Best Buy Re: the Geek Squad To Whom It May Concern, On August 13, 2012 we tried to install a new printer. We could not get the laptop to acknowledge this printer as the “default printer” and it would not print any PDF files. We called the geek squad and explained our problem and gave him the error # that kept showing up. The agent immediately stated that was a common error# and our new printer was defective. We then connected another printer, that we use all the time, to the laptop and experienced the same problems. We immediately called the geek squad again and explained the problem. This agent took control of my laptop and worked with it for over an hour. He then called me back and stated there was a problem with the laptop software and he could not fix it over the internet. We were told to take it into Best Buy to the geek squad. I called the geek squad at Best Buy to see if an appointment was necessary and to explain my problem. I asked if I could bring my new printer in so they could fix the problem. I was told they did not want my printer and that they could fix the laptop without it. I took my laptop to the geek squad on August 18 and again explained the problem. After keeping my laptop for 6 working days, I was told the problem was my wireless connection (which I had already told them I was not using the wireless for the printer) and an agent would have to come to my home office to fix the wireless connection. I asked if they had tried to hook a printer to my laptop and was told no because they did not have my printer. However they did get the same error message. They also did not notate on the service order any problems concerning the wireless connection. I was then told it would cost me (4) trip charges at $49.95 each plus a service call fee of $129 to $299, to be determined by the agent that came to my home. By their own admission they did not check out the problem I explained to them. They were more concerned with collecting the trip charges, up front, so they could put me on a schedule. I found the attitude to be cocky and unprofessional. I declined and took my laptop and printer to a computer repair person we had used in the past. Within the hour I was told the problem was in the registry. They fixed the problem and the printer and laptop work just fine. All for a fee under $100.00. I am left wondering why I paid a years’ service to the Geek Squad to get such poor service. I would not recommend them to anyone!

I would rate negative infinity! I purchased an Asus ultra book. Never worked right out of the box. You can't even get it to come on. Two days after the purchase I went out of the country for 21 days. There was no way for me to return it before leaving. So it was 38 days from the date of purchase that I took it back to the store. Yes, that is right 38 days. When I went back to bust buy they said I had to pay the geek squads to fix it, as it did not look like a hardware a problem so Asus would not fix it. They said it only had a 30 day warranty. Even though it was their pre loaded software. They were VERY VERY RUDE. Really.? A brand new $1300 Computer right out of the box and I have to pay to have it fixed???? 8 days over the 30. SERIOUSLY?????? DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY. THEY ARE CROOKS!

Best Buy burnt my hard drive and now they refuse to pay for the data recovery.

The place is like a clown college. It took an hour for them to fiqure out how to deliver two applicances Once it was delivered the frezer did not work and I had to call the store at least five times and corporate once to get this problem fixed. You get passed around fromone person to the next and placed on hold for hours. no wonder they are having trouble staying in business

Best Buy (what a misnomer) has essentially had my husband's laptop all summer. It has been returned and re-returned for service at least three times during the past eight weeks. The Geeks have told him in two cases that their repairs would take four days. In both cases it took 12. When we complained, they told us that some of their staff was on vacation. Didn't they know that when we dropped it off? When I went to inquire about whether or not the laptop was ready, the Geek who was responsible knew I was waiting (I was standing right at the counter looking at him) and he went back and forth several times for at least 15 MINUTES without acknowledging my presence. When he finally acknowledged me, he brought out the laptop, which he swore was ready, and it still didn't work--another two weeks to send it wherever it goes, repair it, and send it back. Somewhere in their agreement (perhaps over the rainbow) there is a provision about getting a new laptop if yours requires three fixes. We are on our third fix in which the laptop needs to be sent away. Oh, we didn't read carefully enough. You can only get a replacement if your laptop needs to be sent away three times in 30 days. Considering the amount of time it takes to get your property back after it is repaired, that is essentially a mathemematicl impossibility. So unhappy.

I placed an online order at Best Buy.com on 9/11/2012. I used two $15 gift cards with the order. It appeared the order was placed successfully but I never received an Email confirmation. The next morning I checked my Email and still no confirmation was sent. So I went to the Best Buy store near me, (Menomonee Falls, WI), and found the item there, and it was $5 cheaper than the online price. (I had repeatedly checked the BestBuy.com website under my account "Order Status" and there was no order). When I tried to purchase the item at the store I presented my two gift cards. They swiped the cards and guess what? They both registered a "0" balance. I explained about the "Ghost" order I placed on the .com website. They admitted the error and website computer problems but told me they can't put money back on the gift cards. [they can take it off easily enough!] They will investigate and send me a gift card worth $30 in 3 to 5 days. The moral of this story? If possible buy your stuff on Amazon.Com.

i recently had a problem with a mitsubishi tv i purchased at best buy here in texas, i also bought the extended warranty to go with as well. my tv started to get some of those dots on the screen, so i called the queek squad to come take care. i only had a month left before the warranty was to expire, so when the tech came out he went ahead and change the light bulb for me, but didn't do anything for the dots. he told me that best buy wouldn't be able to fix it, "it's not covered under warranty, i believed him and didn't say or do anything about it. 7 months went by and my tv was 75% covered with these dots, i eventually called corporate and told them what my tv looked like and asked why was it never fixed during the warranty. they looked into for me and agreed it should of been fixed and didn't know they wouldn't do it. corporate came thru for me and fixed everything as if i still had the warranty...thank you jennifer k.!!!

Worst store ever. Buy everything through Amazon or Ebay. It's better even better if you pay a few bucks more.

If you are wondering why you’re going broke and the stock doesn't rise consider this: I went to the Williamsville, NY transit Road store today to purchase and have installed in my vehicle an accessory. Not finding anyone around the auto department I went to the front customer service. I asked if anyone was available in auto I was told that the one and only employee was on vacation for the next 4-5 days. I noticed that the names of the store manager and assistant manager were not visible. I not surprised I would want my name associated with this crap either.

ZERO stars. Best Buy is a horrible company to do business with. They have recently ruined my credit by reporting derogatories in 2011 for an account that was PAID IN FULL AND CLOSED IN 2009!. I am getting the run around trying to reach an English speaking person in the US to remove this derogatory from my credit and I after speaking to 7 people in India and the Philippines requesting transfer to a US customer service rep, the line goes dead. BEST BUY SUCKS BALLS.

Worst customer service ever!!! I purchased a washer and dryer at the store in San Bruno, CA, and scheduled a delivery date. I never received a phone call informing me when they would have them delivered. It turned out that they were still sitting in the back of the store. No one ever contacted me to update the situation, and no one could offer me any other options for the delivery either. When I called the store, they LIED and said someone contacted me (I didn't even get any messages), and then they tried to cover their behind and switched the delivery date to later. I had something else delivered by LOWE's the day before, and I was so happy with their service. Best buy, you better learn something from them!

Too bad there is not a 0 star rating, there should be, actually a negative 0, as this is the kind of serivce I have rec'd from the Allen TX store, I re-replace my kitchen appliances with ones from Best Buy, what a nightmare, the refrigerator handles were not able too be changed from right to left as I was told they would be able to do so, 4 times by the sales rep, after my telling him this was a deal breaker for me, however the manager (diffent store) made it right and ordered a new one for me, the oven was missing a leveling leg and the microwave oven did not have the installation bracket, I had to go to to the store and pick these items up after much conversations with the manager to even get them, telling me that they were open items, but my paperwork states no missing parts, then I had to endure another Saturday waiting for installation and guess what the microwave did not even work, and dealing with that issue was too much, they actually wanted me to pay half on another oven, this was should have worked, it was still open box or not under manufatucters warranty, after days of talking I finally talked to someone who did the right thing and got me a new microwave and it was finally installed. But I will never shop at Best ( Worse) Buy again, even with the $50 gift card they gave me, someone will be getting that for a birhtday card, I guess it will be good for a CD, nothing major. I hate this place and I don't use that word ligtly.

Best buy in gilroy kept my computer:( they never gave it back i only took it to be repaired has this happened to others?? I rate them a negative 1000

Absolutely disgusted with best buy. I've had a problem with them in the past and decided to give them another chance(worst idea ever). Bought a fridge June 24th at the york pa store and it was supposed to be get delivered July 10th. I called July 10th and they had no idea what I was even talking about . When they finally figured it out, they kept telling me the fridge was in transit. It's now July 24th and I still haven't received my fridge, nor am I getting one. After speaking on the phone with them every day for weeks and they kept giving me different stories .. I asked the manager if she's going to find me another fridge for that price and she said there's no way they can give me another one for the original price I purchased it for. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with . Very very dissatisfied!! I am moving into my new home tomorrow and have no refrigerator.! All I got to say is karma is a b****!

i went into the new hope commons best buy in durham, nc to be ignored. it was the day the stock truck came in and they were so under staffed according to the acting manager aka loser in the geek center. i looked around and checked reviews on a couple of models on my phone. i was there about 45 minutes and 5 different blue shirts walked back and forth. the 2 that were supposedly assigned to that department actually worked compared to the others. one of them spent 45 minutes trying to hook some college girl into a high dollar laptop so he was basically useless in helping anyone. the othe would pick and choose who he would help. not a word was ever said to me or that i existed. i walked up to the geek center while some broad explained bs to a customer about her computer. the average person would catch how much bs she was running. after 5 minutes standing there, the "acting manager" decided he should help me. i asked one question and that was really really tough as it was an interuption in his computer work. after leaving, i thought what the hell. i'll just call these idiots to talk to a manager. turned out after another minutes, i got the acting manager again. such an inconvienance i was to him. i let him know that his lovely clowns working in his store let a $781 sale go out the door as i ordered a laptop that was better for the same money off of costco.com. he tried to be all concerned but it was a bull shit spiel. circuit city was assholes and so is best buy. i hope to see best buy go out of business too. cant wait till 3 days from now when i get my new laptop. kiss my sweaty balls best buy.

I had a terrible experience at the Best Buy in Burleson, Texas. The manager that came and talked to me came at me rude before he even heard my concerns. When I tried to rationalize with him as a manager from another retail establishment he actually implied that I was lieing and said nothing any different than the hourly associate and had the nerve to actually grin as he walked away. Ryan is the so called managers name, he should not be in customer service anywhere!!!!! RUDE

Today I ordered a Cannon camera online and picked it up at the Secaucus NJ store today 6/28/2012. I first checked ebay, Amazon, Cannon and others listed on a Google search. All the others had comparable pricing and I decided to buy with Best Buy primarily as we needed it before our 4th of July vacation. The online orders were great with Best Buy as they suggested accessories like a second battery (so we can continuously take pictures), larger memory and a free case. The other retailers do not do this. You are on your own and can easily make a mistake and order a wrong battery. The items were to be picked up at a store that had all items except the battery - which they sent by mail, confirmed by email a few minutes later. I picked up the items at the store and could not be happier. My only suggestion to Best Buy for on-line orders is select a store closest with ALL the items as a first selection. The other items should list this store first also. To the people below - many of which are complaining of returns - I suggest try returning on ebay and the other online retailers. You have no idea what a hassle it is and you pay shipping and they still charge you a re-stocking fee. Many of these online stores simply won't take back merchandize or give you a hard time. A quick story - I just ordered an item from ebay and found out a day later that it was being sent from China which took 3 weeks. The vendor asked for a positive review before hand - is what tipped me off. Another story - my daughters prom dress apparently also came from China (which was not disclosed) and she had her Prom with another dress a week ago. You have no idea how bad it's out there. Additionally most people are not competent to read instructions FIRST and then assemble/set-up their purchases. Especially be careful when setting up electronics. I figured out - why order on-line and have to wait for it when Best Buy will have the merchandize available TODAY to be picked up at their store.

Check out all the other companies they all have 1 star too so i guess all you people can stop shopping now!
