Bad Customer Service

It seems that once you purchase a car then you are on your own. I have had nothing but trouble trying to get someone to help me to get my phone charger out of a car that I traded in. It took 10 days. Then I can't get anyone to help me with my cancellation of Mbrace. Don't go to Park Place in Grapevine.

My Mercedes Benz C230 2007 has 57,000 miles on it and the check engine light is on. I took it to the dealership and they said it was going to cost me $6,800 to fix. It was for a balance shift sprocket. I did some research online and found out Mercedes Benz commonly has this problem between 50,000 and 60,000 miles and has yet to make a recall on this defective part. They even had a class action lawsuit and if you google "Mercedes benz balance shift sprocket" it's all over the internet. They know the cars are prone to the problem yet they don't fix or recall the part.

Worst car experience ever

I bought a new car from Prestige Mercedes in Paramus. It was the worst experience ever buying a car or with a car dealership. They screwd up the registration and I had to return the car to them for 15 days. The loaner was filthy. The loaner mirrors were stolen and the dealership charged me $1700 for repair. The dealership agreed to pay one months lease then renege when I complained online. They are blatantly dishonest. Never buy from Prestige Motors in Paramus. They lie!

It should hold up more

I just purchased a 1996 Mercedes 500sl convertible from a private party. I think I just got taken to the cleaners. The reset modules left 5 unreset after driving 1000 miles. I took it to a dealer who called this afternoon and said the FF control needed to be replaced at a cost of 2,000.00, that in addition to 389.00 to fix the check engine light and to clear the codes. I just think that if Mercedes is going to maintain a good reputation they ought to build more reliable cars. This car has only 86,000 miles. Befuddled in Utica, NY...John Prescott

I own a 1995 E420 Mercedes 4 door sedan; This car has been in family since about 1997 and currently the milage on the car is 124,000; Since 5/28/2008 the repair bills to date which is 11/2/2012 has been $31,289.42; yes I am not kidding; some of these repairs were unfortunate about $4,500; The motor of this Mercedes is not the issue as long as you maintain it; its the rest of the car, it falls apart; replacing parts such as the wiring harnesses, emission parts, throttle actuator, engine mounts, radiator (twice), intake air boots, fan blade, fan clutch, headrests front and back have been repaired, brake lamp assembly, splash shield, control arm, rear suspension completely broke apart, radio repair (volume control; Becker Radio), replaced wiper unit, replaced antenna assembly, rebuilt transmission, replaced hazard switch, replaced a part of the dash cluster, replaced heater control valve, distributor cap has had issues and replacing, headliner came apart (poor design as new)and replace; this is just some of the issues; I was nuts to fix this car; its worth maybe $4,000; the interior is perfect, exterior on a 1 to 10 would give it an 8; no dents, no missing parts. If you own a Mercedes it costs a lot of money to repair it; its much wiser to lease one.

I purchased a new 2009 MB 350 CLK. For 3 summers the switch and mechanism to activate the convertible top has not worked. Three different patch jobs have been short lived. Finally, MB beleves they have defined the problem faced by customers for 3 years. MB offered a dinner certificate after not using the car (top down) for 3 years. Car has 9500 miles on it. By the way, the dinner certificate was never received.

Just wanted to say i love, love, love, my new Smart car. I have had it just over a year and it is a pleasure to drive and it makes people smile. This little car is a social magnet.MANY people daily ask us questions about my baby blue passion coupe.Just went on a trip to Colorado driving over 2,600 mile and averaged 60-8o- miles per happy gallon. What a blast as we got rid of our gas guzzling Jeep and now we go like no tomorrow. Thanks Mercedes for this little gem....

Worst car and worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Dealer said i have manufacture defect on my 2006e350 . I have been trying to deal with corp. they tell me they wii call me in24hr. they dont call back. its been 2 and 1/2 weeks. still know nothing. the coas is3000. this is my third merceded and my last. i just need mercaded to care and take care of this.there is a clss action suit on the same make year and modle, along with ten other complaints of the same.

in my opinion Mercedes Benz South Africa, under CEO DR M Zimmermann and VP Naeem Hassim, run a dishonest business supplying a poor service. the clutch on my A200 broke. Their legal department sent me a letter stating that they will not repair under motor plan as it was caused by driver abuse. They confirmed they had an expert report detailing that fact. I asked for that report and never received it. I appointed and attorney. We took the clutch to the manufacturer and asked them to report their findings. They stated it was not driver abuse. We sent this report to MBSA. They replied saying We have not made the clutch available for their expert to have a look. Strange they previously stated their expert did inspect the clutch and reported on it. We made the clutch available for MBSA. It was sent to east london for inspection. after much frustration and fighting they repaired the clutch. this process took over 3months. For 3 months i did not have a car - i am self employed. they will not consider any form of compensation!!!! the people employed do do even reply to simple questions like "who are the people you have escalated the matter to", they dont just say they cannot give that information out but simply stop communications. ridiculous!!!!!

I own a 2008 GL450 and my husband and I have had several Mercedes over the years. We have always taken them to the dealer for their inspections and service and always pleased with the service. Recently the 450 went in for service. We were called and told that three cylinders out of eight were bad and would cost $4800. My husband and I are retired and money very limited (along with millions of people lost a lot of money in 2008 and beyond). We bought Mercedes thru the years because we thought it was a good car and Mercedes would stand behind it. We bought this one thinking it would last us for years. I believe the cylinders should last more than 5 years and am disappointed to learn from the dealer and service provider of this car that its not common and we are just lucky I guess. To pay $66,466 for something to last 5 years is horrible and Mercedes should be responsible for this.

I have an interest in taking a European delivery on a GLK 250. I have contacted my local dealer and no one can tell me exactly when that model with the diesel will be available for delivery in Europe. Can someone help me out --I have plans on being in Europe mid February and mid April and the best answer I have to date is early spring. What does that mean. I would like to purchase that vehicle but I do need information otherwise it may be a Porsche. cell is 203-556-4892 e-mail atty.aspinwall@sbcglobal.net

Have had a continuous problem with my 2007sclass 4matic and the transmission. It moves from first gear to second with a loud thunk and a hard jolt. This appears only first thing in the am or until the car get warmed up. It has been back to the Dealer West Chester<very poor mechanical and customer service>have had the car back at least six or seventh times. The only response from Corporate is bring it back to the dealer. The dealer has refused to get a tech rep involved from Corp..This happens to be my ninth mercedes and I have nevr seen things as disfuctional as this. Every Corporate officer has a higher number to reach someone other then the std person who indicates bring it back to the dealer. I also hace an rclass 4 which is beginning to exhibt the same issue..think there is a connection

I went to this dealership to purchase a car and the manger, Frank became very upset when I told him I was not going to the car because the percentage rate was too high. Frank was refusing to give me my keys back after I had asked 3 times! They had my keys because they had appraised my vehilcle. It wasn't until I told FRANK that I was going to call the police if he didn't return my keys to ,that is when he gave them to me. Then, I realized the store had been closed and I was the only customer there and the doors were locked. I was scared because FRANK was raising his voice and told me I couldn't leave the dealership unless I took the car or left a deposit. I had to tell him sternly to give me my key and my heart was racing. I told him , " Do not follow me, I'm leaving." FRANK is very intimidating and he does not like the word NO! I am a 30 year old, petite female who was car shopping without my husband and he was trying to take advantage of me. FRANK made me very uncomfortable, he pressured me, and scared me. Once I got out of the dealership. I rushed onto the highway and I was nervous the whole ride home. He should not intimidate young women the way he did. I was all alone in the building and FRANK has a very bad temper. He told me I disappointed him and he told me I wasted his time!!! Unreal!

Driver's Air Bag wiring harness- Mercedes Benz extended warranty - I have a 2006 CLK 500 sport . - On August 25/2012 the SRS light came on. -It was Saturday early afternoon and I went to my usual authorized dealership/service in Beverly Hills, CA where I had been taken my car since I bought it. They said that it had to do with a security device, either seat belts or most likely air bag and to come back on Monday. I told them that I had to travel on business that weekend and that I would feel safer if I knew what caused the SRS light on.- A very nice expert technician volunteered to assist me. - He got an electronic device (sort of a computer with a screen)sat on the driver's seat, and attached a cable to the column of the steering wheel. - One minute later two lines pop up on the screen (two numbers on the left and two written lines) and he said that the cause was the wiring harness of the air-bag (knocking on the steering-wheel). He added I could drive , but to be careful and to come back on Monday. I dropped the car on Tuesday 8/28 and I was assigned to a service adviser I had never dealt with before. The service advisor called me back two days after, Thursday telling me that the problem was the wiring harness but the extra insurance I purchased at mercedes for about $5,000.00 would not cover that problem. The part only would cost me about $600.00+ .-I told him that the item was under warranty.- he insisted that I purchased an Insurance which did not cover air-bags. - He was totally unaware of Mercedes extended warranty on the part. Unable to communicate any further I told him not to do anything and that I would call back and pick up my car in the afternoon. I went there at 4.30 the same day, and after waiting for about 2 hours in a very unpleasant environment, I was told that my car had been taken apart and not put back together and to come back the following day. - I went back on Friday at 4.00 pm .- My car was not ready even though there was nothing to do and I had to wait 2 hours 45 minutes. I made an appointment for September 11 to have my car fixed, under Mercedes extended warranty and I showed Mercedes letter dated December 2010 (sent by Ralph Fisher, General Manager Customer Assistance Center of MBUSA LLC.) which reads: Daimler AG,the manufacturer of Mercedes benz vehicles, has determined that, due to a production quality issue electrical resistance variations may be detected within your driver's air bag wiring harness. If this situation occurs, the vehicle diagnostic system will detect the situation, the Air-Bag light will be illuminated in the instrument cluster, and Diagnostic Trouble code 9103 or 9123 will be stored in your vehicle's air-bag system memory.- It is clear that my problem is under the terms of the extended warranty. - This second service advisor did not know how to twist things, - She told me that my wiring harness was the one on my side and not on the driver (referring to the steering wheel) and also the one under my seat!!!!! On 9/13/2012 I called benz usa and talk to a nice person who would not say anything to be involved , but he assured me that they would look into and somebody would call me the following day.- Brandon N ( they do not give last names for "safety reasons") called me today 9/14/2012 introducing himself as the manager of MBUSA, the boss ...and his decision had been made declining my case. - He stated that he had been reading all my file on the computer but as the "very competent and knowledgable service advisors" of the Beverly Hills branch did not write the code 9103 nor 9123, I was not eligeble for any extended warranty. As of today, september 14/2012, I am still driving with the SRS light on jeopardizing not only my safety but also the safety of other people. The December 2012 letter clearly stated that: If this situation occurs, the Air-Bag light will be illuminated and the Diagnostic Trouble code 9103 or 9123 will be stored in your vehicle's air-bag system memory.- But my car was sitting there, taken apart, from Tuesday till Friday afternoon and they had plenty of time to alter the air-bag memory device. - In addition, how can I go back there for any other kind of service I might need? It is my firm intention to report the case to Daimler/Mercedes headquarters.

My 2006 E350 with 64000 miles was recently diagnosed with a balance shaft problem. The dealer wants $4500 to replace. This is a well known defect that happens to many M272 engines. Mercedes knows about this defect since 2007 and has since issued 2 Technical Service Bulletins to their dealers. There are several 'balance shaft problem' social networking groups on Facebook and MBWorld to document this problem. Even the dealer agrees this is a common problem with this engine. I'm told there is a silent recall for this problem. But when I contacted MB they refuse my request for a goodwill repair. It's really a shame that Mercedes does not own up to their problem and stand behind their product. A broken engine with only 64000 miles?

My beautiful "black Cat" 1995 S500 has been diagnosed with needing a engine wire harness and an actuator. The expense is over $3,000. Mercedes Benz is well aware that in models ’91-’96 the defective insulation in all Mercedes vehicles manufactured inthosears will fail sooner or later. For more indepth information go to http://www.mercedesdefects.com/2008/04/wire-harness-defect.html and if you are as unfortunate to have a 91 - 96 year vehicle, you will be horrified. Not only because of the expense, but when you read how dangerous this defective harness to you and the public, you will be horrified and terrified. The car could catch on fire, stop in the middle of the highway, cause failures of major components in your cars engine and all at your expense. Mercedes Benze had full knowledge what they were installing and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for some unknown reason will not force Mercedes to recall the models. Please have your vehicle checked out. If you are like me and having problems that don't make sense, have your car checked at the dealership. They are also aware, but most often times will not tell you that the harness may be the root of all your problems until it is too late. Contact Mercedes, your congressman, your Attorney General, anyone who will listen and bring pressure to bear upon Mercedes and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
