I am writing as a spouse of a manager. He works LONG LONG hours! He is required to work 50 hours a week. When he had to have surgery his weekly pay through insurance was 40 hours. They told me that 10 hours were overtime....even though they don't get paid overtime EVER. Managers work on salary so the more hours they work, the less they get paid. Due to bad employees and employees that call in sick every week, my husband (who I have kids with) has been working 70 hours a week. He works for weeks with no days off. Its awful and starting to ruine our marriage. The worst part about it is that he gets little to no support from his store manager. He gets no thanks and it is burning him out. He is in a store north of Atlanta. Please remember while sometimes the managers aren't as helpful as they could be, on occasion it is for very good reason....lack of sleep and TOO MANY HOURS!

I have been shopping at the Publix store 0311 for the past 20 years and I have always thought shopping here was a great experience. However, after what has happened in the last few months, I don't feel like shopping here anymore. I was at the cashier check out and the cashier accidently scanned an item twice. So he had to void it and then needed some manager to sign in the special numbers so I could go ahead with paying my bill. The cashier waited for quite a long time to get a manager but the managers were nowhere to be found. Finally one came(I found her name is Julia )and put in the numbers without saying sorry or even acknowledging me.This kind of thing has happened so many times in the last few months that it becomes quite stressful. Specially when the managers or the employees in the green shirts ( maybe receptionists) are totally unapologetic about it.Sometimes I asked for an item I could not find and nobody takes it seriously. It is just like they don't care. In the past this store was so good to customers. I felt welcome as everyone was so courteous and helpful. However, just like the other Publix stores this store 0311 has gone terribly downhill. The managers are just "having a good time with one another", talking & laughing, probably cracking jokes on us customers, baggers are talking to one another instead of customers or just walking around aimlessly, instead of helping the customers bag the groceries. There is no point in blaming the baggers as they are just following what the managers or receptionists are doing.Nobody is interested in showing "great customer service" that they did before. I don't feel like shopping here anymore-it looks like this Publix store just doesn't care for the customers.I hope the corporate does something about this to make store 0311 what it was again.

A few things to mrs robin diamond. ONE YOU ARE A RACIST if theyre nasty their race has nothing to do with it. Another thing is that deli associates are required to try to sell you boarshead items and suggest another item plus another item then suggest something from another department we get graded on this VERY strictly an it counts against our work performance.so if we dont do that...no raise.

Having spent 23 years in retail---not at Publix---I'm not surprised by many of the comments. These are often customers who think they are right until they get all the facts, then don't say anything when they are proven wrong. Publix has higher prices than WalMart, but more selection and faster service. You pay for what you get. Outside of the bakery often being outof some items in the store I shop at, I've never experienced the rudeness, overcharging, dirty store, or any of the other assorted problems listed.

May 10, 2011 Demo Sales 5385 Gateway Blvd Suite 12 Lakeland FL 33811 RE: Mildred Jones Store #240 To Whom It May Concern: Recently, while shopping at the Publix Store #240, I had the pleasure of interacting with one of your employees, Mildred Jones. Ms. Jones is a wonderful representative for your company and should be acknowledged as such. She greeted me with a smile and was extremely helpful in solving a problem that I had. It is always a pleasure to encounter employees who are pleasant and personable. This brief exchange between the two of us made my day brighter and easier. Sincerely, Toni Barkett

Publix is a great store with cleanliness and good buys but with a HUGE fly in the ointment. They seem to hire employees who can breath. Lack of manners, customer service and the knowledge that without customers they don't have a job is the situation in many of their locations. I have deliberately made a study of this in a myriad of locations to see if I was being super critical. Nope, I'm not. My I suggest that every current and potential hire must absolutely attend a required number of hours in a given time period on how to courteously and cordially deal with clients. Attendance would have to be substantiated in signed documentation that they did attend. Failure to do so would be spelled out upon hiring that shirking this requirement would be grounds for immediate dismissal - no ifs, ands or buts. I guarantee, your sales will increase tremendously and you will then be laughing all the way to the bank even more than youu do now. Test drive this in one location to substantiate its validity. Then, expand it everywhere. Use mystery shoppers for feed back to keep a handle on things. GET INOVATIVE!!!! What prompted this was another damned annoying shopping trip to your store at 58th Ave., Vero, Beach with a totally unprepared employee, n/o Heather, who was busy conversing with a friend who had stopped in to visit. I was checked out, paid for my food and never exchanged a glance nor a word with the woman! How's that for customer service?

I've been shopping there at the store 514 (which is located at 8725 Roswell Rd. in Atlanta , GA) for almost two years , bcause i just moved to this location . But i've been shopping at publix for over 8 years. And i have NEVER had a bad experience at customer service like i had on May 2nd , around 9:30 i called the store nd asked if western union was working cause i had an emergency to send money right away , so when i got to the store the cashier told me " oh sorry we are closed " when the store closes at 11 ; one of the managers came up there she said , " ohh the printer is broke. " but then i said " i called before i got here , and then the customer service staff by the name of "Tay" she was rude because i also hade a couple returns and i had my reciept and she just refused to put the money back on my credit card and she just gave me an additude and gave me a gift card . when i know of a fact that if you have a reciept it has to go back the way you paid , and i know because my mom works for publix and shes been working there for over 7 years . i hope they do something about it , and bring the right persons to customer service , cause this is all about customer service

PUBLIX BAKERY IN POINCIANA FL ON CYPRESS PARKWAY STORE 758 ONLY HAS ONE CLOSER! UNBELIEVABLE TO THINK THIS EMPLOYEE CAN HANDLE EVERY CUSTOMER ON THEIR OWN! HELLO I WAITED IN THE BAKERY FOR 20 MINUTES AFTER THEY FINALLY FINISHED TAKING A STUPID PHONE CALL ORDER THEN TO TAKE CARE OF THE OTHER CUSTOMERS THEN CAME ME! WHAT KIND OF ABUSE IS THAT? GET THIS EMPLOYEE SOME DANG HELP!

I have been a very loyal shopper of Publix for the last 7 years. Many years ago Publix opened a store right up the road from me, and that is when I became a very loyal shopper. Overall the store (Store #00844) is an alright store. The associates are all very nice, and extreamly helpful. Where my problem comes in is that several years ago my husband went to work for Publix. He was extreamly excited about working for the company. From what he knew Publix was a very very good company to work for. However, after talking to persons that have retired from Publix, and worked in FL when Publix's were starting. I have come to the conclusion that the way Publix treats employees is not up to the standards that were orginally set forth. My husband has been with the company for over 3 years. Many many many times he was promised that his could advance with the company, and even given a list of hoops to jump through. Everytime he does exactly as he is told and every time he is given a different excuse as to why they can't promote him, or at least give him full-time. However, this is neither here or there. As of this point we have decided that Publix doesn't deserve him, and he is done jumping through hoops for them. We are tired of being constantly let down. BESIDES all of that in the 6 months he can't tell you of one instance that any member of management has once given him any form of postive critisim. It has been nothing but negative, negative, negative. I find it really hard to believe that anyone could go an entire 6 months or more and have not done one thing that deserves something nice to be said. If this is how Publix expects their managers to act. Then we don't want to have my husband move forward in the company, cause no where in my beliefs do I believe that he could ever be as rude and disrespectful as they are to him.

I moved to Orlando F.L back on 1996 from Puerto Rico. Since then, I have never seen a better supermarket than Publix!!! "It is what it is" Everytime I go to publix, I find myself saying "what a great place!!!" Employees are so nice, helpful and theY really make you feel home =) They also have great deals... Buy One get One free! Prices on the meats are higher, but quality is exeptional! is funny how some people claim that they prefer to go to walmart or winn dixie :/ PUBLIX IS A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN WALLMART OR WIN DIXIE OR ANY OTHER SUPERMARKET!!!!!! Try to find help in one of those places! huh! You never find someone to help you like publix people do HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! I LOVE AND ENJOY SHOPPING AT PUBLIX =)

@ MRS.DIAMOND It must be about race or u could have left that part out,u also should have had someone type up for u,cuz u really will not be taken seriously when u can not even spell,or put the words togetter correctly!OOOOOOOH AND BY THE WAY U MUST LIVE IN THE GHETTO YOURSELF TO BE SHOPPING IN ONE OF THOSE SO CALLED TRASHY STORES!

I went to the 1170 Weston Rd, weston FL Publix ion Feb 27. I was very happy with my shopping there and to top it off, Publix supports the veterans who I gave a generous donation to. I myself was a Veteran and I appreciate all the support Publix gives them!

I shop in Lakeland Fl Southgate Publix store, I want to say the entire management team is awesome, everyone I encounter each week to shop is nice, helpful and I enjoy my experience, other store such as Winn Dixie and Wal-mart are dirty and the workers never ask if you need help, or how are you until check out, I d want to point one manager at Southgate Bert Grimes, he is the most helpful, kind and caring young man that is a star Publix manager, and for an older person to have to ask for help sometimes is hard to do, but he is always so kind and patient with me, he deserves a Kudos! Eugenia Southgate Publix Store in Lakeland Florida

I have shopped at Ramblewood Square Publix since its opening and have continued to do so despite the fact that a new Publix has opened much closer to my home in the former Albertson's location (the new store is a discredit to your corporate image but that is another review). Up to now I would have given Ramblewood Square a 5+ star rating because of the helpfulness of the staff. As a vegetarian, I am delighted to find the Soy milk I drink, the tofu I eat, and other healthy choices so that I do not have to go to Whole Foods or Tunies too often. Unfortunately, the grocery department has tarnished the image of Ramblewood Square and I have to question whether I will return there. For years I have purchased GARDENBURGER brand ORIGINAL GARDENBURGERS and VEGETABLE GARDENBURGERS. They then were pushed out by agribusiness companies selling their imitation meat patties. GARDENBURGERS are made of rice and mushrooms and make no effort to pretend to be anything else. It never occurred to me that Publix would discontinue a product that seemed to sell very well so I spoke with the grocery manager, he took my name and phone number and said he would look into it. I questioned him a week later since I had not heard from him and enough time had elapsed (actually between my husband and I we shop there at least 3 times a week). He admitted he totally forgot me and the conversation. I gave him my name and phone number a second time. Another week passed with no call. While at the store, I met an employee late on a Tuesday evening and asked her if she could help. Once again I gave my name and phone number and she said she would be working with the grocery manager on Thursday and would get back to me. I can only imagine that copies of my name and phone number are papering the bathroom walls since after 3 attempts in as many weeks I have heard from no one. Having crowed out most of the competition, I think it's time to shop elsewhere. I'm obviously not indispensable to Publix and Publix is not indispensable to me.

I am getting very mad at the Lehigh Acres, FL. store. Every time we go in, they overcharging on their items. today alone we were over charged four dollars on a handful of items. My wife called to complain to a manager and they would only let her talk to some meat cutter named George. Who couldn't answer our problem anyhow! Why is Publix going downhill when economy is going bad? I would think you would do everything within your power to make me want to come back to your store! not make me want to go to the WinDixie! Of which my family and I are considering going if you don't get your act together.. and I will tell all my friends about your OVERCHARGING. if you have it on sell, you better get them registers giving the sell price, not some full price. and and when someone calls to complain to a manager??? being told you can only talk to a meat cutter?? are you kidding me? it is 9:15 pm on 2/2/2011 and we just got off the phone with "George" the meat cutter. honestly you are starting to really suck on your customer service. I am 40 years old and don't play this game. in Michigan stores have to not only pay the difference in price but extra depending how much over they charge. I will also contact the Attorney General and let them know your overcharging practices. this isn't the first time it has happened to me but it will be the last! I live 8 miles out of town and normally won't go back over a buck or two overcharge. but over the last 3 years it has become a very noticable bite in my wallet..and we were only given a meat cutter to talk to. shame on you!

Today I was banned from the publix in on Young Circle in Hollywood florida by a manager. I thought the name tag said John but was not sure as I caught I brief glimpse. I was noticing how expensive everything was and some things publix is making 100% profit on the items. 5 pounds of chicken at publix goes for around 18.00 and we can get the same 5 pounds of chicken for 12.00 at bravo. Customers should be allowed to have an opinion. The manager did not have me leave until a customer who stood behind me say that you can get coffee cheaper at walmart. Since when is Publix a dictatorship? My number is 754 423 0990 I am not going back and I will tell my friends and eveyone I know not to go back, Very rude service on the managers part and the manager should be setting the example of excellent customer service to his employees. Publix needs to be taken down a peg for sure.

what is all this your own brands.................You have made me shop at WINN DIXIE for the brands I have used for years. Good luck I will now be a dedicated Winn Dixie shoper. BY BY You have become too big for your britches,,,,,

I have had nothing but grief shopping at Publix. They are staffed with Mutants,Nasty French Haitian niggers and common scum. They have NO idea how to make a fucking sandwich!!! PATHETIC. The deli is where I have experienced the most Rude niggers OHH I'm sorry sir let me get you the manager (another mutant nigger)....How can I hep youse sir? I want to hurt these people I could if I lost my self control!! so I'll spell it out on this useless blog.HEY PUBLIX WAKE UP YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKERS!!

To Whom It May Concern: I come to your office with deep concerns of one of your employees, Sandy Shaffer. Over the past 4 months, I have been repeatedly harassed by Ms. Shaffer while shopping in your store (Publix Store# 1099 – St Johns County/Jacksonville FL). On two separate occasions, I have tried to resolve this matter with other managers but as of today no results. I have been a customer for over 20 years and expect more respect than I have been receiving to resolve this issue; Ms. Shaffer has serious anger issues and lacks customer service skills. As a manager myself, Ms. Shaffer would have been fired long before now but some employees have a way of smoothing things over. At a minimum she should be required to attend anger management classes as well as numerous customer service training programs. Ms. Shaffer has issues with me because I am aware of her relationship with my son (also a Publix employee/Store# 1099); I do not condone management relationships with other staff and she is aware of my feelings. Regardless of this situation, she has no right whatsoever to harass me in your store while patronizing Publix. I do not feel it is my responsibility to change locations and shop at other Publix Stores because of her mental problems. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter as quickly as possible. I look forward to the day I can shop in my Publix Store# 1099 with peace of mind.
