April 17, 2012 -I had a very disappointing shopping experience today at Dillard's at the International Mall, Tampa, FL. -This mall is supposed to be a "very" upscale place to shop. Not at Dillard's... and I will most likely not go there again. There was absolutely no one interested in assisting me. In fact, I could have walked out with half the merchandise in the Women's Department and no one would have been around to notice (or care, apparently). After a while, I made eye contact with the one person I did see returning things to the racks and she clearly ignored me. Finally, after walking around the Women's Department for over 30 minutes, and not one person asked me if I needed help, I called out to ask if there was anybody around. A little lady popped up from far down the aisle and called to the person who was supposed to be behind the computer. That person never did appear until I was signing the receipt and then proceeded to hang on the counter and talk to the other person in, what I assume, was a Middle Eastern language. -Then I stopped in the restroom, and it was so dirty I almost walked out. The grout looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time...there was mildew looking stuff on almost every tile but especially in the stall. Yuck! Also, the container for sanitary napkins/tampons was overflowing and there was all kinds of toilet paper on the floor. -I have always thought Dillard's had a higher standard, but, apparently, you have gone the way of the discount stores.

I worked for Dillard's, store #405. The managers would pride themselves in calling #405 the "Flagship store," when actually it's the opposite of what I would have expected a "Flagship store" to be. First of all, the first day I started working for them in the Children's department the area sales manager,Mary Catherine was extremely rude and condescending. I was learning how to do markdowns and she had barely trained me and in the first month I was working there she trained me on markdowns by saying "since you guys obviously don't know anything about markdowns I'll show you" in a snide tone. I was very confused and astonished at her lack of professionalism. Within the second month of working there I would call for help if a customer had a problem and both Mary Catherine and the new Assistant store manager would refuse to help me. If they did help me they were very rude about it. One time in front of a customer, Zach Beck, the assistant store manager tried to dodge helping me and tried to walk off? It was completely rude and unprofessional. I would go out of my way to put up stock when it came out with no one telling me, I would straighten the areas I worked in, but none of my managers ever said a simple "thank you." I would hear from other associates that my manager, Mary Catherine Carpenter was talking about me behind my back. I started working for Dillard's with a very optimistic attitude because I very much respected John Brandenburger, the store manager. But after trying my best and being talked down to and trying to keep a professional attitude and being treated horribly I lost any kind of enthusiasm for my job. Towards the end I did begin to show up late.I lost any kind of respect I could muster and it was so hard to come to work and try to smile. I had never worked for such rude managers. The final straw was when my car had broken down on my lunch break and I couldn't make it back to work and had never been written up once and recieved a "final warning" from Zach the assistant store managerI'm moving on to better jobs now an am so happy. I worked at Dillard's for 8 months. I worked with people who stole and didn't get fired, but quit. I watched people quit with no notice, but somehow I was targeted and pretty much forced to quit. I would think Dillard's would want and expect a much higher standard as far as professionalism is concerned. I am very disappointed by my experience working there.

I have always loved Dillards. It had always been my go to store. This month I was a week late with my payment (!!!). I got a call from India asking for my late husband. Meestah Dave. I told the woman he was deceased and she wanted to know when he died, etc., who I was, etc. I asked for her supervisor and told her I was upset and insulted, and would be closing my account. Of course, neither of these women could speak enough English clearly enough to be understood. In this time of high unemployment, why does Dillards employ people overseas who do not shop at their stores, especially when the Dillards headquarters is in Arkansas where unemployment is massive. Not to mention you cannot understand what they are saying and they obviously do not know that in this culture you do not question widows about the particulars of their husband's death. That was it. I will now be shopping at Macy's. Maybe Dillards can open a store in India and corner their employee's business there.

Dillard's employees are all either on commision or sales quotas. You would think that this would make the customer service better..nope it seems to encourage just the opposite. No one seems to offer to help unless your arms are full and they think they will get a big sale. Management doesn't seem to care so....I'm taking my $$$ to another store and have already closed Dillar's account!

I will be sending a letter also. I want to think it might go to someone who cares. On 3/1 I bought a blouse in Dillards in Las Cruces, NM. I didn't try it on because I thought I could go to my mother's home in Las Cruces and try it on there. I live in Lubbock, TX. Four days later I took it back and was told that I was a day late bringing it back. So I could not get a refund. I had never been told that this was Dillard's policy. I told the clerk that they could keep it then because I couldn't use it. I also asked for a pair of scissors, and I cut up my card. There must not have been a lot going on that day because at least 3 store clerks stood around while this was all going on. One of them asked me why I hadn't looked at my receipt. I told her that I hadn't looked at it because it was still in the bag, and I assumed they were honest so the price would have been correct. Later this same clerk told the store manager that I had said the clerks in Dillards were not honest. The manager of that particular department came to talk to me, and she called the store manager. The store manager told her to give me a store credit which she did. Then she asked me if she could send me another credit card. We were discussing this when the store manager walked up. The first thing she did was accuse me of throwing the scissors at one of the clerks. I told her that I certainly had not. She badger me until I asked her if she wanted to call the police. When the manager of that department was speaking to me she was cordail, and I had calmed down. By the time I left the store manager and her group of people, I was so livid I made up my mind that I will never trade with Dillards again. I have been doing business with the Dillards in Las Cruces since the day it was built. I am not a teenager. I'm 68 years old, and I have never been so offended by any store employee. We visted in Las Cruces for a week after this, and I had many opportunities to share my story. Everyone of my friends had a story to share with me about Dillards. In these times of such poor economy this is no way to run a business. One friend said to me, what happened to customer courtesy? Goodbye to Dillards forever.

I recently had my make-up done by a very beautiful and talented young lady, she worked at estee lauder, at the cottonwood mall in albq,nm. She not only applied my make-up, she gave me some very valuable tips, on how to make myself look better with the products I purchased. I went this weekend to thank her, but was told she terminated for NO WEARING ENOUGH MAKE-UP. I really do think that Dillards has some issues with their employees. I'm writing this review to thank her, I hope she reads this. At least at some point Dillard had their thinking caps on when they hired her. Thank you dillards for having this very valuable employee. It was a pleasure to interact with this very beautiful young lady. I do know that she is greatly missed by hundreds of customers that she had. I personally used to go and ask her, Is it possible to make me look like you? She would smile and always tell me ,your beautiful in your own way. Dillards overall is a wonderful store, but sometimes the managers are very hard core, and Im sure their employees would be alot happier if they worked with them.

I once was a very good customer of Dillard's until I found the out what one employee does business or should I say does extra busincess on side to make her money.. Which Is crazy and I know against the law in more the one way.. This employee named Phyllis green in Sherman tx midway mall Dillard's a very small Dillard's. Which doesn't have a large comestic area and carry every color or everything.. She carries around extra product in heDr purse twinkle pink eye shadow from estee Lauder and sales it for 20 which is the price but I found out she buys them on the Internet on line on a Dillard's card and gets 25% off then turns around and sales them for 20 which she is making money for her self and cheating Dillard's out of money. She says oh let me order it if I order over 50 I get free shipping and her discount I feel like this is very illegal and is theft.. I know of alot of people that she does this for Infact she takes orders until it hits 50 then charges us the amount she wants. She uses another employees credit card an American express one just pulls the number out not a card I don't even know if who's card she uses know she is using it.. I am shock and surprised this is happening at Dillard's what kind of busincess do they run a scam they are scam artists...

I recently found out that my favorite make-up artist was terminated last week, I believe on the 28 of Feb. She was let go because apparently she was not wearing enough make-up. In my opinion that is the most unjustified and stupid reason , I have ever heard. Not only did they lose one of the most beautiful, talented, professional, friendliest and overall the best person they've ever had, they let go of her for a stupid reason. She has been there for years and she made Dillards look good, by wearing their make-up. I won't be going there any more, the only reason I went there was because she knew what I needed and wanted. I don't think Dillards will be able to replace her because I do believe they just made the biggest mistake ever by letting her go. Oh by the way she was the best Estee Lauder ever had and will have. When you work selling beauty products you have to look presentable, and she did it well. I'm going to miss her dearly, GOOD LUCK DILLARDS in trying to fill her shoes.

This review is for the Dillards at the Cottonwood mall. First of all I like their clothing and that is it. As for their beauty products, I recently met this wonderful beauty advisor. She sat me down and like magic transformed me into a person I never knew existed. This beautiful young lady expertly knew what my color was, what kind of beauty product I needed for my face. I did go back and discovered she was terminated, for not wearing enough make-up to suit their needs. I feel like I lost not only my beauty advisor, but also a friend. I know who ever hires this truly amazing person will be very lucky. Dillards should really consider letting go of their their store manager, because he clearly does not know what he is doing. And as for Estee Lauders counter manager they have know , she really should have taken some tips from the beauty advisor they let go because its quite obvious she needs the help. I thought you had to sell the product.

My grandmother was fired from Dillards at Cottonwood Mall in Albuquerque NM, she has been with Dillards for Years and instead of the store managers working with her they mistreated her and discrinated against an elderly woman. With the economy and people saving every penny makes it difficult for people like my grandmother to make her sales goals that would have kept her job. If the store was in trouble and not making it's sales then I could understand my grandmother being fired but the store is doing well. Mike G store manager has done everything possible to discriminate against the elderly where Kay who worked in Accessories for years who is also an elderly woman was fired several months ago. Mike has not consideration in helping Dillards employees and keeping them on all he is concerned about is disrespecting the employees and talking down to them. There is a profressional way to talk to employees to work with employees but from I have heard the management yells, uses curse words and points fingers talking down and threatening employees. It's all about Mike and Dillards wont do anything about it because they don't care as long as the store is making money they can fire everyone talk down to them threaten them harrass them and treat them horrible no matter what age they are or who long they have been with the department. Mike has fired only female because he discriminates againts them. I would encourage anyone and everyone in Albuquerque NM to shop at Winrock or Macy's and avoid spending any of your time or money at the Dillards at Cottonwood Mall where they fire grandmothers.

I am writing to warn customers of Dillards return policy (or lack thereof). When I send in my payment on my account, it will be accompanied by the cut up credit card, as I am no longer a Dillards customer. My family & friends have been shopping there for years and years. They will also be informed of the way I was treated. I bought a formal dress to wear for my daughter's wedding on April 7, 2012, from the Dillards at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, LA a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't sure I would keep it, as I wanted to show it to my daughter first to see if she liked it. I asked up front, and the associate who helped me told me that it could be returned if the tags weren't removed. Well, when I showed my daughter, she thought it was a very pretty dress (and it is), but it is almost the same color as her bridesmaids' dresses. I went back to Dillards and bought another dress from them, intending to return the first one later. I tried to return the original dress, which I hadn't even taken out of the bag, much less removed the tags, today (02/27/2012), and there was a white mark on it...most probably from someone (or even me) trying it on. The associates told me that they would have to get their manager's approval for the return. The manager came to inspect the dress, and in front of her associates and other customers, asked me rudely where I'd gotten the dress. She stated that they didn't sell dresses with deodorant stains on them, and that I couldn't get a refund. She said that the dress had been worn and could not be returned. I asked if they could have the dress cleaned and she refused. Just kept stating that I couldn't return a dress in that condition. Then, she actually told me to have a nice evening. My Dillards days are over.

Employees are paid by the sales they can produce on a monthly basis. Eight of 10 times associates are not follwing customers around the store but attempting to maintain a goal by keeping in sight of the consumer. Thirty days is plenty time to return a product and during the Christmas holiday some exceptions are made. Although not all returns are processed, you should try another store. Please try to be understanding when situations occur and don't shoot the messenger. Some associates may be disrespectful as is expected in any society not just Dillard's but most are just people trying to make a living and maintain a job.

I had a bad experience at the Clearwater , Fl Dillard's on 2/25/12. They were having the last day of extra 40% off sale on shoes. I was there with my mother and sister. Things appeared calm and then it was chaos. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon. There was only one person at the cash register and another person darting in an out of the backroom. Some of the women were just rude, pushing me out of my chair, stating my mother, who is 86 and used a cane should not be sitting in the chair because she was not trying on shoes. I went to get help and there was no one. Usually there are male salemen there who know how to handle people and they were not there. We left the store. I called the store manager, who was only thinking of herself with her self-serving statements. She did not agree the deparment was understaffed, and there was no concern for how we were treated. She was more interested in protecting herself. i have never had such a bad experience with a store manager in all my life. The store needed more chairs, more sales people and they can do away with the store manager because she is the worst representative for the store.

I submitted a review and I do not see it here. This is about the Dillards in Clearwater, Fl. On 2/25/12 my mother age 86, my sister, and I were in the shoe department. There was an extra 40% off shoes on sale. I t was aobut 2:30p.m. and suddenly there was an influx of costumers. The floor was understaffed, female costumers were less than cordial. I would call them rude beyond belief. I got up for one second and a costumer slide into my chair. My mother told her that chair was taken and this costumer was rude to her. I saw this happen. One costumer said your mother should not be sitting in the chair. She is 86 and walks with a cane. I went to get help no one was available to help. One sales person was in the backroom and another on the cash register. This is understaffed. They needed more experienced salesmen, I do mean men, to keep these ladies in control. We left the store. I called the store manager and I was shocked to find her not empathetic to my constructive criticism. It was her goal to make me loook like the problem.ik was so frustrated with her combative language that I hung up on her. I have never experienced anything like this in my 64 years. I tore up the credit card from Dillards, we are never going back. I am from Boston, I have never enocuntered such rudness from a store manager in my life. This makes me feel unsafe in the store and my mother is in total agreement. Think I will pursue this with the BBB.

I bought a pair of women heels for my daughter they were reduced by 65% with and additional 40% off. I got home the shoes was a half size to small I returned the shoes within 3 day grace period I found another pair to exchange with however upon check I was told I loss my extra 40% off and i couldnt because the pair I was purchasing had the same 65% reduction. I feel.as thluvh I got ripped off by Dillards I should had been able to use my 40% off because I followed their return policy. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHINV ELSE FROM.DILLARD I WILL CONTI.UE TO SHOP AT OTHER MAJOR DEPARTMENT STORES THAT TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS FAIR.

I was in the Oxford store the other day in Housewares and couldn't get waited on. I finally got waited on by this lady whose daughter and granddaughter were there. She was so busy with them that she had no time to wait on me and couldn't have cared less. She finally did check me out but I had no assistance. I asked for the manager, but after waiting over ten minutes he never showed up, so I just left. How do stores like this stay in business? I will never shop there again.

After reading all the negative comments from customers on Dillards customer service, I feel a little better that I am not the only one who had a bad experience with them!! I shop at the Dillards store in Sarasota, FL and most of the time it is ok, not bad service. However, last week, I was purchasing a pair of shoes at the women's shoe and was waiting for my purchase to be rung up. All the associates totally ignored me while I was standing at the register. One woman came to ring up another customer who came after me and when I mentioned that I had been waiting she totally ignored me. I told her that the way they treat customers is unacceptable and wanted to speak to her manager about it. She was very brazen and condescending and very rude. The worst part was, when I complained to the store manager, he took her side and was making excuses and was very unpleasant and very rude himself. I felt very humiliated and threatened by this incident. When I filed a complaint with the district manager about this, nothing happened. No one contacted me, no apologies....nothing. Well, from now on, I will never ever shop at Dillards, and will continue to shop at Macys and Saks. At least they are decent and customer oriented and classy, unlike the Dillards losers.

I would like to give a compliment to the store in Beachwood, Ohio..The store is always organized & clean. The staff is always friendly & helpful. I especially had a great experience with a lady named Julianna in lingerie. She was attentive & very nice. The sales are outstanding also. Keep up the good work!!

I have never been treated in such a manner at any department store as Dillards. My teenage daughter and I were in search for her senior prom dress over the weekend. We had shopped in numerous stores until our last stop.(Dillards).It is the same experience every time I enter that store,no matter which location. This particular one was at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville NC.My daughter had 3 dresses that were prospects.I was steps away from here looking at others and the sales lady rudely walked up to her and just took the dresses out of her hands and said "I will hang these in the dressing room.Let me know when you are ready to try them on".We were "floored"!And the worst part about it was she followed her around for 10 minutes as if she were going to steal something and when she was finally ready to try the dresses on,I asked the lady could she get in that dressing room that she has now locked after taking them in and she replied when she was through waiting on another customer. We then just shook our heads and left without purchasing a dress. We still have not found one.Im sure that one of those would have worked. They were all beautiful but that was a total nightmare.I wont go back!

The store in Oxford is horrible. The nicest lady was waiting on me in Children's, when suddenly this younger, but still old women...dressed like a teenager, came running up and said she was was waiting on us first. I'd never even seen her!!! They must get paid for their sales, but I felt so sorry for the other lady. The one who rang me up needs to be fired!
