I was just reading the comments and just found out that shaws takes stop and shop coupons. I will be shopping there from now on. stop and shop was worth going to when they took other stores coupons, but without them they are way to expensive!!!

On the morning of 7/19/10 I purchased several items to make a cold pasta salad for a Birthday party I was having at my house that day for my husband. Due to all the preparation and set up I started making the salad after my company arrived. When I mixed the ingredients the last item to add was the Boccacini. When I emptied the container into the salad there was a wad of blue gum at the bottom of the salad. When I went to the store that morning I was the first person to take the Boccacini as I had to ask the girls behind the counter for a spoon so I could put it into the container. They had not even finished setting up the area. Apparently someone had spit their gum into the Boccacini the night before or first thing that morning. No one had checked the food for any abnormalities. This was totally disgusting and I had to throw out two pounds of pasta, a can of olives, a bag of broccoli, 1 pound of ham and a bottle of salad dressing. My guests (25 grownups in total) were totally grossed out as well. Both myself and my guests will NEVER purchase this from any of your stop and shops again. When I called the store the Sore Manager John took it very lightly. I went to the store and demanded my money back. He refunded me for all of the ingredients but it did not seem to bother him any that this happened. Word of Mouth can do a lot of damage specially when 25 people play telephone. In addition, today I purchased strawberries from your produce section. When I got home and emptied the container the center and bottom of the container was mush and molded. I will be sending a picture of the produce that should have never been on the shelf for a customer to purchase. This store is losing a lot of credibility with me. Being convenient and around the corner from my house is not worth the aggravation and embarrassment with my guests that I have experienced this past month in shopping at Stop and Shop. A&P is a little bit more out of the way but I have NEVER had these issues with their establishment.

The staff in the Westerly Stop and Shop saved my life when I was shopping there on March 22, 2010. I felt dizzy and fainted and immediately, Laurie Eno, the young woman at the Floral Shoppe came to my aid. She looked at me and since her Mom was a nurse, she determined I was quite ill. Miss Eno called the manager, Cathy, and told her to get an ambulance immediately. Then, after hearing my protests that I didn't want an ambulance, Miss Eno stayed with me and comforted me. She was an Angel, the most caring person I ever met. It turns out I had a MASSIVE heart attack and also broke my leg in the fainting incident. If Laurie had not called her manager immediately who then called the ambulance, I would have died. Instead, I was rushed to a hospital, had major surgery and survived. I will always be grateful to your concerned and caring staff at the Westerly store. Thank you for commending these employees, Sincerely, Carolee Ross Ashaway, Rhode Island

I have so much to say and in so many directions I want to say it to. I have been a hard working florist clerk employee of Stop and Shop (store 068) for over 7 years. Though I am not perfect, my customers have become "regulars" and they enjoy the work I have done for them. They have gone in several times and told several managers that I have gone "above and beyond", to serve them and that I have done a great job, unfortunatley I have never heard any feed back from the managers at which they've told. Through many years many managers I've done the changes and adjustments like every other employee though I have outlasted many of them I came across two managers that have no business holding their name as manager.

The store managers have always been kind and helpful, recently this past year the "manager" that follows under has done nothing but harrass all the employees of this store. By no means is it right to make anyone uncomfortable in their work enviroment ever. It is not okay to yell at them or degrade them infront of customers either. I loved going to work and seeing all of the customers that repeatedly came back and enjoyed seeing the beautiful arrangements, corsages, and displays I had done for them and my depatment, but this year I dreaded it because of this manager. Unfortunatley I am no longer with stop and shop(store068) because of the constant embarrassment from this manager infront of customers. I will not be belittled, I will not be quiet.Im a single mom who had senoirity but would always carry barely 15hours a wk. This manager was the one to cut it every week! Many who have seen the way this man talked to the employees were appauled. Many employees tried to talk me into staying, for what to be yelled at and have him "watching" and his little follower part-time wanna-be's watching my every move, telling me to sign out at my break. I am no child. Other employees have their reasons for staying, I would too, but the little hours/pay for the amount of frusteration-NO! So many workers came to me telling me the same stories of the way he has harrassed or embarrassed them, very unproffessional. When I had my last of many annoying meetings triing to find a "happy/medium" I confronted him on these issues, he replies "gets the job done so I guess its working" and I say well why do you have the right to say I do this/that or we'll take you out of Florist and put you elsewhere, threats so very many you have given to too many workers. I never had personal phone calls never had friends at work, always worked hard and did the extra mile. My last manager told me the talent I have is incredable, wont be able to replace, that Mr.Scott Gilberson(sp)says I see outside the box, unlike other stop and shops. My kids have missed me at school events, holidays, graduation celebrations, and they are under 9years old, for what. I at one time loved my job and I was appreciated there. There is too many things to say, I will say that I will miss my florist girls and the florist will miss my work. Many have taught me alot at this store and those who knew me know Im the one who always worked and smiled and did what was asked, I am thankful to have known those who were true and real at work. Workers should be able to go to work and smile and mean it, it does benefit the customers...managment should be looked at at least the under dog managers and how they really treat the workers.....

I have to say I am VERY DISSAPOINTED in Stop and Shop. I have shopped in the darien store that was recently taken over since it was Grand Union. I know all the people in there and always enjoy talking to them. Recently I was in there and I overheard one of your STOP and SHOP employees conversation with another saying how they need to get all the Shaws people out of hear. Well I very disappointed in hearing this, and no I did not go to your store manager because he is one of your employees. I will say one thing I will not shop there anymore if no one from shaws is there. As it is the atmosphere is different. You can guarantee I will tell others too! I hope you can rectify this situation and make it a place your customers want to come. Everyone that was from Shaws have ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL.

Just a note to commend one of the managers of the Stop and Shop in Grafton, Ma. I had placed an order for a birthday cake to be ready at 10:00 a.m. on May 2, 2010 at the Grafton Stop and Shop. When I arrived a bit after 10, the baker harshly told me that he had six orders to be picked up at 10, and my order wasn't ready. He was not at all polite and offered no apology. I went to the manager, Curtis, and he was not only incredibly helpful, but personally went to the bakery and supervised that the cake be made exactly to match the order that I had put in. He walked to the bakery dept. with me and put the cake in my cart. I had not yet gone through the check-out, and Curtis told me my groceries would be gratis. I always shop at Stop and Shop and have full confidence in the products and service. This incident made me realize how important caring and kindness in in any situation. Curtis exemplifies a leader with compassion and the realization that the customer is important. Thank you , Curtis, for being such a wonderful example of someone who knows what it takes to retain customers!
