I submitted an application and received a call 5 days later for an interview Once I got there I saw a few more people waiting to be interview It was a group interview, something I have never experienced before The manager said the reason why they do this type of interview is because they hire based on personality and availability, "so basically during the interview your personality will shine or it will die". I personally did not like this because there were too many of us , 15 candidates! And the manager didnt even let us know how many positions were available He said he was not gonna tell us He also mentioned that the hiring process could take up to 1 month and that he believe in trial of firing process Why would he even mentioned that? The gropu interview took almost 2 hours and to me honestly that is a waste of time I mean, if this is how they conduct the interviews ok, but at least dont call too many candidates at the same time especially if there's just one position available, why would you call 15 candidates!!!?

I wonder why you people don't shop somewhere else? Oh yeah because you can't afford to. Don't expect Macys treatment at a discount store. Personally I'd shop online

I started working for Ross eight years ago when our store opened in Logan, Utah. I worked as a cash office manager, front end supervisor and cashier. I have worked retail/customer service for forty years and have been a valued employee receiving many awards and I know I was a reason why customers shopped our store. In May of this year I was terminated. There was a new manager hired four months before and I knew from her first day I was going to be fired. She is the poorest, coldest excuse for a manager that I have ever had to work for. I have sent letters to Ross Corporate with documented reports about not only how I was treated but at least 1/2 of the other employees are treated also but no response. I feel that the managers district manager was included in the betrayal. No one should be able to reduce ones pride and dedication like she did and I am very saddened that Corporate has not responded. It makes a person wonder what does matter to a company. I know it's not the importance of a true, loyal employee.

Im really disappointed at the lack or customer service I recieved calling corprate today. I went to ross on thursday September the 8th at 7025 West 88th Avenue, westminster colorado. And bought some new pants, shirts, and shoes. On September 9th I wore all my new cloths going to a friends house while crossing the street I was hit by a car. In the hospital they had to cut off all my cloths and my shoes were scraped and ruined. I called corprate customer service and asked them if thier is anyway I could possibly take back the cloths. I know it was a long shot but I thought maybe ross would understand my situation and help me out with a simple outfit. When I told her the story she immediately shut me down and said they can do nothing then hung up. I really expected more from this company. Even though It was not ross's fault of course. I thought I would have gotten even a simple gift card in exchange for my brand new cut up cloths.

I'm very disappointed in your Sonora store. They continually make everyone stand in one line waiting for the next available cashier when they have been told to not do that by corporate. Also they have started a new program for the try on room. It would work out fine but they don't have any signs letting anyone know what to do. If you forget your hanger in the room then they demand that you go get it. I'm not sure what their job is if we do everything for them. So very rude to the customers and they treat everyone as if they are trying to steal from them. I'm so turned off by their unfriendliness, that I don't want to go back. It used to be a great store, I'm not sure what has happened in the last year!

I love ur stores..especially greenbriar shopping - fairfax va. Stores inventory A+... don't like seeing Security guards returning merchandise...makes me feel uneasy about front of store

Why is it that no matter what Ross store I go into, the lines to check out are horrendous and the managers just stand there and watch the lines get longer. As a former retail manager in a Lowe's store, we were expected to jump on a register whenever there were more than 3 people in line. Obviously, customer service is not a priority for your company. I can tell you that I have been in Ross stores all the way across the country and the service is the same in all of your stores. Lines, lines, lines. When your are expecting someone to work for $7.50 an hour, I guess you get what you pay for.

as a ex-employee, just to justify and for customers to understand them. We are human beings we have dignity and feelings like everyone else. Its not workers fault the way they behave a times, we are hard workers( U need to a this place) fun and respectful toward each other, and customers. Maybe some of this employees were mistreated and yell at, which managers love to do.they belittle u at times in front of other employees or even w/customers around. The majority of managers are rude, mean, and very disrespectful to their employees. I work many years for Ross and believe me I seen many managers come and go at this store, and only one that i can remember knew how to treat an employee w/respect. Managers should be the ones to get training on how to approach employees if need to discuss work related issues, [so what's all this about TRUE BLUE]MANAGERS.They get no appreciation after a very hard day of work. So how are they to have a smile on their faces. So customers have patience w/them.And for the long lines, payroll is always an issue,no money no hours for more cashiers on registers

I have not had any former complaints with the Ross Store in Mesquite TX, but today my complaint is on a CASH/CREDIT PURCHASE and the RETURN of an item less than the CASH amount ($20)I had given. I had purchased multiple items and was returning a single $18 item. I had the receipt from last week, but they still WOULD NOT GIVE ME my CASH but said the COMPUTER AUTOMATICALLY CREDITS the return back on my CREDIT CARD. That is not acceptable. This has never happened before in any of the stores I shop at, including this one. Had I CHARGED the whole total, I would expect this but that is not the case here. I'm considering if the savings is worth this unfair practice and what can be done???

I work at Ross Department store in Pensacola Florida on the Corner of mobile hwy and Fairfield, and me and my coworkers checked our schedule and we are only scheduled to work 4 hours a week, so our 2 week check will total 8 hours, now i got hired for part time but that is just unheard of. I think the boss is trying to make us quit by giving us such low hours, and i believe by Law if your hired for part time they have to give you atleaste 20 hours a week. This store is not treating there employees right at all and need more training on how to be managers. They also DO favor there employees, all the "black" girls are getting there "star cards" while the other races can do the SAME thing and not get a darn thing, my assistance manager just so happens to be racist and favors the blacks over the whites. Now even though our managemant sucks the fellow employees are awesome, there all nice and there is NO drama! If the managers would treat there employees as good as they said they would during training then this would be a good job.

This is my first job and it feels like a legalized sweat shop managers always write you up and give you attitude you work in a hot stock room lifting heavy boxes for the smallest amount of pay they can give you. DONT WORK HERE IF YOUR SMART THERES A REASON THEIR ALWAYS HIRING!!!

I was hired at Ross, but because of somethings on my background report i could no longer be offered a position.. I have never been to jail, i have never stole anything, i never killed anyone, i have no dui, other than those things i should have still been offered the position which was just a part-time position. I was very upset by this,i don't shop at ross, but for sure i will never shop there. No one is perfect, i am a good person who would have made a very good employee. I say to bad for them.

As an employee of Ross, I too agree that it is the worst place in the entire world to work. The management treats the associates like a piece of crap, you don't get proper breaks, you don't get many hours unless you are in the "clique", and on top of everything else, some of the customers are extremely rude too!! Rude mgmt and rude customers--how much does someone hve to put up with. Ross is acutally getting away with slave-labor. Everyone that works there has at least four or more jobs to do. You barely finish one task then they have you doing another. Forget about getting a break if you happen to work in the fitting room. All the other associates will ignore you (unless they are new) and you feel like you are begging for 15 minutes to sit down or just relax!! As soon as I get another job, Ross can pound dirt--I am sick of this labor/boot camp. If I could rate this corporate it would receive a -5 STARS (and that means minus)!!

I was at your store today (6/9/2011) in Lakewood, Colorado, at the Alameda and Wadsworth store, with my two granddaughters ( ages 4 and 7). The little one was in the basket properly seated in the seat and the older one decided to step up on the bottom bar of the cart where the handle is. When she did that, the whole basket tipped over towards the handle and fell to the floor. The older girl tried to jump off and catch the basket before it hit the floor, and subsequently caught it with her leg instead. The little one hit her pelvic area on the bar between her legs and they both got quite the red mark and bruise. I did not complain to anyone in the store ( though there were several other shoppers around me who witnessed the accident and offered to help) I just wanted to ask that you consider readjusting the baskets or maybe making an adapatation to them because the small front end is very light and the back part (where the handle is) is much heavier and easily tipped.

Today I stopped into Ross went to the jewelry counter which is located just inside the door. I saw a necklace I liked, so I asked the clerk behind the counter to get it out for me. She answered, "I don't work in jewelry. You'll have to ask her." The woman she pointed to was about 3 feet from me, so I greeted her with a smile, at which time she left her post and proceeded to walk to the back of the store. "OK," I thought. "I didn't need that necklace anyway." I then busied myself looking through the clothing. After about a half hour, I had found a couple of dresses, a couple of tops, and some really nice sunglasses cases. I grabbed four of those. As I approached the only check-out stand that was open, the young lady at the register said to me, "Sorry. I am closed now." I looked around helplessly, then asked her, Is there somewhere I can pay for my things?" She shrugged her shoulders and dismissed me there and then. Suddenly another young lady approached another register. Quickly I presented her with my things, thinking the purchase was coming next. But when I asked her if she was going to open the register, she replied, "I am not a check out person." "Who is?" I asked. "I don't know" she answered. Next I saw a lady standing by the front door. I went to her and asked, "Is there a register open." "Number 3" she said brusquely. "No" I said. She just told me she is closing. "Oh." "Is there another register that will be opening?" "I don't know." I placed my things upon the nearest counter, and plaintively said, "There is no one to help me," at which time I walked out the door empty handed. What a bunch of untrained, unprofessional morons!!!! I wil not be back.

HORRIBLE and RACIST STORE on Broadway in TUCSON. MARICELA is an awful human being and should NOT be a manager. The location is welcoming to Latino's and hateful to caucasions. I have seen it REPEATEDLY and had friends and neighbors tell me similar stories of horribl customer service and prejudice. I will shop at TJ MAXX and MARSHALS instead. Forget spending my hard earned money at ROSS. ROSS is aparently in the practice of poor business, bad customer service, and racism. I read this page of complaints.....SOMEONE @ the corporate office needs to log off of their facebook and get to work .....your company is in the toilet with it's reputation .....The ONLY time I will be @ ROSS is to PICKET TO HAVE THE STORE CLOSED!!! Jerks ! You obviously don't care corporate ROSS...according to testimonies on this page...you are rude, don't return calls, you don't hire good employees, and when by accident you do hire a good employee, you then mistreat that person and they quit. I hate your kind of company ROSS...you drive out small businesses and then treat people like the dirt on your shoe. I too have told EVERYONE i know, family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors of my horrible experiences @ ROSS and have urged them to spend their dollars else where. YOU CAN NOT TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS AND GET BY WITH IT!!! KARMA AND THE LAW WILL TAKE YOU DOWN !!! So whoever in that coporate office is purchasing new T.V.'s for your home, and planning the vacation in the carribean....How bout you pop your head back out of the clouds and be accountable to DO YOUR JOB !!!! DAMN CORPORATE SCUMS!

This is the worst job that I have ever had. The only reason that I continue to work at Ross is to pay my bills until I find another job. I have almost ten years in customer service and there is no such thing as customer service at Ross. There is never enough cashiers on the schedule to properly take care of the customers. There are gaps of up to three hours before there is more than one person on a register. Unfortunately, the store I work for continuously pulls stockroom employees to train them to run a cash register. I want to know how fair is that to the stockroom lead to lose associates that could be processing merchandise. The store manager favors the most non-productive area supervisor over the two that burst their humps daily trying to get things right. She also talks down about the new assistant manager to this area supervisor. I personally like the new assistant manager because she is respectful, fair to all employees, and extremely hardworking. An employee spoke with the district HR manager about the store manager and the district HR manager went back to the store manager and told her everything. This caused the store manager to yell at the employee. I always thought that complaints against store manager were private conversations and that there should be no consequences for the employees who complained. I guess Ross is on a different wavelength than the rest of the business world. The people who run the corporate office have no idea of how to truly run a company. I'll make a few suggestions. 1. Get an actual timeclock. It makes no sense to clock in/out at a cash register, especially when there are customers in the store. 2. Stop changing processes. If it's not broken, don't fix it. 3. Use shoe boxes, they keep the shoes neater. 4. Get hangers that cannot be removed from the racks. This will cut down on the large amount of hangers in the store and on the floor. 4. Hire more people to work the sales floor to help customers. 5. Have a back office person to field all phone calls. It is so unfair to customers checking out to have a cashier interrupted, to field phone calls. 6. If 15 minute breaks are mandatory for certain associates then they should be allowed to take them uninterrupted. 7. There should only be one FES (full-time) and the FES should never run a cash register unless absolutely necessary. He/she should be free to access change, the jewelry and fragrance cases, assist customers and restock bags, register tape and wrapping paper. 8. Take a hint from The Home Depot as far as how their associates are trained before they are let loose on the customers.

I just came from the North Miami store located on biscayne blvd and 125th street..As the cashier was ringing up my items, there was a jacket that had a ticket which marked "2 piece set" and he told me he could not sell it without the bottom so i said ok and went to look for the other 1/2 (which i did not know if it was pants or a skirt. I found more jackets just like it but they had no bottom as well so I asked the manager if there was anyway that i could pay the price marked on the jacket and just forget about the bottom he said no..Soo i asked if someone could help me find the bottom and he replied "I have no one to help you." With that response, he clearly did not care if I made any purchases or not..Soo then i left and did not buy anything..Thanks to the manager Curtis for saving me an extra $200 in my pocket!!!

I am an avid shopper of Ross. I live in Alexandria, Virginia and I would like to lodge a complaint against one of your stores located on King Street in the Bailey's Crossroads Shopping Center. I was in the store today, Saturday May 14th and I was appalled by what I saw. Firstly, the manager was outside smoking against the wall. When I went inside I couldn't believe what I saw...the store was a pig's pen. There were only two cash registers open for checkout and there was a line of at least 15 people deep in one line and about 20 in the other. The manager finally came inside but instead of opening another register all she did was sort hangers. This isn't the first time that I have walked in this store to find the lines so long that people get disgusted and just leave their items where ever. Once again the same manager did nothing. She proceed to again sort hangers which was totally ridiculous. I live right down the street from this store and as convenient as it is for me I refuse to go back. I've been in retail before and I can honestly say that this individual will run your store into the ground. The people that work there need a good manager and the store needs to be cleaned up ASAP.

I'm a resent employee of Ross and I must say we don't get payed enough for taking in disrepectfull customers/or managers for that manner. I feel for most of the employees still working for Ross. The store alone doesn't listen to their employees what make's you think they'll listen to the customers. They work the employees there down to the bone and still expect 100% the next day. Some of the store's are good to work for but not enough staff on schedule (skeleton crew most days). And the store follows California Law's in some states. They really don't hire full timer, mostly part-timers, and if they don't make sales they cut hours fast. Your purchases are not paying their wages, your paying Ross for merchandise at a lower price of savings they pass on to their customers. Have you not noticed most of them are getting payed minimum wages and not making 40 hours a week, but less then 32 hours. Here is a run down of fitting room policie's your allowed 8 items on hangers to go in(which they should have a sign out now)two piece items are counted as two pieces. Your allowed to exchange items if you have more to try on, but you need to bring out your number and items on a hanger you took in first(employee did'nt make the policies, Ross did). You are now allowed to try on underwear over your own (gross/you don't know what kind of koodies they have or if there wearing underwear)I've had some come out with blood drops on them(euhew)MOS. No Ross accessories or handbags allowed, you shouldn't be taking in drinks either. They also get rip off too by others in your neighborhood. For the amount of work and BS the sales associates have to put up with, come on people, they pay taxes also and being kind doesn't cost anyone a whole lot.
