I am a current manager of a Payless store in Canada and I am shocked to read all of these reviews. I am so sorry to each and every one of you who had a bad experience. I have a great team of girls and would never dream of hearing any of this stuff going on in my store. There are coupons at the bottom of recipts that let you score the service you recieved. Our corporate office takes these surveys very seriously! Come to Canada....we can show you they type of service you should get at Payless.

The lead worker(won't call her a manager)at the Payless Store at 8065 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge La. My daughter went in to get a application while i picked up an order, kimberly told her they was not hiring at the time, but not knowing my niece was in the store with us. She over heard the other worker tell kimberly why was she lying because they were taking applications.kimberly replied i'm not hiring nobody i'm trying to get paid,and anyways she is fat.If i had the time i would get a lawyer and file suit because kimberly was out of league for talking about my daughter. I was in their 5812 location and was treated very poorly. I was purchasing a pair of sandals for my 2 yr old son. I brought along a running shoe it was puma to use as a guide to purchase the sandal. Well to make a long story short I purchased the sandal and forgot the running shoe at the store. I called back and spoke to a lady named Mellissa. She informed me that the shoe was there and I told her that I would pick up the shoe the following day. Well to my surprise when I got there I was told that they cannot find the shoe. I thought that was very strange because I was told that the shoe was infact in the store. So the sales associate told me to come back on Friday that the girl that was working that night would be there. Well on Friday I got there and again no shoe. The way the situation was handled was not professional at all. My number was taken but nobody called me back it was almost like they were avoiding me. Now I have to purchase another sneaker for my son. The thing that is most upsetting is that I was told that they have the shoe but when I got there the sneaker was gone and so was the sales associate. They were not professional at all the were very unprofessional. Everybody in that branch needs to be trained because they have no customer service skills at all. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT PAYLESS AGAIN IT WAS AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!

I entered your Levittown location on Sunday June 3rd with two toddlers in tow, one of my kids age 2 took off her shoes and ran and hid them. i couldnt find them so i asked the "manager" if he could help me or view the camera. Attitude, attitude,and eventually i called the police. Levittown is known to be racial as it is over 85% white. I was just passing by and had gone to the nearby buffet. the police were of no help each accusing me of trying to scam the store. statements like "are you sure she had on shoes when she came in?" DUH obviously. I had been told to buy something or leave the store which i did but would like to still have someone look for the shoes. they are not payless shoes, they were purchased at Kohls and they are not even similar to the ones you sell. i also want to let you know that the "Manager's attitude was disgusting and i didnt allow myself to let him really have the benefit of me making him cry, because i had my babies with me. So this is something i want to inform you of. and of course, please please please have them search for the shoes. they have my number but i doubt if they really would look for them. maybe the cameras would tell. thank you

Working @ Payless was the wrst experience I've ever had! I wrkd retail ( famous footwear ) for four years and was recruited by a Payless employee while browsing one day on my break,, I wasn't getting many hours @ famous and the so called boss said Id get more hours, ha what a joke! She was the worst boss to work for,, she would swear @ us, she would talk badly about all the other employees to other employees, she was so rude and talked down to all the employees! She would call other employees and say rude things, she had her favorite employees, she never said nething to any1's face,,, all she was was drama! Needless to say after a month of wrking there I went crawling back to famous and begging my boss for my job back,, thank god she said yes! So I went and put in my 2 weeks notice @ Payless and the so called boss there took my hours after the schedule was made and gave them to other ppl, she didn't even call me,, she txtd me and told me I didn't need to come back! How professional! After I had enough decency 2 give her a 2 weeks notice that's how she acted!!! I have never experienced a company that was so rude to their employees! Never work there! Pennsylvania,,, new castle store!

Nicole at store #3939 in Durham NC (Streets at Southpoint)has proven herself to be the most unprofessional sales associate I've EVER encountered at Payless. On May 31,2012 @ approximatley 8:42 p.m. EST the horrific encounter took place. Nicole was not only disrespectful, she was also not very competent. Her unwillingness to help me with a sale was shocking. Nicole preferred to stand and watch me search for shoes without offering any assistance. She literally stood with her mouth closed and didn't utter a word. When I asked her for a specific shoe size she finally spoke and responded by saying tellng me the shoe was on clearance. I didn't understand how her comment was relevant to what I asked. I asked her what did her response have to do with a shoe size, she sarcastically said that any shoe on clearance didn't have any other sizes in stock. She bluntly added the comment "that's what clearance means." She said this as she continued to stand in the same spot without actually checking in the storage room to confirm this. She then proceeded to sling more snide comments and was also foolish enough to tell me that she didn't care if I reported this incident to a District Manager because the store was closing down anyway! I was outraged by her behavior and decided to exit the premises before the situation became any worse. This type of (subpar) customer service cost Payless revenue. Not sure how she was able to obtain a job at this store, clearly it wasn't based on her personality. Please beware of Nicole, it appears she's there to offend and not assist. Payless would benefit more if they kept her in the storage room with the shoes!

I purchase a pair of sneaks ever two to three months for my son, some times i get only 6weeks out of any shoe. They completely fall apart, either the soles, sides burst, heels tear etc. So far I paid 20 for a pair in february, then again in April and again just two weeks ago. If the shoes gets wet they fall apart, what I thought was leather was plastic coating that came off very easy, the soles even though they were mark less worn down quickly just buy him walking in school and going out to gym. Two weeks ago his previous pair got wet from the rain we had. He went to school and by the time he came home the leather was ripped off of the toe area. The back cushion on the ankle was ripped and the shoes stunk. We went and purchased a new pair two weeks ago, the sole is almost gone. I'd like a quality shoe for my son to wear and apparently Payless is muvh less than quality.

Hello, Payless size 9 1/2 and 10 are not true to size. They are always too tight too narrow and too short.

My Manager always changes her time sheet saying she was there and she really wasn't so basically she's getting paid for not being there! Till this day she is still doing it! I don't think that's right and also i told the DM and they did nothing about it.

i bought a pair of sandals yesterday. I put them on & went to work this morning. by lunch time the left foot was soar.the buckle on the left foot was crooked & was pushing down on one side. That area was red & soar. So i went back to the store. I picked up the same style pair & noticed it has the same problem. So i picked up another pair same style & color just the buckle was round instead of rectangle. I have the cashier scan it & it was $7 more. So I asked her why is this so much more. She said you know why? So are you selling defective merchandise? Something that is more expensive is what we should buy. Than why do you sell the not so good merchandise. Any way I was looking at another style, I need it in smaller style ,so I asked her if they have that style n smaller size. She just walks away with all the pairs & goes in to the aisle & starts putting them away. Hello I am still standing here & trying to buy another pair. I will never shop at payless again. Will let all my friends & colleagues know.

I am writing payless corporate to inform them that one of thier employees in the maintenance dept. of thier corporate headquarters is a pot smoking drug dealer in his spare time at home. His name is Ken Dean. I have witnessed him deal out of his garage. He usualy has quite a quantity for sale to his friends and aquaintences. Thank you and have a good day.

I was shopping for a wedding trying to get enough shoes for the ladies... I can't believe the foul words coming out of the ladies mouth well she is no lady if she talks like that. Her name is Amber and she uses the f word alot along with using B*&^% word. The manager was just as bad. I wont be going back. The ross store has a few rude workers too, The nasty words out of their mouths is horrible. Is this something payless lets go on? I wont be shopping at either store. Where has the nice ladies gone? sad these young people talk like trash and dress like hookers.

So i bought the push ups and they dont work at all!!!ive had them for about 2 months now and they just get older not bettterr!!!!!!!!!!never shopping at payless again!

I just whent to buy shoes at payless in west Seattle store ( Westwood mall ) and I just saw a employee drinking alcohol and her dress to short ??? I need a number so ican make a complaint!!!

I was looking for a specific bridal shoe in the Orlando Store (Waterford Lakes). I had ordered them about 20 days ago and when I got them back, they weren't even close to the color I was looking for. I returned them and told the associate to help me try to find the correct color. The associate took the incorrect shoes and returned the money to a gift card.. (i paid cash) I didn't think it was a big deal since I was going to get them re--dyed. But I still should have gotten cash back. The associate rang up my new order and hoped that the correct color would match. I got them back yesterday 05/14/2012. And upon getting them in the store I opened them to make sure they matched. They still looked a little dark and I asked manager if they still didn't work and needed to return them, how would I get my refund back? The sopposed "mananger" told me that it would be a gift certificate. I told her that isn't how I paid for them in the orginal purchase. She told me that it didn't state that on the reciept. I then told her that the associate took my "customer copy" in order to return them. (I thought a customer copy, is the customers?????) She then told me that she would have to talk to the associate to find out what happened. She was was VERY rude and provided horriable customer service. YUCK!!!!! I am a manager at another retial shop and I would have never given her that kind of service. I would have extended my appologizes and looked up my orginal purchase in the computer and see if I did indeed paid with cash and then given my cash back....but nope!!!! Thats why I am calling corporate about this one....and can garentee that I NEVER EVER shop at that payless store again!!

i work at a payless now. i am a new associate. It's barely going to be a month in a few days. I am very upset with my store manager. There was recently a death in my family this passed sunday. Today (Friday) was the funeral. I had to work Monday through yesterday and am expected to go in tomorrow as scheduled. I have not been able to deal with this loss for i have been working every day since. Today was the first day i was able to see the whole family. I told her monday about the news as well as notify her that i might need an extra day off to deal with this. I kept trying to get someone to cover but no one wants to even though they know what is going on. But even if someone doesn't cover I am not up to working tomorrow. I sent her a message saying i will be unable to work tomorrow. She said that if i dont go in tomorrow then its my job. I have no write ups... only one call in because my car was broke down.. in front of the store. And she wants to threaten my job. And the longer i work there the more i notice she works everyone's work schedule around her personal schedule. she'll call in because she has "things" to do. It just disappoints me that she didnt even have the courtesy to ask if i'll need time off. but wants to threaten my job.

I just recently quit payless in apple valley, mn. I have worked many jobs in my life and i have also finished college, this being said i have worked for amazing managers and not so great managers but never a manager this bad. On my first day of work i was told how horrible it is to work there and how mean the managers ( from 2 stores) are, i listened to what they had to say but ultimatley i form my own decisions and wanted to see if this was true or not. After a couple weeks of work i started to notice some things, first off two of the managers are roomates, which ment the gossip between those two were non stop,every hour or less our phone was ringing off the hook and my manager would be in back complaining about another employee and so on. It got to the point were the managers would go to other employees and say things like, i do not trust this employee, or she/he is lazy, and it just gets worse from there. Employees were even receiving threatening text messages and phone calls. Not only that but infront of customers they would talk down to you, or go behind the register and ring customers up while smelling like smoke, having their jackets on with their cigarrets in hand. Or going to target while on the clock, or just leaving three hours early, which ment only one person was on for three hours by themselves. I have NEVER been so disrespected in my life, these stores are run poorly and even several customers have come up to me saying they feel bad for me and so on. Something needs to be done for the sake of the associates and the customers!!!

I have a summer home in McAllen, Texas and a home in Austin, Texas, I have yet to see or find any of your shoes you advertise on TV. NONE OF THEM!!! EVER!!! Where can you find them, in one store only and where corporate office is at!!!

I was shooping at paylees shoes store in chicago,illinois 47 and kedzie. The employees from there we're terible,they look like prostitues. The were almost naked. Somebody has to talk to that manajer by the way her name is lucy.

When I went to buy some shoes at Payless Shoes with a military discount I showed the cashier my ID. When the Cashier (Mandy)saw my ID she told me it has expired I then told her it was up to date when she saw that it was up to date she yelled at me and said "i am just checking is that ok with you". I told her i didn't say anything for her to be so rude she then said i had a sarcastic look on my face. After she rang me in she looked very angry. Before i left the store heading for the door she said a few remarks to me that were insulting. I believe that this is very unprofessional and this employee named Wanda needs to be reprimanded. I will not return to payless again because of this incident.
