11/16/10 My name is Victoria. I'm from Elsa,tx and I was driving today down hwy 107. I was with my daughters and a rent a center van drives by me when I looked at the van there was a boy by the name of Marky not even an employee of the company throwing the bad finger at me and my daughters. (8 & 9 years old) I could read his lips. He was saying f**k you b***h over and over and the driver was dancing as he was driving. I felt so humiliated and embarrassed. I don't show my children this behavior and as a parent my daughters shouldn't of seen that. I cannot understand that rent a center being such a big company would allows this to happen. I tried calling the store to report it to the manager and all I got was the run around. I will never go to rent a center and try my best to ensure that my friends and family don't too. Very humiliating and unprofessional.

RAC is the worst company I have ever dealt with,they are liars and theives, I regret entering into a contract with them. I rented a living room set, first set was broken,they tried giving my another broken set than tried giving me the ugliest most hideous set to put in my house, they scratched my walls, even tho I asked them to come thru back door, salesman at store were not helpful at first till I filed a complaint than they finally ordered me a new set, which by the way is not much better, and from all the complaints i've heard it sounds like a manufacturer problem you would think they would just stop carrying that particular style, that may be my next complaint to Ashley furniture, seeing as everytime we sit on sofa for any period of time we get stiff necks. One of the biggest complaints is the day my payment is due (by the way, if payment is due on Monday I feel I have till midnight to make payment, since was not given specific time payment must be in) Their store employees Brighton, CO store, call every number I put down as a reference, although they never contacted one of these people as a reference they make it a habit to call every one of them, looking for me to make my payment, I have asked them time and time again NOT to call these people as is very embarrasing especially when my payment isnt even late yet! It's ridiculas! there is no reason to contact these people with my business, they have embarrased me so many times. I will NEVER enter into one of their stores again, nor will any family member, nor friends, nor co-worker, everyone now knows what bad business ethics RAC runs. I'm tired of these people and how they run a business and can't wait till I finish paying off my million dollar living room set, so I can be over this nightmare of doing business with them. I don't even like looking at the living room set as everytime I do it reminds me how I got screwed by rac. They Suck, beware!

I rented a sofa from rent a center in May 2010 but then I was having difficulty making the payments. I recieved harrasing phone calls from them until finally I told them to come pick it up. It took them 3 days to pick it up even after they harrassed me for 2 days. Then a few weeks later they called to me to say I was able to get something else since I had money on my account for the sofa. I really didn't want to deal with them any longer so they promised me a Brand new King mattress set still in the plastic. Well when they delivered it the box spring was not in any platic only the actual mattress. The plastic that was on the mattress was filled with large hole and the mattress was dirty. It's been a month and now I realize that the mattress has bed bugs. I wake up every morning with large swollen bites all over my body. At first I thought well maybe its just mosquitos But now it's cold outside and im still waking up with these bites on my body. I called the national customer service number at 800-422-8186 to find out what to do and had to leave a message on a bed bug complaint line. The voicemail says one business day and someone will contact me. we'll see.

I recently purchased a Refrigerator for 90 days same as cash. It had serious dents and scratches and that is why they had a lower price for 90 day SAC. The RAC Store is in Pinellas Park, Florida and the Manager is Mark. When the delivered the frige, they damaged my front door and didn't want to hook it up. I wanted to make sure it worked before they left. The water dispenser did not work and they were going to come back and fix it. Three days of not putting anything in the frige - had a cooler with ice and I had to call them back. A week later, I finally put my food in the frige and told them to get someone out there to fix it. They said it would have to be removed from the home. They sent the Assistant Manager but he didn't know anything about that frige. They were going to get back to me and never did. Between many phone calls - still no return call. I received calls about payment due - I told them I would be on the date it was due to pay it off as I was not weekly - I was 90 day SAC - I went in to make final payment of 150.00 and all of a sudden it was 285.00 owed... NO WAY.. They said I had to pay tax for three months. I did business with RAC about 20 years ago... I don't know what happened but RAC is no longer a good company to do business with. They do NOT stand behind their products, they do NOT follow through and I also had them lie to me. Bottom Line- STAY AWAY FROM RENT-A-CENTER. It does not employee professional people and they are more like used car saleman - selling lemons and hiking up the price when you're ready to payoff. Now I have to spend my own money to fix the refrigerator which was promised worked / and then would fix. Shame on you Rent A Center, shame on you.

The people that work at rent a center are absolutely rude!!! Rent a center is a rip off, and the furniture is terrible. My husband and I recently decided to rent from the store in Glen Burnie MD. The furniture was to be delivered on a Friday between 3-6. The furniture never arrived. I called the store and someone told me that my furniture was on its way. No one ever showed up. The next day, I called the store, and I spoke with the manager. My couch arrived and my coffee tables were not delivered. I called the store and once more I was told that my tables were on their way. No one called, and no one showed up. Two weeks later the couch broke, and no one came to fix it. We continued to pay our payments on time, and my mother died, and we were unable to pay the furniture on time. A woman, who was absolutely rude, showed up at my house demanding payment for the furniture. We told her that she could take the furniture back. She informed us that we would need to contact the store. Two hours later she showed up again wanting to know why we did not call the store. Rent a Center is horrible, and the employees are morons. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!!

Me and my husband rented a washer and dryer paid on it for 3 months and my husband changed jobs, so we got 10 days behind when I called to make a payment of 20.00 which is our normal payment and told them I would catch the payment we were behind that weekend which was 3 days away, Josh said I can't take that payment I need the full amount or to schedule a pick up. My husband didn't get paid til Friday so I couldn't pay the full amount. So I scheduled a pick up and the day of the pick up they didn't make it on time and I went to work. In my opinion this company has no regard for human beings and do not care about a change in your life that may affect your payments and work with you to help catch up the late payments and to think you get 2 days behind and the harrassment starts. My husband is an over the road truck driver and makes good money so it would have been no problem to catch up the payment. These people make alot less and treat you as if you are the scum of the earth and disrespect you every chance they get, I wonder if one of the job qualifications is being able to bully and harass people for fun. It makes no sense for them to be this way when they get the product returned they have lost money on the product because of not working with you and then the product sits on their floor unrented for weeks or months if it is ever rented again, so why not work with people who intend to pay off their product. This company sounds to me like it needs to go out of business and be taken to court by everyone on this forum to pay for the harassment and for any and all damages to peoples property.

In 2008 i bought a bedroom set from rac with no problems. 20,in 2009 i bougth a flat screen and after 11 months of payments i got 2 days behind on my payment. I pay 75 but only had 50..i was told to have the other 25 by 5:30 . But they brag about how good of a customer i am. Never again!

I have been trying to get a new computer from this store in Kingsport Tennessee for awhile. When I got the computer it was not holding a charge and my mom got one also and it was doing the same thing we have both taken our computers back. Mom now has a refrigerator and it took them three weeks to bring it out and then they didn't know how to get it in the house or take it apart. Now they were suppose to bring her out a stove that has been order since September 17th 2010 and it is now November 02 2010 and they just brought her out a used stove for the second time and said that they didn't have one even ordered for her. What is the deal with this place I think they would take more pride in the customer that they have. However if you have gotten things repo'ed from they will bring you out any damn thing you want I guess we should let them take our stuff back and then get back then they will bring anything we want...

this company has the worst customer service in the world. i rented a washer and dryer stackable from them back in april of this year. paid all payments on time and at the last of august i had to go to north carolina because my mother became critically ill, while i was gone i had a friend feeding and walking my dogs because i couldn't leave them with no one to care for them. while i was in icu with my mom, j.j. and daniel from my local rentacenter in cartersville ga. called me, over and over, and my friends no less than eight times daily. i could not receive nor make calls from this icu area (evidentally it causes problems with their equipment) i would go outside to get some fresh air or something to eat and my phone would start buzzing with all the calls from this store. i told these young men that i would be back around the first of sept and they would be payed, didn't matter, they kept calling the hospital, my friends refused to take their calls anymore, one in particular because he said they made threats to break into my home, which would have been bad news since there is a pit bull confined in that laundry room. the day i pulled up to the funeral home to take care of arrangements for my mom, i was sitting in the car waiting for my brother,as he had to come down from maine, but he was her executor and he had the policies for the funeral home. so i am sitting there and j.j calls me, i went off on him, i said you know my mom is dying, well now i am making plans for her funeral and i am sitting in front of the funeral home waiting for my brother to arrive. he never said okay, i am sorry, only when are you going to pay me? i told him since he had harrassed me and everyone i knew that i would try to fly back down here and then go back up to n.c. to help my brother. i did not get to come back, his co worker daniel actually called me two minutes after i spoke to j.j. and i said you f'ing idiot, i am in a funeral home and i just spoke to your co worker j.j. he said oh, i didn't know and i said maybe you people should compare notes, this company had lied to me since the first day, i was told i was getting a new unit, it was a filthy unit with stagnant water standing in it, the lint filter had never been clean and there was no hardware to put the rails together to stack the dryer above the washer and no vent work for the dryer. i called derrick knowles at the local cartersville store and he said oh, i did promise you a new unit, i will get one out of the back right now, when i originally ordered this unit, he told me they didn't have any of these units and he didn't keep them in the store. i caught him in a big lie. by the way, i was standing at the gravesite during the services and daniel called me again, i stepped back out of earshot of the family, friends etc and promised him that when i got home he would--for all the harrassment i had been through that he would have a thirty to forty five minute window to get to my home, meet up with a friend that could get in and get his f'ing machines, as i was over it. i told him he better be on time because i was leaving out to return to my mom;s to tie up the various loose ends one has to deal with in this sort of thing. they didn't show, after driving me and my family and friends crazy with the multitude of calls, he couldn't show on time. my friends and family started refusing their calls and said they would never use them, nor would they recommend this company. i just got a call from my neighbors, one next door, one in the apt behind my home. mr. knowles went to their homes questioning them about me. they said he was walking around my house saying i know you are in there, he was screaming this and they say he was yelling, i know you are home, i ain't leaving, i will break into this house etc. they said he sat in my driveway and just held down the horn until one of them told him that they were going to call the police. rentacenter also called the police to my house and told the neighbors he was going to get them break into my house. my neighbors are pissed, this company did not score any points from this neighborhood, they showed their true ghetto thug attitudes. the last time daniel called me at the gravesite, i told him that i would have a friend go in and break the unit down, mr. knowles was scared to death of my pit bull, so i had a man bring some tools over, and asked if he would take the unit out of my home with a piano dolley that i would leave on the porch, i carefully wrapped the unit with that plastic that you put on the floors to protect them when you paint. they were wrapped, taped up, there was a note on the washer that the two lowest cycles do not work and i asked my friend to leave them on the dolley as it would be easier for the guys to roll it to their truck and onto their lift. i asked that they leave the dolley, they took this machine and my piano dolley, which was not returned. they had men calling me from the dalton ga. and calhoun ga stores to threaten me. one neighbor told them to leave or he would call the police. the police did come, but i think that is was mr. derrick knowles that called them. i asked my neighbor to see if they left any paperwork for me and he said he would check and call me back. call back said no, he said they were walking around looking in my windows, trying to break the glass on my storm doors. my front door is locked from the inside as it does not have a key for the lock, so the storm door will not open and you couldn't get the house door open unless you were on the inside. he said he thought they were going to break my back door, it my storm door doesn't lock but the door to the laundry area has a full face glass door. he told my neighbor if he could get in he was going to, as i said there is a pit bull in that room. i was told he was trying hard to antagonize her, she was trained to protect her people and her home. i think they came and took the machine, and my piano dolley and have done something with it and think they can pull one over on me because i couldn't be here. my neighbors are calling me now, i told them to call the police if he shows again, he is not going to break into my home for something that i told them to come get, they didn't and i had to leave it next to my car, i left my car covered since i flew, it was covered and the machine was right next to it, also covered. i had already talked with an investigative news reporter in our area to expose this store for what it is and how they operate. so they need to figure out which one of them took it home or sold it and get off of my back. beverly coombs

This is the worst company a person could possibly rent from! Don't do it. Either go without ot find something used. The complaints from others on this website are completely on target. I have had the same probledms with RENT A CENTER in Connersville, Indiana. The employees talk down to you if you are one day late. I have been called up to eight times per day being only one day late. I called corporate and found out what their policies are regarding these phone calls. I was told that the stores cannot call more than three times and they can only leave one message. To all of you with complaints call corporate and ask for policies and procedures. They have to tell you what they are. I am a thirty year employee in management and customer service and I knew what I could do. Call the police if they show up at your door. They have no right to come to your prpoerty and you can have them removed. Also, if you rent an item that cost $1300 approx. money you will pay a total of $3000.00 for it. I rented due to the fact I am disabled and cannot go up or down stairs repeatably to do laundry. I am discontinuing Rent A Center and I am finding something used. This company is pathetic. Looks like Majic Johnson (he owns Rent A Center for those of you who do not know this) could do a whole lot better in the complaint department of his company. This company caters to those of us who do not have funds to buy at one time. With the econom,y the way it is looks like this would not be allowed to happen. Guess Majic just gets rich off of the poor. Where is Robin Hood when you need him?

never ever buy from rac because i am a new customer in this town of fuquay-varina,nc and i am renting a dryer never been late on my payments, and because rac can't want until this friday t get my payment of $13.00 they want to come and pick up the dryer, listen folks never go to rent-a-center they are TERRIBLE PEOPLE.

I rent a bed from the Blue Springs MO store, I work long hours and some weekends. Sometimes I do not make it to the store when THEY like me to get there but I always make my payments. I was working out of the area this past weekend. When I retreived my messages, A rep from rent a center called to remind me my payment was due and didn't realize that he was still recording a message which at that point he called me a F!@#en Looser. Very poor service and for him to pass judgment on me like that is unacceptable.

Rent a Center in foley alabama was great. Hope the manager was a peach.I'm not to sure about this one in springfield,oregon.They don't call when they are running late,then can't even remember your name.and why did i have to pay a week ahead to get on a delivery list?this is crazy.

Just left RAC due to the Mgr (Elliot) and the asst mgr gave me the incorrect quote on my account again as usual. The store mgr (Elliot) left a message on my husband cell phone stating that if I didn't make my pymt for this 2 week period and an additional week they could no longer accept my payments from me. Now, I've had my stove since June of this year only been late 3 times (payment due on Monday make payment on Friday along with late fee)so it's not like, I'm 14 days or stealing there merchandise and I make my pymts and all. However, this particualar day just wasn't good because we go through this every two weeks with a reminder of calls prior to my payment date. Another thing is that the asst store mgr forged my signature on the approved application which was brought to the store mgr attention and all he could say was he didn't think, I mind. Today just really brought me to another level. The Mgr (Elliot) told me if, I was going to tell the story make sure I get it right and that people like me only come to RAC because we can't go anywhere else. He came from behind the counter to proceed to say that we will come to your house and get the merchandise and I told him he could but when he does the police would be waiting to escort him from my residence and at that point have since then contacted the Corporate office in regards to this compliant and also filed a compliant at the local police department.

They suck!!! I have been a customer since 99 and have paid off 5 things , they like to bug you if you are a day late things happen people!! they are trying to take money anyway they can .Iam 2 days late, and getting phone calls. saying that i have to pay 2 weeks or they are coming to get it!!

i am writting to you to let you know that,i have been making payments on my dinette set,and when i called them mable two or three weeks ago,and asked them what was my balance,and they yold me six hundred and something,it is still the same as when i purchased the item,so where is my money going to,certaintly not on my bill,and when i make a two week payment,they still calling me for another paymenti dont know whats going on,but i am not making another payment until this issue is resolve so either give me all of my money back,or ajust my bill,so i can be back on the right track,o love your prducts,and i always go back for more,i am a loyal customer,i went online and read so many bad bad reviews on (rac),complaints,harrasments,threats,let alone the verbal abuse,so far i havent had any of those things happen to me and i'm not gonna start that either,so please resolve this matter,thank you a loyal customer.

The last week of July I had phoned RAC and I had asked them if they had a bed that I had seen online in stock. The store Manager stated that they did and that she could have it out to my home on that coming Thursday. Well, Thursday came and went. The following morning I was told that they were short staffed that it would be delivered on Saturday. Saturday came and went. Closed Sunday. Monday, I was told, "Oh! we did not deliver it because you have to pay one week up front". Odd how the STORE MANAGER did not tell me this during my initial call. Okay, I will do better I will pay you three weeks. On top of this they were doing a promo where I have received a week free. So this makes 4 weeks settled without the product in hand. Now I am told that the bed that they had that would have been delivered has been sold. BUT! they have found me one in FT Myers. They are going to pick that one up and deliver it to me. SURPRISE! Not delivered. That one was sold. They will call me when they find one. KEEP IN MIND THEY HAVE MY MONEY!!! A few days pass and I call the store as anyone would do when they have paid for something that they have not received. They found one in LEHIGH ACRES. They are going to get and bring it to me. SURPRISE! Not delivered. That one has no rails. BUT! No fear they can order me one BUT! it will take a good 6 plus weeks. AGAIN, keep in mind they have my money! Now we are on two weeks after my request for this bed and I do not have the product. Now I am told that they can give me one to use while I am waiting on the ordered one. I told what I did not want relative to what they brought me. NO leather on the bed and NO USED MATTRESSES. SURPRISE!!! Leather on the bed and used mattresses....I SENT IT BACK! They STILL HAVE MY MONEY and I STILL HAVE NO PRODUCT!! Now I get this call from RAC to tell me that I am due on my PC today. RAC has over a $100.00 of mine for a product that they are not getting to me and they have the nerve to phone me about this!!! am I late? NO! But RAC likes to call you on the day that you are due oh, like 19 times in one day all, all logged into my cell!! Now back to the bed. I receive a phone call that they have found one and that they are going to deliver it. SURPRISE. NOT DELIVERED. I call the store and speak to the STORE MANAGER and was told they were suppose to call you as it was getting late and they could not bring it to me that day but will be there tomorrow. SURPRISE no one called. She said well I will give you two weeks on your pc for the problem. Great. Now the bed comes, they leave. THREE WEEKS AFTER MY REQUEST. Now, I get this phone call that first week of having the bed; YOU OWE ON THE BED!! WHAT???? I paid three weeks in advance and was given one free week. I have not had it a full week and I owe on it. Someone did not put it in the PC. Now the following week CALL again!! You owe on the bed...you are kidding me right? I DO NOT OWE on the bed, again, I now have three weeks left until my next payment (for the record they called my cell 8 times that day). Now Monday rolls around they call again! You owe on the bed!!! Now I call and speak to the store manager, oh I will have to look at the account. WHAT? The next week comes. SAME THING, relentless phone calls. Now I am on the third week of having the bed. I come home from work to a note on my door from RAC saying "sorry we missed you". So now I call the store and get the Store Manager; because you owe on the bed. This went back and forth. She could not tell me when they delivered the bed they have no record. How about starting with the paper that I had signed when it was delivered with my name and date which they did NOT copy me on and cannot find! Now I tried for three days to call the district manager. I am told that she tried to call me back. We have a conversation. Sje was stating well you owe and we gave you three weeks free....!!! Okay AMERICA do the math: If I have the bed for three weeks. I paid three weeks on my credit card (I have a record), they gave me an initial free week due to a promo, and the district manager claims that she gave me three weeks, HOW DO I OWE, hell, I should be in the good for another how many weeks? Now, on the same day of the conversation with the district manager stating to pay on 9/18 today (even though I know she is screwing me), a letter is sent to me from RAC that it is serious matter blah blah. I call the district manager re: this letter. She never calls me back. Now today rolls around I call the store to make a payment on my pc which I do need to pay and on the bed, (even though they are cheating me). She puts me on hold and another employee who is told that my son in law will stop by the store today to make payment. Then a brief conversation is had with with this employee who said that they are charging me from the date of my request and not the delivery date. So now I tell him to look at the date that it was delivered and do the math from there. He said he could not as no one logged it into the PC. So I said look at my paperwork as I dated it next to my signature on the deliver date. He said he would research it. Moving forward, again I told him that someone would be in today. An hour later RAC calls. Are you going to pay on your account? I have now filed a complaint with the BBB, will be filing a complaint with the Florida States Attorneys Office, and will be filing civil charges on Monday morning. BEWARE PEOPLE......RAC not only steals from it's customers, it hinders and harasses them as well. They are predators!!!

I have a washer dryer and couch from RAC. 2 weeks ago I had a death in the family I told them I would come in as soon as I got into town, Knowing this they still called me EVERYDAY reminding me that I have to come in. Like I forgot! These people are so rude!!! Then they knocked on my front door, my 11 year old daughter answered and the guy told her I want a payment of I am taking the stuff. ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? She is 11 years old! I have now posted a sign on my front door warnign them that I have a Large Guard Dog and if she attacks one of them because they keep tormenting her by knocking and banging on my door or making my children scared I will not be held responsible. Let them come again and they will have a 75 pound pregnant pit bull in there face. I am done with this company
