is: I did not like being told I said something, I didn't say. I did not like being chastised in front of other people and unfortunately, I acted just as bad as she did. She left without saying a word and returned with a manager, who tried to defuse the situation and assist me. Unfortunately he could not control her continued irritation which further upset me. I acted as poorly as she did and found myself being handled by the manager. Finally I thanked the manager for his assistants and left the store, telling the young lady this was not over. I am writing to you, because this is not the first time, I and other senior citizens have had trouble in your store. Once before I returned crackers that clearly stated unsalted tops; they were salted. The Lady at the desk turned one of the crackers over and tried to convince me that I was holding the cracker upside-down! A Lady I was with once asked one of the employees who was walking down the aisle, where she could find a certain product. His answer was she should read the banners on the front of each aisle. It is only some of the young people who are short with the elderly and when confronted, attempt to turn things around. Employees should make complaints to managers about customers in front of customers, not behind their backs, so we are not confronted like trouble makers or fools. I feel this is becoming a problem with your North Adams store and if it continuous several of us at the senior center, who share similar problems with this store, will take it to elderly services for review. I hope before things go that far, the main office can nip this in the bud. Thank you 05/30/2011

My complaint is not so much against Stop & Shop but against the home delivery service they use, Peapod. It was my understanding that Peapod will pick out whatever you choose and deliver it to your home. That's wonderful when there's a sale on items such as soda, canned goods, heavy items. Unfortunately, the sales in the Stop & Shop circular often don't correspond to the sales that are being held by Peapod. The Stop and Shop circular runs from Friday to Thursday. Peapod sales run from Thursday to Thursday (or so they say). When my daughter tried to place an order on "Tuesday" none of the sale items listed in the Stop and Shop circular dated 5/27 - 6/2 were on sale with Peapod and consequently we couldn't order from them. Also, we went to the store and the Stop and Shop spaghetti sauce was on sale for 4/$5.00. We wanted to order a few but since that was more than we wanted to carry, my daughter said she'd order it on Peapod. Guess what...Peapod wasn't selling it, so we couldn't order it. Why do you (Stop and Shop) deal with a service that doesn't have your best interest at heart. They seem to only want to sell your higher priced items and offer a really small discount. Someone from your corporate office needs look into what you've affiliated yourself with. We're getting out of Peapod and we're not alone in that sentiment.

I'm writing about the behavior of some Stop & Shop employees on 206 East Washington Street in North Attleboro, Ma. It's store # 0490. They took great delight in ridiculing me. Your employees seem to feel targeting an individual not resembling themselves is an amusing and acceptable sport. One of the employees appeared to be a manager. Their treatment of me was extremely immature and rude. I can't be the only person tired of the bullying culture found in America today. Maybe Stop & Shop doesn't care about their customers as people, but I'm sure they do care about their customers' money. My money will be going to another grocery store. I won't be returning to the North Attleboro store until the employees learn to treat other people with common courtesy and respect.

The cutomers are mostly moronic kurvas and don't read signs. Everyone is looking for something for free and the employees are treated like mut. Store policies are in place for a reason...tough mut! If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

I have read some of these postings. So I have to say that Stop and Shop is not a good store to work in. Does not work around the hours for family at all. District Manager is terrible. Politics in a office setting gets you everywhere (doesn't it). Everywhere has their pets and best of buddies. But, down goes the company. Corporate watch your company with people that are put in that position. They do not care about good workers. What a shame

I don't know what your talking about but S&S does have sweaters... you have to buy them for like 10 dollars but they do have them. I work in Old Saybrook Stop&shop for 5 years as a cashier. You are over exaggerating... this is a grocery store people!! Go to college or something and get a REAL job... you can't just expect to get paid as much as someone who actually got a college level job working at a GROCERY store.. I am getting my A+ certification in computers... I don't plan on working as a cashier for the rest of my life unlike your people apparently who expect to get all these raises and benefits like you have actually accomplished something. Shut your damn mouths and stop taking up space on the internet and especially stop drinking that UNION Kool Aid... its making me sick....

Ok a few things to anyone willing to listen: Employees: I do honestly feel bad about the low wages, but don't look at management when it comes to that. Look to your union. When you signed on for the job you knew you were getting into a union job that had mandated union raises. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as performance based raises, just simply the union raises. The union works both ways as yes it does protect you, but it also prevents you from reaching respectable wages at a good pace if you are part time. Don't blame us (management) that we get paid well...I personally was in the union and worked my way up and took the risk of leaving the union with the realization that I can progress further and make much better wages.

I have been a customer at the Mansfield, Ma. Stop and Shop since they opened. It is my favorite market and I shop there 52 weeks a year. wanted to comment on your latest flier where you advertised a quart of Strawberries as a BOGO. The price was $3.99 for two. Last week the same strawberries were #1.99.for 1 What was the bargain? I dont need to buy 2 quarts at one time plus the price was the same. You cant do that , not everybody can use 2 of a product and the price was the same as last week. Pleas explain. That especially applies to perishables. Thank you explorer321@comcast.net 508 337 6659

Hi folks I'm just a humble landscape painter (samuelthompsonartist.com)but, its the little things in life that can make a difference. One of the 'little things', is that Stop & shop 'cherry vanilla ice cream' in the pint sizes. As good or better than Hagan-Daz, and a great price too. I shop regularly at the allston-brighton store. Congrats !! Sam Thompson

I have worked for this company for ten years and it has been the worst experience of a business I can imagine. They have no respect for their employees and care even less about their customers. I would strongly suggest not shopping there for they only care about their profit line.

I am a loyal customer of Stop and Shop 473 in Fall River,Ma. I was just running in one day to grab a bouquet of flowers before a dinner party I was attending. I had no clue on what would be appropriate when an employee came from behind the counter to help. Her name was Erica. She went far beyond what she had to do to help me find something beautiful and perfect for my event. She was kind, and very helpful. My bouquet was beautiful and everyone was so impressed. I told them all about where and who I got them from. Employees like her make peoples shopping experience pleasant and memorable. Thank you soo much!
