Discover Card is very poor when it comes to handling disputes between cardholders and on line businesses. Discover will take the merchant's assertions over the card holders. I used Intellius, an internet business specializing in phone and address look-ups, one time for 1.95. I used my Discover Card to pay for it. Intellius used Discover to bill me for an identity protection plan that I didn't sign up for. The cost was $19.95 a month. It was one of those, if you don't cancel, you are a member. You have to actively click on terms and conditions. I didn't. I did not fill out an application. Nevertheless, Discover said it was a valid charge. The total charge is $59.85 and the filing fee for small claims court is $40.00. Not worth it economicaly. I will file a complaint with the state attorney general, the Federal Trade Commission, and the newly created Consumer Financial Protection Board. The complaint will be against Discover Card. Intellius never contacted or billed me. Only Discover. So I asked Discover to reject the claims and let the company come after me with proof of a contract. No, Discover insisted on inserting itself and became part of the problem. I'm saving all of the documents. I think there could be a class action lawsuit, just like the one that AT&T and Verizon just settled on third party unauthorized billing on telephone bills.

I paid off my discover $9000 cash last spring then I used it for a down payment on a motor cycle. I was NEVER late on my payments and after i paid it off the second time i was charged a small finance fee of $57. I am on paperless billing and I never received a statement because of a change in email.---NO ONE called me at anytime to let me know I had the additional fee and i just went on to get the amount i paid for my taxes and that is when i found the interest and 2 late fees and I had been sent for a delinquency to a collection agency...totally unfair. they have my phone number. I called and asked to be recalled from the collection agency and the agent refused. she said it is not allowed. I work as a CSR for a major company and i KNOW it can be done and should be done. Errors happen and I know I would NEVER send a good customer to a collection agency without prior knowledge. My email MUST have been returned because I no longer own the business that the email went to. What a terrible way to do business. I will let everyone know how shabily I was treated and will not use the DISCOVER CARD again.

Due to an error at the Social Security office, Discover Card services decided to close our account. It was a joint account. Even when they knew of the error, they refused to reinstate the account or just reopen it in my wife's name. On November 10 I requested a check for the cash back balance we are due. To date I have not heard a word. However, they could cash the check I sent. It is clearly not the same company my wife & I signed up with some forty years ago.

Terrible services!!! I was with Discover card for almost 10 years and in ther past 24 months I spent 24,000 with thema nd paid in full every dollar, not to mention never ever charged anything back ever!!!! For our wedding we went to J Del OLMO Bridal Gallery in Coral Gabels for my wifes wedding dress. She picked out the dress put 3,500 down and waited for alterations to be made so the dress would fit. Three days before the wedding she went to try the dress on and none of the alterations were made!! They had taken off pieces of the dress with out permission and never did the alterations ask for. Long story short we had to go next door and buy another dress. We disputed the charge and Discover sided with the store!! I closed my open line of credit of $8,000 and will never use discover again!!!

In 2009 I lost my job and soon could see that I was going to have trouble keeping up with my credit card bills. I called Discover about my approx. $3500 balance. They set me up on a program of automatic payments of $178.00 for 12 months after which I would have a $0.00 balance. In other words, they were agreeing to take a lower amount in settlement. While we were having the phone conversation I was following the transaction and rules on-line, in my account. After we finished talking a description of the payment plan, including the 12 mos.- pay off appeared in my account. The plan went into effect. About 4 months later, I checked my on-line Discover account and all references to the payment plan were gone. The automatic deductions continued, but no one at Discover acknowledged the terms of the plan. At the end of 12 mos., I had a balance of approx. $3200!! Paid them them $2136, yet my balance was not reduced at all. Discover is not alone in its evil actions. During this period I inherited some money and offered all of my creditors settlement at 60 cents on the dollar. Bank of America rep was at least honest enough to tell me that Bank of America would rather see me go bankrupt than to settle. I gave up banging my head against this wall, and eventually quit paying everybody and filed bankruptcy last week. Bank of America you get to eat my $45000 debt. How's that taste?

i opened my acct in 1999 paid on time for about two years then things started going to crape they lowerd my limit witch put me in over draft and then it all came tumbling down by the time it finished i took 78'00 into 95'00 in about 90 days i defaulted on my account it got written off . that's not the bad thing ,the bad thing is they still show a bal. on my credit report witch hits your credit score about 100 points + they claim it's only been five years i know for a fact it's been eight ,the bottom line is this big corps will always win so just find a way to make it work their is no easy fix they are not your friend until they need a bailout !!!!.

Discover card, I am writing to express my complete dissatisfaction with the outcome of your investigation. I cannot believe I am to pay for a service I never re-ordered, never received on a credit card I never re-activated. I am 52 years old & before this incident was told I had one of the highest credit ratings. I had never been in this type of predicament & had no clue I would continue to receive late charges on a purchase I never ordered on a product I never received. Is this how companies make money in a bad economy? I was out of town caring for my mom when I was first billed. I did not receive a paper billing until it was 2 months behind & did not know what the purchase was. I came home with my answering machine filled with hang ups & calls from credit & collections, so I called Discover customer service. The 1st gentleman said he would waive the late fees if I paid the $42 & gave me XM radio’s phone number when I asked him if I could call them first to remove the charge since I did not ask them to reactivate my radio & they charged me without reactivating the radio, so I was being asked to pay for a product/service I was not receiving. I spoke to XM & the man said he couldn’t credit my account but would have another person call me the next evening. No one called the next evening, so I called Discover again & the woman who answered claimed she didn’t know who I spoke to the 1st time & that there was nothing on my account saying he would waive the late fees & she would no longer offer the same service when I wanted to pay the $42 & continue to argue with XM. She said she would transfer me to have my complaint investigated, and then I wouldn’t have to pay anything. I spoke briefly with that man who took the complaint & then 4 months later & 4 more months more of late fees, I receive a bill saying I am to responsible to pay the bill. I email your company and ask what steps I can now take to file a grievance & no response-my email was ignored! I really believed in the end your company or XM would do the right thing. Since XM has a class action suite against them, I figured they wouldn’t do the right thing, but still held on with the belief Discover would. I was wrong. During this time my credit rating went down the tube, I was rejected refinancing my house, purchasing a new home, & turned down for a new job because they looked at my credit rating & found me a risk now. So now I am expected to pay hundreds of dollars for a purchase I did not make on a product/service I did not receive on a Discover credit card I never activated. It is unbelievable. been with discover since 1999 they make a $110.00 mistake and want me to pay it i quit them today. oh i'm a great custermer always paid time but was told they ruin my credit if i didn't pay the $110. GoodBye Discover.

i am so disgusted with discover card.they reduced my credit limit to practically nothing,i have always paid on time, but took out a $500/cash advance about one week prior to them lowering my limit, been with themsince 2003,i know this is why they lowered my limit,to the point where it was not worth it.first, they up my credit limit, then reduce it,drastically!!! i closed my account, they told me letters were sent to me concerning this, well, after they called me for a reveiw, then i got letters in the mail...sorry discover card, don't want to do business with you, i have a 767 credit score, and made payments on time, you are a corrupt co..sure hope you executives, etc., can sleep at night...high paid fat cats!!!

I just have to start off by saying Discover Card is a JOKE.. I’m recently a divorced single mother that needed some help with my account. For months I struggled to make my payments on time as the bill was due at the first of the month. I would call and call to change my due date as I was drowning in late fees and would get nothing but horrible customer service. Finally I was told that once my min amount due was brought current I could call and change the due date. I called and was told a different story, since my account was $25 over the limit I would have to now get my balance current. That's nice that they story keeps changing. I was blind transferred 3 times in one call and had to keep explaining my story and was told repeatedly that they were not able to help me. I under stand the issue with the $25 but to me that is a lot of money I just can’t cough up right now. They are not willing to work with their customers at all, all I got was attitude like I was a bad person for not being able to get my balance current. I’m very disappointed in this company as they are willing to let customers fail, instead of helping with the situation. I’m trying to make an honest attempt to pay this company, but I guess they would rather I run from my responsibility to the, either way I will fail!

Blessed Selves, Discover Card is NOT the company it used to be! This used to be the card that would refrain from disturbing your credit as long as the agreement between you and their company was upheld. Unfortunately, I was part of the mortgage scandal and once my house went into default, all credit card companies decided to lower my credit limit down to amount due every time I made a payment even though I had NEVER not paid my bills. Discover cut my credit in half, but made an agreement not to disturb it again as long as I agreed to pay my monthly installments. I began to pay twice my minimum due every month and built up my credit line. I decided not to touch that credit at Christmas Time and to keep it for emergency purposes only, since I have 2 teenage kids. I received my current bill where they LOWERED MY CREDIT LIMIT after promising not to. I called to clear up the discrepancy and was told after asking my credit limit be re-instated, they said "That won't happen!" They said it was up to the computer! Flat out REFUSED me to speak with a supervisor 5 times. Promised to have someone return my call. The only call I got was from the collections department to pay my minimum due. I told them they could go at the bottom of the list of creditors to be paid by me. It doesn't make any sense. Why would they do that? If they see I am not paying my other creditors and CLEARLY I have been paying my Discover Card, why would you mess with my credit? This only insured they would not be getting paid. NOT THE DISCOVER CARD I SIGNED UP FOR OVER 15years ago! I Remain, D. Wells
