Worst customer service ever. The single most unnerving experience i've ever had with a company. They lie and EVERYTHING. They do need keep their word on even the simplest of problems. And most importantly they do not communicate internally as a company. The departments do not have an effective way to relay info and the customers suffer as a result.

After being in my home not even one month duke energy ce out and turned off the power due to the fact that someone else before me lived in the home and had cut the power back on so when I called to get it switched over in my name they gave me some bullshit run around like call back in 24hours and etc how can you tell someone some shit like this when they have kids and the heat is 100 degrees or above everyday...so then I call back and they now tells me that my bill has went from $600 to a $1,000 due to the fact that my husband owed a old bill but I tried to explain to these fucken devils that we are divorced why should I pay something of his and it doesn't have nothing to do with me but they fail to even give a damn they just want money money money so after all this still no power & a bill of $1,000 is still needed to be paid these bastards ought to be a shame of they self to put children /elderly /disabled people without power you can bet they want prosper from this GOD don't like ugly but at the same time I gotta do what I gotta do to!

My boyfriend paid my bill for me on Friday July 20, 2012 at a Marsh store that I live near. It was sent western union. The clerk didn't know the store didn't send Duke energy payments. On Monday morning, July 23rd my electricity was shut off for non payment. I called them and the service rep kept saying I had to wait 3 to 5 days for my unauthorized payment to post. I took the receipt back into Marsh. The Manager called Western union. They confirmed that Duke Energy got the payment 2 hours after being sent. He was even willing to talk to a Duke energy rep. They wouldn't talk to him and would not look for the payment. I kept asking for supervisors, It was no use my mother ended up paying a check over the phone. plus they charged me a reconnect fee. It was very uncalled for, and very stressful!I emailed a supervisor at my mom's house and it took 4 days for a reply. of course they said the payment that came through did not say it was from Western Union. Wasn't that convenient? I am going to contact everyone I can think of who will come down on Duke Energy. I have never been treated so badly by a utility company!I couldn't work for a company with such disregard for common courtesy.

Duke energy says I haven't paid a bill since 05/25/2012. Called and spoke with a rep and superviser about a missing payment. They swore I had not paid anything since 05/25/2012 in which may I made 2 payments totaling over 300.00 to them and it's now July 14,2012. Since when does duke energy let someone have power 60 days without disconnecting the person. I had to research all of my debit card payments.Spoke with a nasty rep named Jesse who refused to transfer me to a supervisor because she would not listen. Accused me of not paying any of my bills for 60 days. jesse refuse to transfer me to superviser to explain the situation. Called back a third time which the last rep said yeah do that cause I'm not transferring you. Spoke with stephanie the third time and come to find out not only are they denying me making a payment in june they did not send me an updated bill. Never received another bill after my balance was paid. Then when I get a new bill it reflects $311.45 that included money that had already been paid. I asked for a corrected bill well no I can't send a corrected bill. I asked for the corporate headquarter address Then ms stephanie gave me the correspondence address. Right stephanie. The residents of north carolina are not stupid. We know what we are paying and google tells you everything. So I have the correct corporate address. Lying, rude and disrespectful representatives!!!!!!

This just goes to show you, how little the Duke Energy Board of Directors care and screw the public when they give $44 million of rate payer money away to pay for this Crook. The severance pay for one day on the job is a disgrace, FRAUD, Total Greed by the Board of Directors who decide the pay scale Officer get. These guys are a bunch of Thieves, ruining a Company from the inside out. Rate Payers, this is your money coming out of your pockets to pay for this with Higher rates.

I got a letter three weeks ago it said may 9 is the cut off date they said somebody wrote a check out and it was no good the check was with a bank I never knew about I had one bank have had for 5 years the catch is they said the check was wrote back in march 2011 an they got it in November of 2011 .they want me to pay for the check its not mine.we called duke that what they said. I'm am disabled I got a heart monitor my wife has a c-pac that breaths for her every nite I got a letter from my doctor ( heart) they said that would NOT accept this letter until this check is paid..about the check duke could not tell me the Nome ans who signed it. they couldnt tell me anything about this check..I had too strokes and a pacemaker an I can't be in the heat...big companys ( GREED) the people from duke said to me. I'm sorry but that the way it is.. bastards that what they are.is there anyone who's not afraid to go head to head. they got more money than the government I believe.

I swear if I could rub 2 wooden sticks together to get electric services I WOULD instead of going through Duke Energy! I moved into my parents home during their separation (We'll call this House A) so their house wouldn't get foreclosed on. My step-mother never turned the lights off in her name when she moved out of "House A" and Duke allowed my husband to put lights on at "House A" in his name for us. Well, hubby moved from "House A" and called to have the services disconnected. One of our roommates then had services turned on in her name (all still under "House A"). When the roommate found her own place and moved out 3 months later, she had the services turned off in her name (still at "House A"). My sister who also lived at "House A" applied for services at here. Well, Duke Energy decided since our old roommate, husband and step-mother all left the residence owing them a bill and they couldn't get off of their @$$es to find them, they tacked EVERYONE'S bill onto our address! When they found out I lived at "House A", they also tacked on my old bill to the house (I'm not disputing this because I lived there and it was a valid debt). By the time Duke Energy got done bending us over with NO lube...we HAD to pay $1545.95 (this included bills from 3 folks that no longer stayed at this address and had their OWN SEPARATE homes now). My sister and I were LIVID to say the least but we managed to come up with the money to have air/electricity because it was the summer and about 99 degrees at 12pm...not to mention I had a 2 year old in the home and 5 months pregnant! I decided to move out of "House A" 7 months later into my own house (we'll call this "House B"). When I moved into "House B", my sister and father still remained residents of "House A". By the time I moved out, the Duke Energy bill at "House A" had gotten so high from my father and sister now being unemployed that the bill was $1400.00! Sis and Father came up with a brainiac scheme to take the power out of her name and put it in his to start over fresh with a zero balance. 1 month into my services at my new residence at "House B", I get my first bill from Duke saying my charges for the month are $92 PLUS another charge of...you guessed it...$1400 from "House A" because they couldn't find an active address for my sister!!! Needless to say I've been on the phone with Duke Energy trying to get this mess straightened out and all they can "RUDELY" offer me is "Your sister added you to the account in 2011 as a roommate (without my knowledge might I add) and you didn't remove your name as a roommate before you started services at your new address so you're responsible for this bill!" I've talked to 4 incompetent reps, 2 "I could give a shit" supervisors and a department that makes decisions about your account but never have the balls to tell you this themselves over the phone so they note your account with what they feel and have the incompetent reps relay the message! WHO DOES THAT!? WHY MUST FOLK GET STRUNG ALONG BECAUSE DUKE ENERGY IS THE ONLY POWER COMPANY IN THIS AREA?? I still haven't gotten anywhere with Duke even after my sister has called them and advised them that she is still residing in "House A" and to put her $1400 bill back at her house and remove it from my bill at "House B", their response is..."The bill is now in your father's name and we can't add the bill back to "House A" without his consent!!" ARE YOU EFFIN' KIDDING ME?!?! So you mean to tell me that I can owe you a bill, live with someone who doesn't owe you (but we're knowingly defrauding power from you by taking it out of my name and putting into theirs so we can start with a zero balance while I STILL live there), I call to tell you that I've had a change of heart and I want to do things the right way so I tell you the truth as to where I live and where you can send my bill so I can pay you BUT...you don't want my money and you want an innocent bystander with a 2 year old and 3 month old to carry my burden and be without power???!! Duke Energy you guys are world class ASSHOLES! I'm not worried about their "Reversed Robin Hood" schemes because I have an appointment with my attorney in the morning to take their asses to court! I will NOT stop until Duke Energy gives us...it's customers respect, show empathy and fire all of the losers they call employees and hire caring, customer service oriented individuals!

When I lived in a two bedroom apartment, they were trying to say my bills were $300 a month, and I was like theres no way, I talked to neighbors, and got the records for previous bills to that apartment, and they were always at most $80. So i kept bugging them, and they finally get an electrican to come look at the meter, turns out it was broken, so they replace it, and they tell me that they'll see what we use and then give us back credit. BUNCH OF BS if I ever did see any. We moved to a new place with a outstanding balance of 800 dollars, and I tried to call them every day, about the situation to try to get it resolved, and they notified me on FRIDAY that they were going to turn off my power. I have a one year old son, they can't just notify me within one business day, and not allow me to get it fixed. Well then they said that they'd give me until 4pm on monday to get it paid they made a stupid settlement and I had to end up paying them 600 dollars !! Which I don't feel obligated to pay. Needless to say, I will be taking them to court. I also had to pay a fee for it to get turned back on, in which case if they would have helped me over the months I have been trying to solve this issue, it wouldn't have been turned off anyways, these people don't care about their customers. They are rude.

I am at a loss with duke. i have contacted supervisors, agents, customer online care. I was told i had a verbal agreement on the deferred payment. i understand that. though the rep made it seem like if i did not concur that i would not have power. according to all of them they can not make any changes in the account. i am sure if i made a payment they could. i have worked utility call centers. its not like the computer locks up one particular place. and if it does, supervisors and such can override it. they gave me the name of agencies which i will end up doing b/c both of us being unemployed we get enough from our family. this is an issue of pride now. i am not going to be pushed around b/c they own all the energy. there is no other choice. i know the reps are doing their jobs but i know i always (as other employees too) worked with people b/c that way you know they will make the payment. i find something really wrong. ugh and foo.

Some of you may think I'm crazy and what I'm saying is impossible, but I have lived without power for 5 years! Duke Energy turned my power off WHILE I was trying to pay my bill...what I was sending them just wasn't enough to suit their Arogant Asses so they disconnected me. I decided then to do what-ever it took to survive without it just so I wouldn't have to give them anymore of my hard earned money..That's how bad I hate them! I have decided to have it turned back on as bad as I hate to because I need to do some remodeling, but before I do, I'm sending a letter to the Governor and the Attorney General because about a year ago, my son rented a house and went to have his power turned on and ended up paying the bastards $3,300.00 before they would turn it on! They actually dug up as many bills as they could find from family members and anyone else he had been associated with and put them all on his account! He had no choice at the time because he had a baby and an elderly person living with him and he could not afford an attorney and knew that it would take it too long to come to court anyway...So, now after a year, they have sent him yet another bill from a residence that his father lived in 2 years ago that belongs to whoever rented the place next! They actually put it in my son's name an mailed it to him! I guess they think they found a Sucker! They have caused him to loose his home because he is refusing to pay it. They told him to Fax in proof that he has not lived at that residence (which they already knew), and they would take that bill off his acct, ($936.00) so after doing that, they STILL told him he had to pay it! This is the last straw! I will get something done no matter how long it takes! We all need to pull together and everyone send a letter and any proof you have to the Gov. and Att. General, maybe we could even have some type of petition drawn up against them. I think I am going to draw a poster of how I see all the Duke Energy staff and employees...All gathered together with their green skin, red eyes and drooling ugly mouths, holding accounts in their hands choosing who they will cheat next! I swear, I think they have formed some type of CULT against us! And yes, they do give people a run-around and sit there and laugh about it and then leave in their nice automobiles and go to their nice homes and actually SLEEP! How they can do it is beyond me! They're PURE EVIL and something needs to be done NOW!

In mid-August, I made payment arrangements for my bill through October. I made the 1st payment promptly. When I logged in to my online account two weeks later, the information was not updated -- or rather it was contradictory -- my balance was 0.00 but I still owed my original bill on the original due date. I called to for assistance and spoke with an unbelievably rude person. I asked to speak to her suipervisor. That person, Carla, employee ID# 277-299, was condescending and adversarial. It turns out that I didn't have a payment arrangement for the duration originally represented to me (good thing I checked). When even a manager at Duke Energy is uprofessional and discourteous, the staff feel they can by with treating customers that way, and that says a lot about the company. Who supervises the managers?

They cashed my payment the same day that they turned off my electricity. At 9pm it was 92 in my mobile home. I have no way to feed my children now. Thank you Duke Energy. Please join me and file a complaint with action 9 news.

Duke energy is nothing but a bunch of legalized thieves that are allowed to steal hard earned money from the poor to line the riches pocket so they can have there fancy houses and cars expensive vacations well this time they have gone to far and now a lawyer will be taking over !! a bunch of Mexicans moved out of a trailer that my daughter rented to them leaving a light bill first they tried tacking on the bill to my sisters bill just because she lived next door to them in the trailer park so my sister fought them duke energy backed off but now they are doing it to my daughter and son in law just because they own the trailer instead of going after the ones responsible. Duke energy go after the person who had the lights on in there name and stop stealing from people!!! Earn your money the honest way because your rates are already outrageous you are already stealing money that way so back off and do what is right go after the right person responsible for the light bill because we are getting an attorney and suing the fancy pants off your butts !!!!!

Duke energy has the poorest customer service ever they are lying bastards that will take all your money and leave you without electric and heat with a baby with a medical disability that requires electric for her care. They don't care and one of there employees said it right yesterday they are Thiefs that only care about money not custommer service or relations and he said they are purposely giving you the run around!

I HAVE NEVER KNOWN A CORPORATE OFFICE THAT DID NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SUCH AS THIS ONE!!! DUKE ENERGY'S REPRESENTATIVES WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING!! MAKE SURE YOU NEED THEIR SERVICE BEFORE YOU GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY BECAUSE YOU MAY NEVER SEE IT AGAIN!
