macy's has the worst customer service! Won't waste my time shopping there again.

I was charged a late fee on my charge and I have never been late. I am 70 yrs old and on a fixed income. I can't afford to just give Macy's 25.00!! I want that late fee taken off my bill. I have been a "paying on time" customers for over 40 yrs. Helen Sproul, Brick, NJ 08724

i have worked for Macy's Since Dec of 09. i like working at my job. but i hate how some of the associates are treated. their is favorite-ism at my job and unfairness as well. we have at least 3 managers who don't really care about the associates. here are a few examples: around January i had a customer come in to purchase pants (2min before closing) i had a huge line behind her, anyway when i checked out the pants they didn't have a tag so i kindly told her that there was no tag on them. well she didn't take it well. she got upset and went to get another pair of pants and asked to talk to my manager. i sold her the pants and told her i was sorry( i had no reason to but i have to say sorry since that's what they told us to do) anyway i got a warning because this lady told my manager that i made her go get a pair of pants. then she had the decency to say shes a nurse and that when a patient wants water u don't make them get it(obviously shes lying because a nurse wouldn't go off and crazy over pants!!!!!) now the next one is my latest customer...yesterday. she came in with her kid to return a dress her mother didn't want anymore(simple right?) so i took her receipt and told her it will go back in the debit and if she had the card. well she went psycho and wanted cash. i explained to her that i couldn't do that because her mom payed with a debit card not with cash. she got upset and called her mom and told her to come over, after that she asked to talk to my manager. i call her she comes and reads the receipt then tells her it has to go back to the debit card. so the lady says to my manager that her mom cant come because shes out of state..(really?!!!) so my manager overrided it and gave her cash. it was ridiculous. my manager actually gave her money. i'm like whats the point of the receipt? if its not going back from when it originally came from?!! ok well last example. my Macy's store hired a new person around February. she had no experience really, she was just some waitress at some restaurant for like 2 months. only a month in they make her a watch specialist because a manager or managers knew her...it was unfair and retarded! soon after they made these other 2 girls men specialist and young men specialist....there where other people who where far more experienced that wanted that job and they didn't get it. i swear my Macy's is unfair and unjust!! their is one more thing. we have this manager named Rochelle. she is rude and cruel to associates and always watches us on the security cameras to make sure we do our work. but for some reason i think she hates me. I've never done anything to her really. but when i ask for help like call her extension and such she tells me. no not now *click* she hangs up...and she bumps in to me a lot and doesn't say excuse me or sorry. recently our store manager Tracy did talk to her but she only lasted a week being nice. i hope she gets transferred or removed from the store. i cant stand her anymore.

One star is being generous! My dearest friend has been working for Macy's for ten years and I must say I am horrified at Macy's lack of care and concern for it's long time employees! The newly implemented "my schedule plus" and "points system" seems to be a devised plan to rid it's stores of hard working Americans! If your sick or late and you have legitimate proof of either, you still receive "points" which are grounds for termination. My friend has been in the retail business for over thirty five years, and year after year Macy's continues to hire inexperienced, disrespectful part-time youth that thinks that texting while working is part of there job description. When I think of Macy's I think of "A Miracle on 34th Street" and "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade". Not anymore! Instead of Macy's having role playing seminars, they should use that money to give their hard working employees better raises and not the minuscule amount they continuously try and pass off as acceptable. It really is unbearable to hear someone you know work as hard as they do, to be treated by what you thought was a reputable establishment like a number. Shame on you Macy's! Macy's has just turned out to be just like the rest: Corporate money hungry no-named, no-faced, minions of the up's and down's of the stock market and never going out and shaking the hands and compensating those who really keep your company going.

OK, here we go. Wake up Macy's Corporate your stores are going down the toilet!!! No staff ever visible, you can walk around and around and you can't find anyone to help you. I recently went to purchase a gift for a Bridal Shower and couldn't find anyone to help in the registry area. Not only that Macy's has become so CHEAP, not having daily permanent workers on staff that no-one knows the merchandise. The dressing rooms are packed with clothes hanging all over the place that you can't put a hanger anywhere. I feel very sorry for the temp workers that work for Macy's most of them hardly get any training and are left to fend for themselves. They get no direction and shit for wages. I can remember a time when Macy's was the premier place to shop, if you didn't find it at Macy's you couldn't find it anywhere else, their employees were knowledgeable and liked working for Macy's. Now listen up you fat pigs at the top of Macy's Corporate, get off you asses, try to use what little brains that you have a get your stores back up a running smoothly. Make a contribution to the area your stores are in and HIRE SOME PEOPLE!!! You can be assured that I will follow up with letters to the Corporate Office. I am truly disgusted with the whole affair!

I have worked for Macys for over 3 years. Everytime I talk with HR or the Merchandiser Manager, my hours get cut. This year alone I have not been scheduled 2 out of the 4 months. I cannot get ahold of HR, at this point they feed me the same lines- that they don't know my hours, and that I am not a team player. Seriously, how many times do I have to tell them the same information, only not to be scheduled? This store is going to go out of business because they don't know how to manage their employees, muchless treat them like human beings.

I have worked at Macys for a few years and find it's getting increasing hard to get a schedule that works for me and lot of other part-time employees. We now have a new system "My Schedule Plus", employees are supposed to put in the times they are available to work, once that is done Macys "will make every effort" to honor those times. Well the new schedules are out and there a lot of mistakes. They have people who can only work nights (have been for years) scheduled for daytime hours and vise versa. Full time people with part time hours. We have been told Management can not make any changes to the schedules, so we have employees losing hours and possibly their jobs because of this. If you are a part time employee there aren't many other people you can switch with to make it work out for all concerned. If you are thinking about working for this company, please think again, and again and again! This is not the company to work for especially if you have children or are trying to go to school and work (to pay for school). There has to be a retailer that values it employess and does make every effort to work with them.....I'll keep looking and you should also.

You think that is bad, my daughter who appears to look white, but she is really African American tells me about meeting in the board room with her store manager in Chicago Water Tower store. She comes home tired and mentally wasted because of the thing her Store Manager: Jennifer Williams does. Macy's is suppose to be a family store, but the employee's, especially the african american ones, are treated badly. My daughter told me that this woman is trying to push all the black managers out of the store and replace them with anyone else. "She calls them lazy and unproductive." This conversation took place recently during a manager meeting she and four other had at the Macy's Water tower store in Chicago. She recorded the racist commons by her store Manager on her cell phone. I HOPE SOMEONE REPORTS THIS TO THE MEDIA BECAUSE this is a serious ACLU compliant against this company.

I know that Macy's doesn't send customers statements on time just to charge a late fee. Time to ACT. Remember when they did that with home buyers and are now bagged by doing the wrong thing? The customers that got foreclosed on after servicers were "not being able to find their paperwork" or, "the homeower never submitted their paperwork" which was a bunch of lies on the mortgage servicers? Well, Macy's has to watch themselves or the same is going to happen. Don't lie to your customers who shop in your stores...or go to your parade! Too many blogs and FB that can kill a good company from avid followers and shoppers. STOP treating the customers like they are simple minded and useless. That's why you all have jobs at Macy's because of customers...duh!! Send the bills to the customers on time and STOP charging late fees to accomodate your shrinking selling power.

I bought something during November Thanksgiving and due to the holidays forgot to make my payments and Macys didnt send me the statements too until after Jan. As soon as I received my statement in jan, I made my payment immediately in full. Since then, I have been trying to call the help desk and trying to get the late fee off, but in vain. This is the first time that I have made a late payment and have paid the finance charges for being 37 days late and am requesting them to waive the late fee but no one is obliging. It seems like 'Delighting the customer' is not their goal but fleecing the customers trying to make money out of the late fee seems to be their goal. I checked with a few friends of mine, and this seems to be the tactics of Macy's not to send statements for two months until the account starts collecting the late fee. Now, my account after having paid the finance charge and full amount of purhcase has collected a late fee after late fee amounting to $100/-! Shame on you Macy's! With this attitude, I do not see you making it big! I will never ever step into Macy's again!!

I am so tired of ugly clothes, not even ugly but cheap looking and cheap fabric and they cost a lot. Macy's makes clothes for old women. They're website is never updated, I'm trying to put some shoes to the basket and they are out of stock, I'm putting another one... and they are out of stock!!!! and this happens with another 100 pieces!!! Start selling hot clothing not some ugly sh... I watched Fashion Star the other day and I saw the pieces that Macy's representative was buying... well now I am not in shock anymore that Macy's has absolutely no taste!! Oh! one more think... it is 21st century and 2012 year Macy's! not 60's nor 70's

I've BEEN OVER AND OVER THIS SO MANY TIMES. This is in Reference to "YOUR Advertisement " HOT LIST SALE" Page 21. On this Page are "3" Dresses. On the Left is a Jessica Simpson OFF the One Shoulder Bold Colored Dress , in the Middle is a Black Dress with a white Belt, and the ONE I WANT IS THE EVAN PICONE RED DRESS WITH A V-NECK, A RUFFLE STARTS UNDER THE BUSTLINE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE HEMLINE, WITH A LITTLE (CAP?) SLEEVE IT'S NOT SLEEVELESS." I've been TRYING FOR "THREE DAYS" SPENDING OVER THREE AND A HALF HOURS, LONG DISTANCE, TRYING TO FIND THIS DRESS THAT YOU HAVE """ADVERTISED"" I've tried "FOUR" Stores here in CA, and the last ONE in AZ. NO ONE CAN FIND THIS DRESS. YOUR PERSONNEL, MANAGERS (2) AND MYSELF EVEN WENT ON YOUR WEBSITE, UNDER YOUR "HOT LIST SALE, FOUND THE ADVERTISEMENT AND ""DRESS,"" CAN'T ORDER IT,lOOKED UNDER EVAN PICONE, RED DRESSES, " WHERE IS THIS DRESS???" CAN'T FIND IT IN YOUR STORES OR ON LINE!!!! " ISN'T THIS CALLED ""FALSE ADVERTISING??"" DO HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU. THANK YOU

Sick is the only thing I could think of when Macy's comes to mind. They ARE a bunch of self-righteous, greedy, uncompassionate, unfair folks who care NOTHING about quality of merchandise, customer service, employee treatment. All they care about is their numbers (stock market, sales, corporate paychecks, least amount of employee pay possible - India.....) I have read SO MANY stories of injustice to people that have been employed for YEARS (retirement coming too soon? oooops better fire you for farting in the store) I've got a personal story too which makes me SICK. I'm really disappointed and disqusted with Macy's - I THOUGHT they were better than this! Mr. Macy is rolling over in his grave.....NEVER, EVER WILL I SPEND ANY OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY THERE - MY FAMILY WON'T EITHER BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE TRUTH TOO!!! Hope your stocks keep falling there Macy's.....even Fashion Star won't help you..................

For all of you guys that think that Macy's in misleading or they are rip offs, etc....Learn to get used to reading the prints on coupons! I love Macy's and have been shopping here for years. Although there are some bad employees, but there are more great employees who are so helpful, than bad! and All companies have bad employees- no company is perfect. Did you guys know that Dillard's has NO coupons? and JCPenny has also stopped it too, so you guys should be happy with what you get. When shopping, one must have patience! The lady with the gold chain- Sorry that happened to you, but it's not fair for you to give one star to Macy's from one incident that happened to you over the 40 years you have been buying gold from them. Gold is not cheap nowadays, and you should have bought insurance. That said- Macy's has the best return policy from any other company!! It used to be 6 months... WOW, 6 months!!! And now it's ONE YEAR TO RETURN!! WOW!!! What other clothing company gives you that??? and they also return without tags on the merchandise. Say you bought a pair of jeans and ripped off the tags and then realized the jeans aren't for you, but you still have the receipt- they will still take it back with no hassle!! You guys need to appreciate all the goodies you get, is it not enough for you guys??? Go try returning something to Dillard's after 6 months or maybe even after a year and see what rejection you get. Or better yet- go shop at Nordstorm and see what the customer service is like- you will be licking Macy's to the core after your experience there!

My husband went to buy shoes at Macys at West County Mall in St.Louis, MO. When he asked the white sales associate for his size the sales associate told him they didn't have his size. Yet when a white guy asked for the same exact shoe from the same associate, magically he had it.......i will be calling or writing a letter to Macys Corporate office.

I recently purchased Tropical Honey swimwear. The first time I wore it the hem came out. The first time I washed it the entire lining in the cup ripped out and the cup pad fell out. So much for the quality control of American companies.

Actually, less than 1 star; let's make it a -10 star. Bought over $3,000 worth of furniture and the experience has given both me & my husband ulcers. DO NOT buy furniture from Macy's! It's all from Asia & Macy's only gives you a 3 day window to return unacceptable merchandise. We bought dining room furniture in December, 2011, and are still dealing with a table we cannot use & cannot return (according to their policies). We have reported Macy's to the BBB, although we know nothing will come of it. After months of talking with supposed 'Customer Care' personnel in India that we cannot understand, today we spoke with a customer service rep in Florida that, before he hung up on my husband, told him that, "no, you cannot return your defective furniture, but you can exchange it for an equal purchase", none of which is made in the USA, and none of which will fit in our dining room, & oh, by the way, we will not refund your money, even though we sold you a set under deceptive terms. We are not done with you yet, Macy's!!!!!

Don't ever do business with this company they are a bunch of thieves who falsely advertise

I purchased a 14KT gold rope chain from Macys on 9-8-11 for a diamond drop. I have only worn this chain maybe 20 times and when taking off one night the chain broke(not at the clasp). I went to the Macy's store and spoke with the manager, he said that he could do nothing about the chain because I did not purchase the insurance. I have been purchasing 14Kt jewelry and chains from Macy's for over 40 years, and have a necklace that I have been wearing everyday for 30 years and still holding up. I will never purchase another item from Macys' again.

My boyfriend got me a ring from macys for our anniversary. a year later one of the diamonds fell of my ring. i went to get it fixed, knowing I was going to have to pay for the replacement diamond. I waited 2 weeks when i finally got my ring they told me they could not fix it. I was very dissappointed because how hard is it to put a diamond back on a ring? i am not buying jewelry there again because even if something happens to it they cant fix it.
