My wife and I are long time "loyal customers" at the downtown Puyallup, WA Fred Meyer Store. Other than the employees fantasizing that they are cops and wasting the company's money following us around, we like the Fred Meyer store--a lot. But their security practices are harassing, intimidating and intrusive--particularly at this store in downtown Puyallup. We don't have this problem in the Sumner, WA store. We spend $7000 to $10000 dollars per year at the Puyallup and Sumner stores, and they seem to delight in following us around. They sometimes act as if they are trying to help us, even when we say "no thanks" or when it is obvious they have targeted us for shop-lifter monitoring. It's both despicable and funny. We would give this store 5 stars except for this insulting practice. Several times they have come so close to legally definable stalking that we have confronted the clerks by telling them we know what they are doing. The clerks do not deny they are stalking us for some imagined act. When confronted, they skulk away nearby and watch us read labels our of the corner of their eye--not kidding--particularly in your electronics and DVD sections--but not just there. Sorry, but I wear a big black coat with big pockets and the pockets are full of thousands of dollars worth of MY STUFF. After about 20 years of shopping at the same Fred Meyer you'd think they'd get it and start to be friendly, but they are--fake friendly and hyper-vigilant instead. Again I say, we spend thousands of dollars there and we like the store--except for the fake-friendly, hyper-vigilant, wanna-be-cop-instead-of-a-clerk-losers. I dealt with this problem at another large store(larger than Kroger)where they tried to pull a fast one on me by not demagnetizing some things I bought even when I asked them to do so AFTER I paid for them. The manager of this other store settled out of court with me, apologized profusely, and I got all the merchandise for free (The manager gave it to me with his apology). I'm forgiving though since I still shop there--at least they don't follow us around anymore at that store (hint, W-mart) Honestly, we think you corporate girls and boys could make some more money with an idea like this: e.g. "Hey, we have these loyal customer numbers we use for rewards points, lets pick a few of them every day, and get to know those people personally. Maybe we could thank them for shopping and spending thousands of dollars at our store. We could make it a policy or a program where every so many times a "loyal customer" checks out at the stand, we'd have a manager or some other nice clerk thank us and tell us they appreciate the over $100,000 dollars we have probably spent there in the past 20 or so years." This idea might make Fred Meyer a lot more friends than the jeering quirky look we got from the manager who had followed us around today. Honestly, my wife and I do divert thousands of dollars of our money from your stores to your competitors like W-mart and S-way when we get tired of the stalking we receive at your store. Whatever time is wasted following your "Loyal Customers" is a great way to make sure that shop-lifters are not being watched. Well, I've been honest. You know who we are. We feel intruded upon. Happy New Year. ...... Greg & Patti... long time loyal customers and pillars of the Puyallup community for over 40 years.

Just visited a Fred Meyer where I always shopped. A store where I loved to shop. Today I was disgusted by the attire of the clerks. They used to all look well groomed. The three clerks that waited on us looked like prostitutes. Bra straps showing tops of breasts showing tattoos of snakes piercings in nose lips rastafarian hair. Seriously thought I was in a head shop.at least Walmart has a symbolace of a dress code. I will be shopping there. Lost your class.

I have been recently fired from Fred Meyers on Bakerview in Bellingham Wa. I had worked there for close to 10 years and was one of the best checkers and had quit the following of customers. Heres what "really" happened. An elderly customer had forgotten her rewards card so I decided to hold onto it until I saw her again. In the meantime I thought I would use it on others peoples orders when they didnt have a card or didnt want one. I did ask permission 95% of the time however it is against policy that I was unaware of. Fred Meyers is always changing policy without thinking that the employees need to know about it. So if any of you reading this knows me and is as pissed off as I am please MAIL in a customers comment card stating your disappointment and you want me back. If you dont mail it in it will never get to corporate because FM will weed through the comment cards and only send the good ones. True story So please I am trying to reach out to my customers that know me and want me back. Basically I got fired because they said it was a loss to the company. Theft in other words and by no means an I a thief. Thank you for reading this and thank you for sending in a comment card.

Renton Benson Plaza Fred Meyer: The pharmacy there has always had problems in the last 7 years I have had to deal with them. Today, I went in and asked the pharmacist for Aleve Cold and Flue or Sinus. He proceeded to get something from behind the counter and had me fill out the form. So far, so good. When I got home, I found that he had substituted Advil Cold & Sinu which has Potassium in it. Well, first, I did not received what I asked for, and second, it had potassium which my doctor is strictly monitoring. Had he just looked at my file, he would have known that I am on prescription potassium and that this product would not be good for me. It was nice of him to throw it in a bag before I could see it. Now, I have to go back to exchange it. Not good for someone like me who is disabled. Also, be sure you pill count is correct before you leave. They often times get too many or too few pills in the bottle. I make them count out the pills in front of me now.

To Carol Harris, I hope you see and read this. It seems, at least in WA, that as of Feb 2011, all Fred Meyer Stores are exactly as you have described, if not worse. I was an employee at the Auburn store, in the deli. I have found that when some people are hungry, they can be hostile, I usually would recieve the blunt of complaints, as mst of my co-workers were younger and would spend most of the time in the corner talking while I did most of the work. Then they would slander my name, and defile my character. Eventually the store "director" started having me up to her office, instead of me seeing the food manager. However either way when a customer or an employee said that I had done something, I was always wrong, they never listenned to me. One of my co-workers was a young high school dropout, and would make up random stuff about me. There was terrible things going on at that store.

Fred Meyer is running the other businesses out of the Kittitas Valley. Mismanagement is the first thing I am writing about. The staff hates working, they are too concerned about how they look. I am getting tired of them not helping customers. DVDs and car magazines are promoting pornographic images these are not being tolerated by the Customers. Customers are always right. Always Believed and Always have the Advantage of the Doubt. We are not low lifes or pieces of garbage. We are human beings who don't need hostility from lazy Employees who don't like being wrong by behaving the same way. Lazy especially while Customers are shopping, Yelling and degrading made to feel horrible. Humiliating Customers by the staff. Uh! Really Inappropriate disgusting. Nobody is nice to us. Some of the stores are not wheelchair accessible. That's frustrating me.

Beware when children are left in playland, go around to the side door, the emergency exit, and 9 times out of 10 it is either blocked by someones cart, or simply the big cart that the parcels use for cleaning the bathroom etc. I was in Salem, Oregon at one of their Fred Meyer stores on or near Lancaster, and I saw a big cart with cleaning supplies, and I mentioned this information to an employee and he smarted back at me that they always do that. I said it was for the safety of children in the playland, and the door behind the cart was a fire exit. NO one could get out in case of an emergency. So next time any parents want to use a playland, be ware that you are placing your child in a unsafe area!

I WORKED AT THE FLORENCE FRED MEYERS. WOW WHAT A EYE OPENER MY MANAGER IS SO UNDER HANDED AND CHEATS THE EMPLOYES OF A GOOD WORK ENVIRONMENT. HE ASK THEM TO DO THINGS THAT ARE VERY WRONG BUT IF YOU DO NOT DO THEM YOU GET THE WRATH OF HIM AND THAT'S WHY I DO NOT WORK THERE ANY MORE HE TOOK AWAY MY LIVELY HOOD AND NOW I AM LIVING ON THE EDGE THE STORE DIRECTOR IS JUST AS BAD I WONDER IF THAT'S A FRED MEYERS WAY. I JUST WANTED FRED MEYERS TO NO THAT YOU ARE LOOSING GOOD PEOPLE THAT WORK HARD FOR MANAGERS THAT STICK TOGETHER IN LIES AND TREATING PEOPLE LIKE DIRT.

I have been a loyal shopper for over 26 years. Never having any issue til up to 8 monthes ago. I recently had to return a few items back because they didn't work. When I couldn't find the reciept. The customer service gal said no problem just bring them in. I told her then that I had five items but could only find three. When I got their she proceeded to look up my acct their took the product and said a soon as I found the rest of them to bring them in. I asked if I could take them to the fred meyer closer to me. She said that would be fine. Day after I went to the other fred meyers close to me even though I hate going to that one my husband and I call it the getto fred meyers, cause we have had mistreatment problems their. I Walked in and they told me because I returned something the day before. They suspended me for 180 days for returning any thing. well that was humiliating. I guess I wont be going there again. After 26 years, and several hundred dollars a month and For returning less than five six items in the 26 years I've. Been shopping there. Guess im returning couple hundred in merchandise im going to return with a reciept.

Hi , I'm a loyal fred meyer. Customer , we shop at the Fred Meyer in Burien Wa ., And I have a suggestion about the Fred Meyer Gas-Station. Right outside that belongs to the Store, we have been witness of lots of arguments and fights more then 10 times at this gas station , we love the gas station and the people working there but. I do suggest and believe that Fred Meyer should hire extra employees to help and monitor this area and guideing and showing gas users who's next and I believe this will take care of this problem because its not enough with just having personell or and employee in the registered they neeed more eyes and help in this part of the store. Thanks I hope you take the time in reading this and coming up with ideas and ways to improve this issue that hopefully won't become a serious problem. Againg I want to emphezise that the employees do there best but its hard to do more when it might be a job of 2 people or more.

I'm confused just what the Oregon City Fred Meyer management is up to. "Family Values" is taking over display of merchandise??? I was at the check out stand in a line yesterday and looking at the magazine-- usual list of who is divorcing, etc.-- and then noticed a black cardboard type of paper covering a "Cosmopolitan" magazine. I couldn't believe it. I pulled it forward and it had some headline like "Sex Secrets to Drive him Wild" or some drivel like that. Okayyyyyyyyyyy....maybe someone out there would consider that title too racy for their 3 year old who can't read or even see up to that level...but then today my husband went to the store to buy this really tasty granola bar, said he walked around and around for a good 15 minutes trying to find it and lo and behold! It was stocked with the back of the packaging facing forwards. Mmmmm...something tells me that some Christian Right nut case is ordered it that way as the front has a cute artwork of the granola bar and a tasteful hemp leaf. OOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!!! For the record, Hemp is what gave this country oil to run industry, fibers to make the strongest ropes and cables for shipping besides being an ingredient in thousands of applications WITH NONE OF THE PSYCHOACTIVE PROPERTIES OF MARIJUANA. Get a grip people. Also, this is the same store where my husband and I stood at the old Kiva Coffee counter waiting to be served and the head of the deli, with several other employees working with her, proceeded to ignore us for a good 20 minutes. She took another customer who had arrived behind us, I kept quiet, and then she went ahead and took another customer who arrived after that one. She nastily said she hoped I understood that she needed to help them first. Some people sitting eating saw the whole thing and even the man who arrived afterwards complained and said we were first. She insisted in helping him. UH WHY? BECAUSE YOU ARE A RACIST PIG AND MY HUSBAND IS BLACK??? Good going Fred's. Should have sued you.

Fred Meyer used to be a nice store, now they have uncouth employees such as one Lori in East Wenatchee WA,some female managers don't have any idea what a customer is nor do they know what they're talking about ! I, do hope corporate bosses will re train their staff . I would hate to see the store going to the dogs !

US BANK SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have a Fred Meyer master card. I have had nothing but issues ever since they switched to US Bank. In fact, I have been told by US Bank employees that they do have a poor website and system. Their statements and website are poorly designed however, not for them. It is meant to be confusing so it is never clear what your balance actually is. I pay IN FULL every month so I am considered a good customer. I use this card for EVERYTHING. IF I did not get so much money back from using my Fred Meyer Rewards card I would NEVER deal with US Bank. In fact, the problems I have with US Bank as the card changes AGAIN are really not worth the $100+ I get back every quarter. Which means I use their card a lot and NEVER have a balance each month. So what's one good paying customer when they can have everyone else who is behind. I guess I am not really that good b/c they don't make interest on me. All the other credit cards I have had...American Express, Alaska Airline all were excellent and user friendly.

Today, at the Fred Meyer on 108th ave in Renton, Washington, one of your employees chose to speed his work dolly around a corner while my daughter and I were doing our grocery shopping. This caused me to turn wildly to avoid him, and almost collided with a microwave display. When I turned to chide him for his reckless endangerment of my seven month old daughter, I found he was already down two more isles. In a big hurry evidently, and clearly too much of a hurry to apologize. When I called him an inconsiderate jackass, then he finally stopped. he turned and said "really?" I approached him, and told him quite directly, "yes, you are a jackass." " Your stupidity and inconsiderate behavior endangered my child." I then told him that I would report him to a store manager. (Like that even matters) I did so anyway, because, well, you never know, right? Still his parting remark enforced my feelings it wouldn't help. "Whatever" was his reply. And off he sped. The P.I.C. that I managed to find spent more time looking for "Tony" then he did in talking to me, but at least he made a show of trying to put it right. As we ended our shopping trip, "Tony" approached me, and mumbled something that sounded like an apology. However, as he was now standing nose to nose with me, I felt disinclined to accept an apology from him, and I told him so. I said, "Tony, it's too late." "I'm not willing to accept an apology from someone who couldn't be bothered to slow down enough to make things safe." To be honest, this isn't the first time I've had an issue with the speed these employees use when running around with these work carts. I've been rammed with them before. That was before my daughter was born though, and while I might have gotten angry with them before, placing my daughter in harms way is not what I ought to expect at a grocery store. To ANY Kroger employee: Be aware of your surroundings, going about your job quickly is fine, it's what your employer wants you to do. Do not, however, think that safety is unimportant. If you hurt someone, while doing your job, it'll be just like they used to say on mission impossible, "if you, or any of your team is caught, or killed, we will disavow any knowledge of your actions." Think about what that means...if you hurt someone, Kroger will not back you. They will drop you like a sack of fertilizer.

I was hired to work at Fred Meyer, here in Canby, Oregon. I was so thrilled, I took cashier training, and did my best to be a good employee. I got nice compliments from the customers for being such a "nice lady". But, to my shock and surprise, I was told that my job was coming to an end, without a reason why. I was never late, or missed a day of scheduled work. I was never reprimanded about anything. Well, at this point, I do not have a good attitude about Fred Meyer. They say they represent fairness, respect, and intergrity, but that was never shown toward me. Never once did a supervisor come up and say anything to me, or even let me know if I need any help with anything. The Canby store has a cold atmosphere, no caring what so ever. I threw away anything that concerns Fred Meyer;I will never use a rewards card there again. If Canby had other one-stop shopping stores, I would choose not to ever shop there again. This store is a good example what big corporations are like. Evelyn Mallari who is a HR Manger at Fred Meyer in Canby, Oregon; on facebook, she says "My life is not mine own, in everything I do, I try my hardest to walk in God's light." But with me, she did not walk in God's light. I did nothing to deserve to loose this job. I hope she is enjoying her "Glory Days" in ripping people off with unfair judgement.

My friend used to work at Fred Meyer in Medford. Another employee came in with mersa, or staff infection, and didn't finish antibiotics. The manager refused to let her go home. So my friend catches the staff infection, and after missing only a couple days of work, she comes In with a doctors note and was fired "for being sick". The manager had a personal problem with my friend and wouldnt even lay her off. Now the girl who spread the infection is still working there. Be careful everyone! You might catch a disease shopping at Fred Meyer. Or at least get screwed over.

I went shopping at the Freddy's on Market St., Salem, today. Two young ladies, one of whom had been placing items in the refrigerated section had been talking to another employee, who appeared to be on a break. I'm assuming on a break as she was only standing and chatting. She appeared have been slightly upset about something/someone and that was the basic theme of her conversation to other gal. There was a cart w/ goods on them that was being placed in the fridge . I wasn't sure if I wanted what was behind the "goods" and just looked while they chatted. I got closer and saw the item I wanted and the door handle to open the case was indeed behind the cart. So I asked the young lady who was placing items on shelf if she could reach in and get an item for me. She pulled the cart back to make room for me and was now dead silent. At the same time, I said, "ok", I guess I'll get it myself. I didn't begrudge the fact they were in front of the section I needed to get something as I didn't know exactly what brand to get so was okay to look around them. Even as I said something, did I ever feel upset that the gal pulled the cart back to let me in. What I absolutely didn't like was the fact as I began walking away w/ my shopping cart, the employee standing said, " she's got an attitude"..and continued. The other gal agreed. I could hear them even as I turned the corner. It isn't like me to agitate employees. I think it's terrible to not do more training for employees regarding manners, and keep their personnal gripes in the back room . They were already complaining before I even got there. I also shop at Safeway and Roth's. They are always gracious and always helpful and smiling. I'm sure this is part of their training. They are, I consider, very professional in all manner.

I wanted to balance my comment regarding service/employees at the Market St. Freddy's in Salem. The customer service gals are tops!

I would like to say I had a great exsperiance with a young man at the clackamas fred myers. His name was Tyler Britton I beleive. He was stocking pop at the time. He answered my questions and was very helpful to me. Even though I know he was busy he did not mind me asking questions and having him help me. He was a pleasure to deal with. I look forword to seeing him again in the future. Thanks, Carl Warren

I recently inherrited my grandmother's diamond ring. I took this ring to Fred Meyer, Roseburg to be sized. I was advised that it would be sent away and would returned in 10 days at which time it would be appraised in store. I was a bit nervous to leave the ring. When I went to pick it up, it had not been sized. I was told they could not size it until I approved of the fee. They said they had tried to call, but I received no call or voice mail. I was told when I left it at the store approx what it would cost. I agreed to that and signed a form. I found out that the jewler was going to be in the store the day I was to pick the ring up. My precious ring had been sent away for 10 days, when it could have been taken care of in the store. When I got home, my husband told be the Fred Meyer had called and offered to size my ring for free, but I would need to have back to the store within two hrs. It wasn't the cost I objected to, it was having my uninsured grandmother ring shipped to Lord knows where and then not be worked on.
