If you have a financial enrmgeecy, but have bad credit history, no credit, a recent bankruptcy or foreclosure, a fast cash loan company may be the temporary solution to your problems. Payday loan companies will usually not check your credit. So, Bad Credit No Problem!

M&T Bank is my mortgage servicer. I have been trying to get a loan modification and it is like pulling teeth. They don't respond to any emails or voicemail messages and they are unprofessional. They have the worst mortgage department ever and I have submitted complaints to several Fed. Gov't agencies for assistance.

I wish I could put no stars because that is what you deserve. The peoples horror stories that I have read sound eerily familiar. Being a customer at M&T for over 5 years almost put me into financial ruin and has caused much stress on my marriage. My husband thought the banking errors were my fault. When I told him about what the bank was doing, he found it hard to believe. We would direct deposit his paychecks bi weekly to find anywhere from $300-$600 had been missing for overdrafts and bank fees. The overdrafts were never over $10 purchases! We also had a business account with them. They had the audacity to move my money from one account to the other without authorization. When I called the bank to ask them if this was a legal procedure, they told me that it was, as long as the accounts were held at the same bank. They removed money from are personal account to our business account, not to cover a check, but to pay for some outrageous business fee they claimed we owed! By doing so they caused my personal account to overdraw itself, which made my mortgage check bounce and then caused a snowball effect. Then this atrocity of a bank had the nerve to charge me fees for the returned checks! This pushed me over the edge and as a result caused me to close both accounts. I will never bank with them, or ever recommend anyone else to either. Obviously, (as you can see by the previous posts) they have a record of screwing over their clientel. They take from the hardworking people of the community, and basically rob them.....leaving most people financially destitute! My experience happened two years ago. Shockingly, I recieved a letter from them the other day stating that they had reviewed my previous account and they admitted to owing me a refund for fees incurred during a three month period. I know M&T did not do this out of the kindness of their heart! Has anyone else out there recieved this letter? And what made them send this? A class action lawsuit? A government audit? Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, as it's a minute fraction of what was actually taken from me over the five years I was a loyal customer....

Someone wrote me a check for $100 on their M&T account. I stopped by an M&T branch to cash the check and they told me they would charge a $10 fee because I didn't have an account with them. The check was on an M&T account! This is outrageous.

Had another bank refinance my loan and sent MT their check for over $60,000 and they cashed it know problem, then turned around and said I owed for another payment before they would close the account. I received a letter yesterday from mt stating account closed and paid in full. When I contacted them about it they are insisting I pay for one more payment then it will be closed out on their end. My credit union called them and we set up three way calling and they were told by the new bank taking over our account they have never heard of a bak treating their customers so badly and are filing a complaint towards them as well as the check they sent had instructions not to cash unless everything was in place. Please don't waste your time banking with M&T Bank they treat the customer poorly and very hard to find the right person to talk with as well, nothing but a run around operation.

JOKE NOW AND WE ARE ALL F...... PISSED.....ITS BUSH LEAGUE TACTICS LIKE THIS THAT ADDS TO THEIR GREEDY ATTRIBUTES. I WILL BE OUT OF THIS JOKE OF A BUSINESS ALONG WITH 5 OTHER FRIENDS OF MINE..$12.50, FOR WHAT, SO YOU ALL CAN ENJOY A LUNCH....WELL SHOVE YOUR LUCHES UP YOUR FUCKING ASSES!!!

I would highly recommend all who venture here to go to their respective state banking commission's website and file a complaint. It is easy and the only way this will stop. I too have had it, today being the final straw. I could go on with the details of my issues with M&T but I will instead focus on my online submission to the NYS Banking Commission's website - consumer complaint. It is extremely draining what we all have expereinced and again would ask to channel our complaints to an agency that can and will investigate. Good luck to all!

I was with WT/Direct which was bought out by M & T. I tried to transfer some money today and found out I could not do it unless I got an ATM or Debit Card. It's my money and I can't use it. This is some amateur hour operation. They get all sort of personal identifying information and then use coercion to force the customer to get their products. Jesse James would be proud of this operation.

I first opened my account at the M&T Bank in Liverpool –at 203 Cypress Street– when it was Merchants Bank. I believe I’ve had the account for 40 years. I have had two recent unpleasant experiences, and I would like to at least make you aware of them. I moved house at the end of this past March. I borrowed some money from a family member because the movers charged a bit more than anticipated. When I went to the M&T branch at 203 Cypress Street, the manager would not let me cash a check made out to me for $250 dollars. I have a checking account there. I have a bank card there. I do NOT have a driver’s license, simply because I do not drive. Things got a little heated and I left there. The M&T bank near my place of employment cashed the check, two days later, with the same identification I’d tried to use at the branch at 203 Cypress Street. When I needed a cashier’s check for the first month’s rent at my new apartment, the manager at the Rt. 57 branch of M&T bank checked my check book, and my bank card, and said ‘Fine’ and issued me the cashier’s check. I obtained a Sheriff’s ID because, as I said, I do not have a driver’s license and I obviously needed something other than my work ID. In order to obtain a Sheriff’s ID I had to show my birth certificate, my social security card and a copy of a utility bill with my new address on it. Last week I went to the M&T Branch at 203 Cypress Street again, to cash in a savings bond. I presented the bond, my Sheriff’s ID and my work ID. I also showed the teller my bank card and my checkbook. She called the manager over, and once again I was refused. It’s worth mentioning here that after I left that branch of your bank, I walked around the corner to Seneca Federal and they cashed the savings bond for me, with the ID that M&T would take. And I do not have an account there. Leaving your institution would be a hassle but I am considering it. I live in Liverpool, I have most of my life. And, as I say, I’ve had an account at that bank long before it was M&T. To expect someone who does not driver to show some kind of ID associated with the Motor Vehicle department is counter intuitive. Your ad says ‘we understand what’s important to you. I don’t think you do, and I am quite upset. That many years are a long time to deal with a financial institution that refuses to do business with me.

Not sure how or what she did, but she said it was easy. 301-305-3133

I'm rating this email a 1 star @ this time because I am sooooooo not happy with the tactics & stategies in M&T trying to make the extra buck from your customers.I just went to the bank because it a last minute cash withdrawal that I needed out so happily went inside asked for a withdrawal slip only to find out in utter disbelievement, that there is a $1.50 charge for a withdrawal slip!!?? FOR REAL!!?? Omg, I've never been charged nor has anyone that I discussed this with has ever heard of such absurdity. It's pretty reduntant & annoying to be asked EACH TIME with NO exaggeration,if I have my atm card or check book because I could therefore just write one for cash (in which case i do feel that I am bothering & inconviencing your employees for asking them to do something they were hired to do in first place. Is this bank in such a finacial crunch that being charged a $1.50 for a slip of paper is going to make up for the loss? I am very very dissapointed in how the treatment & extra fees for something that we deserve.I am on the fence as far as my feelings are,as of now on this bank.At first, I did like this bank & felt comfortable with it,but now things have changed.I know that this memo will not make a difference to you & you'll write it off as a disgruntle, cheap customer who doesn't want to fork out any extras, maybe maybe not ,but you really need toi listen to the"cheap" customers who are upset for having ot pay for withdrawal slips or anything else you want to charge for in the future because WE'RE the ones who do for you more than you do for us. Sincerely, Jessica A.Fales

They totally suck after being a customer for 7 yrs. I had recently moved to nc where they did not have any branches and my magnet card had gone. I called the bank and they said they wouldn't send me anything till I first change my address and two wait 15 biz days outragous never again will I bank with them. Closing my account thanks Devin and Jenna(un helpful supervisors)

Glad I am connected with our credit union and not M&T! I have heard and read horror story after horror story. Sorry all of you for your troubles. As far as rude bank tellers and the like, they should all be "frapped!!!" Really, some people have no cooth and just do not care how they treat other people, very telling of their bringing up by their parents, or lack thereof. I however do not take that kind of crap and very easily subject myself to telling someone to their face how rude they really are, but not that they care - it just makes me feel good to say it! Cheers!

I have had a mostg amazing encounter with M&t bank. If nothing else it can be good entertainmnet for the rest of you. I moved to Md from Fla. and chose the closest bank to my home. Never do that, go online and see what the reviews are. I am fine with any law, so long as there is disclosure, real disclosure. Not fine print found in books written in leagize and taking 2 hours to review /read. We all know that if we have someone on our bank account, we better trust them because they can empty the account and steal our money. So we are careful whom we let onto our bank accounts. Did you know however, that you need to watch out in case your own bank steals thousands of dollars of your money out of you raccount without notice/ We all know the iRS can do this, with notice, even they are polite, but M7t will walk up, steal thousands and laugh at you. I had my money in an account, the other person on my account had a 2 yr old debt, that was the result of co signing on somehthing, and at some pont the other person died...long story, and irrelevent......the point is that m&T came in and took MY money (not her money) with no notice (2900.00)... a week after I opened my new account. Does M&T 1. not care that the person they took the money from never owed the debt? 2. do they not think that innocent bystanders deserve to know with 'full verbal disclosure' that they can have their money stolen under such strange circumstance? It is NO mistake that M&T doesn't disclose in a way that actually 'discloses'. If they did communicate fully, they would'nt be able to 'sneak' around to take innocent parties funds to pay the debts of others. That is their hope and intent, to get what they can however they can, Certainly no 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' here. Even the IRS is more decent in practice.

Someone had written me a check drawn on M&T Bank for $70.00. When I went to cash it, I was told the account had insufficient funds. After checking often, the funds were finally available last Friday. When I went to M&T Bank to cah the check, I was asked if I had an account at M&T Bank. When I told the teller that I did not have an account at M&T Bank, I was told that there would be a $10.00 check cashing fee to cash a $70 check drawn on M&T Bank. After expressing my displeasure about the absurd fee, the manager informed me that I should open an account at M&T Bank and avoid the fee. After reluctantly agreeing to open an account to avoid the ridiculous $10.00 check cashing fee, I was told that if I closed the account within 6 months or had inactivity in the account for 6 months, than there would be a $50.00 penalty. I refused to open an account there, and would never want to do business with M&T Bank. A check cashing store or K Mart, both would have charged $3.00 to cash a $70.00 check, and they are taking a risk as thie ceck was not dran on them , but M&T Bank. As the owner of (3) retail businesses, I think that M&T Bank needs to learn something about customer swervice.

I was a Wilmington Trust customer for over 25 years and since M&T has taken over the Delaware operations formerly run by Wilmington Trust, my balances are never up to date. Deposits are held (including direct paycheck deposits) and charges don't go through for up to five days after they have been paid by me. The straw that broke the camel's back happened yesterday when I made a large deposit to my account. I was advised that the check would take up to three business days to clear and I was OK with that, however, I found out later in the day when I couldn't even pay for a $3.00 book on Amazon that my account was overdrawn! I had almost $2,000 in my account before I made my deposit but that money was no longer available because someone at the bank had accidentally withdrawn the full amount of the deposit and even though they had added it back in, the computer saw it as a $15,000 withdraw and created a deficit in my account of a -$13,000 and my account was basically frozen. I had checks go through that were returned. Upon seeing this I went to a branch to have it fixed and even though the representive was very courteous and tried to do everything he could think of to rectify it, he said the computer couldn't be changed to correct the available balance so that I at least had the money I had in there before the deposit. So I'm left just waiting until that check clears without any access to my money and hoping nothing else goes through in the meantime. I'll be leaving M&T by the end of next week after a new account is established with another bank. Good riddens M&T!

On Dec 21, 2011, I submitted a company deposit for $2,168.25: cash/checks/coin at the M&T Bank/Guilderland NY branch. However, when I returned to the office and examined the receipt, the amount was $649.50 short of the actual deposit. Believing the teller made a mistake I called and was astonished when told, the staff doesn't have time to add up any number of checks that exceed 10. The bank mgr Keith Atlas concurred - saying that the wrong receipts are given out in good faith. In a letter he sent to me he said: "our staff do not physically add up all the items; they verify the cash being deposited and our back office double-checks the addition of all items." He further said, this was common banking practice. A receipt must be a legal instrument of money exchanged and it had better be correct. This is the second "wrong receipt" incident we've had with this bank; we will be registering a formal complaint with the NYS Attorney General's Office.
