| I am sorry, It is rather frightening to know that the Hand and Stone Corporation continues to allow and to perpetuate Mitchell Sands present employment, as a Franchise owner. He is one of the most underhanded individuals, I have ever had the displeasure to meet, in the Mays Landing Area. Plus, he has another Franshise in Turnersville, NJ which will be the target of another Mitchell Sands Scam! He has so many negative reviews, maybe everyone should finally get together and write a letter to Corporate or a Petition to oust this unstable individual out of this Company. I know from other individuals in the past that knew Mitchell from his last employment, that he ran the Company into the ground, as he is doing at Hand and Stone. The Labor Board should be aware of what is going on. I truly believe that Mitchell Sands is embezzeling monies from the Therapists and Esteticians. It is so obvious!!!! He thrives on new, inexperienced, naive, employees on a regular basis as they turnover, arrive and leave continually over weeks. He thrives on their innocence, pays them with giving them each an unclear idea of what they are being paid, and when they discover that they have been short changed, he tells them he will give them a check for the remaining amount owed and usually you have to wait 2 weeks again before you receive the "missing" money. Too many individuals over the last few months have had money missing from their paychecks, sometimes as much as $400.00!!!!! Wouldn't you think that Corporate would wake up and realize that maybe they have a criminal working for them??? Bringing down the company name????, etc.....I was informed that he was being investigated at this point in time. I hope so....because, if all of these matters are not straightened out, I know that there is going to be some kind of revolution amongst individuals who have worked there in the past and individuals who are working there now. It is really a shame, because there are alot of wonderful people working for this company who have quit, walked out or have been unfairly fired by Mitchel Sands who were terrific, loyal, compassionate employees....Many sad losses to Hand and Stone which will continue, perpetually, if nothing is done.....I can't believe that all of this has been going on for so long..........this is not the only unethical illegal matter that is going on in this company...I could write for hours.....I am keeping my fingers crossed. It would be nice to have an integrous boss! Unless, politically, the Hand and Stone Corporation knows that he is unintegrous and in a catch 22, maybe Mitchell Sands has something on them....I hope not! |

The most crooked, unethical and disrespectful boss anyone can imagine runs the Hand and Stone in Mays Landing.
He hires women to manage the place and do his dirty job. He abuses his employees in a daily basics.
You do a stone massage that pays $20 and he pays you $15, day after day and week after week, with some 25 or 30 employees he steals the employees very hard earned money.
He harass and cheats the employees every dollar and penny he can. No one has ever move to tier 2.
He tries to deduct the missing laundry from the employees salary. A couple robes went missing in the spa and he wants his manager to pay for them. The manager quit the job because she couldn't make any more excuses for the way he abuses the people.
He refuses to buy garbage bags and brings used shoprite bags from home to use in the rooms.
He makes the employees count everyday the stones in fear the clients are going to steal them. If he could he will run the spa with a whip on his hand.
If this spa in open in a year it will be a miracle.
Something very wrong is going on in that place. |

| The corporate office of hand and stone needs to investigate mitchell sands.....he has no clue how to run a spa and is making the company look REALLY BAD....he gets in the employees faces and belittles them on a daily basis...if u request a therapist u may not get them because he said so.... he says there hand and stone clients not therapist clients...but fails to realize that clients that request come back because they like that therapist...employees pay checks r short every pay period...not just by a little either...some have been short an entire week at times and some by a hundred bucks...and then u have to wait 2 more weeks to get ur hard earned BILL paying money...hopefully B4 your bills r do...its very sad there r very good estiticians and therapists that work there but very poor management...o and beware if ur therapist is running behind on a busy day u may pay for a full service and be shorted time...that happens all the time...pay for 50 minutes and only receive 30 minutes...the turnover rate there for n e position is high...most employees only last a few months...so dont get attached to someone u like because they will b gone soon after...he is jeopardizing employees license and certs to make a buck... |

Mitchell is a poor business man with very unprofessional customer service skills. WARNING!!!! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP. Trying to cancel the membership is extremely difficult, even within 24 hours of signing. Mitchell needs to be fired. I was a customer who he treated over the telephone very abusively. Nobody responded to my telephone calls for 3 days. Mitchell then gets on the telephone to belittle me. Had to cancel my card because I have seen reviews where he says he cancels and doesnt. He needs to be fired and replaced in order for this business to thrive. I feel sorry for his employees. If this is the way he treats customers, I can only imagine how he treats his staff!!!! Verbally condescending.
I'd rather put mud on my face than go back to that place. |

| The owner of the Hand and Stone in Mays Landing, Mitchell Sands, treats his employees like the second hand thrift store...he just fired one of his massage therapaist just because she could not stay after her scheduled hours to do a massage. This is so wrong and unethical! He can not keep his employers to stay and he has a notice in his Mays Landing location saying that he will give someone a $50 dollars reward if this someone will referred a person to work for him and this new employee will stay more than 90 days!!! He is informing his full time employees a day before their day of work that they are on-call status for now without any explanation or any reason. His words are "is good to be on call" and he hangs up on them. I truly belive he is violating an New Jersye Employment Laws, and thinking that if he "owns" a "McDonald Spa" he can do whatever he can. I am sorry, but he is very wrong and someone should teach him how to run a SPA , not a car dealership!! |

I am an employee at Hand and Stone in Mays Landing and I have to be honest and express my feelings. The owner of this location is unbelievable to work for. He is threatening his employees to terminate them if they do not sale one product per each facial. Meaning that we MUST sale one product to each client and if we do not, we will be terminated. I do not think this is a legal move, because it is not in our power to make a client to buy a face cream for example, for $60.00. Our job is to recommend a product, show the product, educate a client how to use it or what a product will do to their skin, but at the end its only a client's decision whether or not they will make a purchase. This a copy of an e-mail every esthetician received from the owner, Mich Sand send out...
"Effective immediately, it is now Hand & Stone policy that you must sell, on average, 1 product per service. For example, one service you may sell 3 items and the next service sell none. If you do 50 facials per month, you must sell 50 products. Additionally, if you do not reach your quota in the first 30 days, you will be put on probation. If you do not reach your quota after 60 days, you will be terminated." My question is is this a corporate rule/policy? Or is this legally legal to threat employees like that?

| You need to check the laws. It is illegal to massage minors in nj with out parents or le gal gardian signature. 12 13 14 15 year old girls should not be walking in alone and getting massaged. And when a massage therapist says somethint to the owner mitch sands about it we shouldn't be told to just go massage. It is also illegal to open any mail not addressed to you weather you are still or were some one's boss. And you can not with hold some ones pay check from being directly deposited. Making their account bounce and making them pay late fees untill they hand in their shirt or manuel unless you have them sign something when you give them their shirt and manuel. Also nj law states you either make comission or min wage what ever adds up to be more so on a day where there are 0 massages you still get min wage. Maybe you should teach your spa owners mitch sands the law before allowing them to open and run spas in your name and making you look badl yay mays landing |
